This actually brought a tear to my eye (especially knowing the longer cut has been restored too)
Carax seems to have had one of the more unpleasant inner lives out of all the masters of recent years & out of all his works this has gotten the shortest shrift yet it's immediately clear from the cinematography in HD that it's his masterwork, I desperately hope the longer cut gets a disc release finally, the filmbro crowd who ate up Holy Motors will absolutely lose their shit for this one on notoriety points alone & spread its reputation further. Pierre is the punctuation mark at the end of the 20th century of French cinema. Fucking magical. Gautier does Jean-Yves Escoffier proud the way he shoots their faces.
