What was his fucking problem?
>>
>>220361060
Jealous of Jon mostly. Also he fought for the Mad King and when his regime fell he was exiled to the Wall so he didn't much like Starks or Lannisters
>>
>>220361060
Ridley Scott? I dunno, he's made a lot of shitty movies.
>>
He was just a fucking asshole really

What does everyone think was going inside Thornes brains as he got his neck snapped
>>
>>220361236
Not much, he'd made his peace with death and died like a man unlike Slynt
>>
>>220361097
He probably felt realt stupid when everyone realized Jon was the legitimate Targ heir.
>>
>>220361236
In his final moments he felt regret because he knew being so stuck up against wildlings who evidently weren't that bad wasn't worth killing jon and ultimately being hung when a greater threat marches on
>>
Targ loyalist who was fucking bitter that Robert sent him to the wall. He knew Jon was the bastard son of Robert's best bud so deep down he probably took a lot of it out on him.

Do you think Locke thought somewhat highly of Jon Snow in this scene where Thorne was being a massive prick? Thorne was a "highborn cunt" just like he said he hated, and was giving Jon tons of shit just for training people. Locke could see Jon could back up his fighting skills too. I know Jon wasn't the main target for Locke either, but finding Bran.

when hanging, your final moment is an orgasm so awesome that people accidentally kill themselves trying to replicate it at home.

so i think he had a great time. he was staring at john cumming himself to death
>>
>>220361584
maybe a slight amount of respect for standing up to authority and his skill but Locke would kill Jon instantly if it meant it would get him Bran.
>>
>>220361133
Genuinely thought that was Ridley.
>>
>>220361060
His brother died and although they both were just music video directors at heart, the wrong one survived and kept making films despite his decline in senility. People mistake vigor for clarity of mind.
>>
>>220361360
nah, Thorne says he would do it all again if he could. he was definitely trying to give a final "fuck you" to Jon and saying it's only a matter of time until it fails, but I don't think Thorne regretted killing Jon one bit.
>>
>>220361097
>Also he fought for the Mad King and when his regime fell he was exiled to the Wall so he didn't much like Starks or Lannisters
Never even hinted at in the show
>>
Thorne doesn't even have a part in killing Jon in the books, right? I forget who was all there or if Thorne possibly knew it would happen
>>
>>220362297
it would be tough to include more of Thorne's backstory unless Maester Aemon said it to Jon on why he's such a bitter man
>>
>>220362303
iirc it's like five dudes, ollie and thorne are part of it but it's been forever since reading the books
>>
>>220362303
No. He's not even at Castle Black when it happens in the book, as Jon sends him north of the wall and that's the last he's mentioned. He also doesn't become first ranger and Jon has zero respect for him.
>>
>>220361236
"Fucking bullshit, we stabbed this bastard like 50 times."
>>
>>220362388
Anon, if you'd read the books you'd know that not only does ollie not even exist, thorne was not involved because jon had already sent him north
>>
>>220362399
>as Jon sends him north of the wall and that's the last he's mentioned.
You know remember that George has been wanking for the last 15 fucking years.
>>
>>220362499
*Now. God i hate phonefagging
>>
He was too based for this world. Best show character arc.
>>
>>220362536
what was his arc? seemed like basically the same character the entire time
>>
>>220361060
I don't know, it's been so long. He was the cook right?

Thorne isn't at the wall when the mutiny happens and the mutiny also isn't 5 guys stabbing Jon at night, it's more like "Jon gets shanked in broad daylight by half the rangers after ignoring every warning from Melisandre and good lord the fat man is going to die and this cliffhanger is how this series ends"
>>
>>220362781
would Thorne have supported them killing him?
>>
>>220363024
Yes, he's one of the many rangers that doesn't want to led wildlings in, wants to block up the entrances in the wall, and opposes how friendly Jon is with Stannis. He's the one that got sent off on a suicide mission to Hardhome, instead of Jon going personally like in the show
>>
>>220362324
>Did I ever tell you about Thorne? He was a servant of the Mad King, a selfish and proud man, and when the regime fell he was banished to the wall, that is why he now loathes the nobles who took over the lands, and I would not be surprised if he quietly vowed revenge on them, if only to himself, and he was a good friend.
>>
>>220363072
Damn, they really changed a shit load during that portion of the show, especially Jon's character. I wonder if Thorne would have survived Hardhome.
>>
>>220363118
I thought Thorne voluntarily took the black after Bobby B claimed the throne.
>>
>>220363328
I haven't seen the show or read the book, I'm just here to meme. Sorry if I made it seem like I knew what the fuck I was talking about.
>>
>>220363328
No. He and Ser Jaramy Rykker (book only character) fought Tywin when he stormed King's Landing and got sent to the Wall
>>
>>220363447
Huh, I guess I missed that. Thanks.
>>
>>220363371

>and good lord the fat man is going to die and this cliffhanger is how this series ends"
This is really beyond parody when you forget this series exists for a while.
>The tv show adaptation which no one likes how it extends past the book material has now been over for 7 years.
>>
>>220363907
People will look back and ask:
>so he just like, didn't finish the books?
>yup, he strung everyone along for decades. Even the HBO show runners. Promising he'd get the next books out soon. Started releasing a few chapters every so often then stopped even that. Claimed he was furiously writing whipe never producing anything further. Said he'd lock himself away until he finished. Even went through covid and actually was locked away, yet still didn't finish. The guy was the biggest grifter in all of fiction. That's how he came to be known as the Anti-Tolkien.
>>
>>220361334
he had been hanged already by then
>>
>>220362229
in a proper hanging your neck is broken by the fall so you don't get any strangulation orgasm
>>
>>220362244
>>220361584
I don’t think Locke respected anyone unless they were paying him. Not that he wouldn’t have hated Thorne too though
>>
>>220361060
he wanted to be lord commander but lord snow won without even running
>>
the funniest shit ever would be WoW releasing and finding out that Jon didn't even die at the mutiny, just got stabbed prettty bad, George loves fake-out deaths
like everyone just assuming he gets killed, then revived going through some sort of transformation only for him to simply getting hurt and then recovering
>>
Like flies

>The tv show adaptation which no one likes how it extends past the book material has now been over for 7 years.
holy christ it has been 7 years
>>
>>220362466
i read them, honestly couldn't remember this part besides him saying "ghost", so my bad bro
>>
>>220361060
I can't imagine the frustration of being a veteran of the wall in charge of training new recruits and one fat ass receuit with zero combat ability, no exceptional charisma, no bravery, and no desire for self improvement is allowed to become a brother of the nights solely because a new bastard volunteer that is being groomed for command has taken a liking to him. Alistair even proved to be right when fat fuck Sam decides he can't walk anymore and flops on the ground making his brothers carry him from white walkers until they get killed at which point he suddenly find the energy to continue on his own two legs.
>>
>>220367870
of course it pissed him off but there are things for men of the nights watch to do besides fight. putting sam out into the field was retarded from the gate.
