Who had to watch this mandatory film in class?
Not me but I do recall people making fun of him for getting sick when HE was the one eating McDonalds slop nonstop. And he ruined the Supersize like an asshole
>>220361763Millenials are so gullible, they swallowed propaganda like this, Bowling for Columbine and an Inconvenient Truth wholesale
>its propaganda to imply "food products" from companies who will put toxic chemicals in food if it saves a fraction of a cent per sale aren't healthy
we all had to watch all of this during english of all classes, and we all got told off for saying the same thing, 'well of course he'll get really fat and sick if he eats junk food every day'. this doesn't make macdonalds good. this makes macdonalds junk food, which we all already know. I really don't know what the point of the film was and I don't know why teachers were ordered to punish and silence students for pointing out that the film is just presenting a pointless truism, instead of participating in the belief we're apparentley supposed to get that eating junk food once will make you morbidly obese and sick. you're supposed to repeat this lesson while just ignoring and not daring to mention that he eats it every single day. just such a bizarre thing they made us all participate in.
>>220361763>they made me WATCH A MOVIE, I was BRAINWASHEDsorry to hear you're a weak willed stooge, anon
>>220362790Not /tv/ related but I remember a teacher tried to get me suspended because I vocally challenged "A Child Called It" because the author was skeevy as fuck and everyone in his family called him a lying asshole.I actually got to be put under another, better, teacher because I argued to the admin the crazy one would now grade me on a bias for disagreeing with her
>>220362346It was before we were aware of the neo-marxist subversion.
>>220362852in hindsight I saw a lot of this from 'naughty kids' who really were just speaking against a narrative being forced on them. not to say they weren't typically disruptive and rude and stuff too, but they did also completely reject viewpoints being forced onto them.
>>220362939NTA, but I got sent out into the hall during class once because we were going to watch a documentary on seal clubbing. I jokingly made a gesture like I was clubbing a seal.Teacher tried to lay it on real thick by writing me up. My dad laughed about it in the car.
>>220362939I was never a troublemaker, but even as a preteen/teen I had a good sniffer for bullshit and when teachers just wanted to use their authority to push whatever bullshit ideology or narrative they themselves held dear. They'd punish you for criticizing or challenging their viewpoints. If anything I remember they actually remember they resented you MORE if you were intelligent or well spoken enough to poke holes in their logic, because they couldnt write you off or have admin label you as a "bad kid."Most teachers in the US are massive idpol faggots and propagandists who want to indoctrinate the youth.
>>220361763I remember a friend and I rented this from Blockbuster and ate McDonalds while we watched it. Fun times.
What is with people who will die defending foodslop?
Normies passt and shat their pants over this, thinking it was some huge revelation, in 2007, that junk food was unhealthy.

>>220364920It just shows the intelligence level of American schoolteachers.
>>220362346the only thing that i remember about bowling for columbine was that they tried to suggest that, because the army used to roll convoys through that area transporting missiles to their bases, that predisposed dylan and eric to violenceit was the most retarded fucking thing idheard in my life up to that point
>>220364757There's one part when he's at the doctor and the doctor says you know what the problem is or something along those lines.Coincidentally i was on jury duty for a DWI case this week and he kept making excuses like he was weaving in and out of traffic and swerving, brake checking people because his estranged wife and daughter were visiting so he was in a hurry and stressed out. Even though he failed all sobriety checks and drew a 0.1 one hour after he was pulled over. He still claimed to be not guilty and gave some sob story about his injuries and how he was scared of the cops and that's why he failed and now he has PTSD. Took us about 2 seconds to reach a guilty verdict.
>>220361763It was funny to find out later he was a raging alcoholic drinking heavily during all this.
>>220361763It's the best kind of fudging the truth. The goal is to reduce obesity. Typical you lardos refuse to protest anything but this.
>>220364757>>220364809I'm glad more people are hearing about this I heard about it years after the fact and was like well no fucking shit you were slamming junk food and booze for weeks kek
>>220365529Thing is 99% of the USA saw mcdonalds and whatnot as junk food not real food long before that movie came out. In the 80s you could almost make excuses but by the time that movie came out no one was being "educated" on anything there. Even the most 80iq nigger knows that mcdonalds isn't real food it is emergency food or trash food at best.

>>220362438Burgers worship burgers
>>220365593Just yesterday someone made this thread (see pic) on the /tv/ board. I see it all the time across 4chan, someone trying to rally people against measures taken to make junk food look unappealing. It's the most pathetic campaign.
>>220365655>and you still eat fast food at least once a day?Only time this has ever been true of anyone I know is if they are a blue collar guy burning 5000 calories+ a day working or me as a stoner teen with friends and we still knew it was trash food. The only "people" that actively do what you're suggesting are the hordes of imported browns blacks and bugs that just consume and consume whatever they can get their subhuman mits on.For every fat white guy there are 10 brown orbs it is actually crazy how many of these things came in on the waves over the last 3 decades. You used to have actually work to be fat in this country. What a disgrace.

