>>220342096The rest of the series was pretty good. I really liked the piggies and their lifecycle. Also the Shadow series that follows Bean and the rest back on earth being recruited by their home countries to do world war against each other was really fun but i read it like 18 years ago so i dont know how i feel about them now.

>>220342148>so i dont know how i feel about them now.I read Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon recently. They're both pretty fucking retarded if you're not a child. Ender's Shadow is slightly less retarded when Bean goes to the academy, but his backstory being a super fetus who is able to crawl out of the toilet, and then being able to beat up 7 years old gangster children when he is like 2 is so stupid. Then Hegemon where like you said, the nation's recruit these children to run the military is even more retarded.

Read philosophy. Don't read fiction, except the Big Three.

>>220341488They’re still pushing Great Gatsby and Huckleberry Finn despite having absolutely no relevance to today’s youth. Forcing kids to read anything by Ayn Rand should be treated like a war crime. I’d argue the only “classics” worth reading are Catcher in the Rye and All Quiet on the Western Front. They do it intentionally, they want to turn most people off to reading recreationally by the time of adulthood.
>>22034148890% of school based reading is fiction. I started reading non fiction books at 13 and leaped frogged the rest of my retarded peers rapidly. If the class based assignment reading wasn't some arbitrary fiction book written in the 80s for young adults, then the teachers wanted students to read fucking Harry Potter in their spare time. Either way, it was all fiction. They wanted all students to read fiction all the time.Absolutely mind boggling. You should always be reading about something that actually happened.

School children also weren't forced to read fiction in the early 19th century. Education was based around the new global landscape and learning as much real life value lessons as possible, with the main emphasis on math, science, language, economics and history. Fiction reading was considered leisure and non academia
It should also be noted that men used to be in charge of academia, but slowly and surely throughout the 20th century, especially once public education was created, it became dominated by women and the lessons became infantile focused, with the education and level of studies itself tied only to the ability of the female's level of intelligence and education.