>>220361763mcdonalds honestly doesn't even taste good.
>>220364809Interesting thing is how, despite the alcoholism, Spurlock got a healthy baseline checkup from a doctor before beginning the "experiment."Can't ask him now since he's dead, but it makes you wonder if he first abstained from drinking for a while, in preparation, so that he could get that healthy baseline, and then he resumed heavy drinking, to depict the McDonald's doing as much damage as possible. Maybe he wasn't just being dishonest about the drinking, rather being deliberately deceptive with it

My entire time in school in the 90s we were beaten over the head with THIS SHIT IS BAD ITS ALL BAD ITS JUNK FOOD DON'T EAT IT WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU. Even the dumbest niggers and spics knew it was junk food or food of last resort. By the time this movie came out the only people who didn't know that were too stupid to ever know that. 2004 btw.
>>220366294>Almost 5 years now
>>220366370Have you missed all the popov threads? The issue is that the movie was a lie. He was drinking heavily the entire time, but didn't disclose that until many years later. There's even a scene where a doctor tells him he has symptoms which resemble alcohol abuse, but the movie acts like no, the McDonald's really did that
>>220366457I just want to ask Zach if it was fucking worth it for his shitty ass movies.
>>220366476Why couldn’t the doctor tell he was an alcoholic? Is it because he wasn’t?

He claims that since he ate his first Big Mac, there have only been eight days on which he did not eat a single Big Mac. One of these days was when his mother died, and he did not eat a Big Mac to respect her request.[5] Other days included a "snow day" when McDonald's was unable to open due to snow, a Thanksgiving, days he was traveling and could not find a McDonald's, and various days Gorske had to stay at work past midnight. Gorske has since started keeping an "emergency stash" of Big Macs in his freezer for emergencies and snow days.[13]>currently 72 years old and perfectly healthyGet fucked slop-faggot.

>>220365593It was mostly urban legend type stuff. Sawdust in the burgers, fries cooked on motor oil, roaches laying eggs in the taco bell meat vats and incubating in people’s mouths, etc. all plausibly deniable stuff that people assumed the FDA would do something about if it was true/toxic. Turns out the FDA allowed for “non-lethal” levels of poison in big chains “food,” on the assumption no one would eat it daily.

>brainwashes everyone into keto
>>220366719Not sure what you're talking about but outside of "urban legends" it was widely known as unhealthy. It was always junk food. I'm not sure why people are playing revisionist here. The only time these venues were ever marketed as healthy even was with the later salad and grilled chicken marketing bullshit post super size me.Now since the mid 2000s we've had a massive dumbing down of culture due to many... factors and the population in general is much dumber and browner. Something like this would almost be more needed today, thing is the people who need that message are WAY TOO FUCKING STUPID to ever understand it.

>>220366782No one is playing “revisionist.” You just have trouble with nuanced thought. Knowing it wasn’t the healthiest thing that could be eaten isn’t the same as knowing it was literal poison that could kill you if eaten too much.
>>220366188>Still not sure why I had to watch this in high schoolThat's.....actually a good question. >>220365655I went to McDonald's today and got a Filet-O-Fish combo with a bacon cheeseburger on the side. I was eating it in my vehicle in the parking lot and listening to an audiobook when I glanced up and saw the McDonald's worker I ordered outside having a cigarette. She waved at me and I nodded and had to wait 7 minutes before she went back inside and I could eat in comfort again. I don't think that employees should be bothering or even trying to socialize with customers outside of the McDonald's restaurant or drive through, but that is another story.I went to McDonald's for dinner tonight and got a McChicken combo with a bacon cheeseburger on the side. As I was driving to the second window the same girl was still working. She was acting somewhat obsequious and attempting small talk when she asked, 'why don't you come eat inside instead of in the parking lot where it is cold'.That really bothered me for many reasons. First of all, I don't want my routine or actions to be tracked by a fast food employee. Secondly, she should not try to tell me how I should live my life. I do not want to eat inside because I find it less comfortable and would much rather be inside my vehicle listening to an audiobook and enjoying myself and my privacy.Overall, I think it was very unprofessional to bring this up. I should have a clean slate with each drive through visit, not have to get the third degree because I committed some sort of faux pas. Which I don't think I did, because I often see people eating in fast food parking lots. How does she know I am not busy going to work or somewhere in a rush? How do you feel about eating in your vehicle in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant versus eating inside the restaurant?

>>220366967it’s because there was a push in the 80s and 90s to try to inoculate kids against aggressive marketing. The obesity epidemic was also starting and considered serious due to how Russia was still considered a threat. McDonald’s “food” was essentially designed to subvert natural satiation sensations and drive kids to overeat, which would be lifetime habits. Then at some point everyone gave up on trying to curb the obesity epidemic and just pretended there was no capitalist reasons for wanting to encourage obesity and overeating.

Was it life changing? I wouldn't go quite this far but it certainly was an eye opener. No, it might not be my usual or even a frequent companion in my car, but the Filet-O-Fish holds a special place in my heart. The soft steamed bun is like a heavenly pillow that holds a perfectly crisp and flaky patty of sustainable Alaskan pollock. The tartar sauce is impeccable with just the right amount of tanginess and the perfect creamy companion to the patty; it really does tie everything together. Cheese on fish? I wasn't a believer either but that slice of processed cheddar cheese, invariably perfectly melted like you see in the ads, is a magnificient addition. Possibly superfluous, I can't say for sure because I've only had one with cheese, but I have faith that the McDonald's creators knew what they were doing when they added it; they tend to perceive the gestalt of each menu item in a way that most of us simply cannot.I am a fan of juxtaposing textures and I concede that the Filet-O-Fish does not have a contrasting crunch to balance the impossibly soft steamed bun and generous helping of tartar sauce. But you know what? It works. God knows why but it works, it really does. I sometimes alternate bites with their world famous fries, refreshing every so often with an ice cold Diet Coke that cleanses my palate and readies me for the next delightful bite. For me, it will always be the McChicken. But when I'm feeling adventuresome or just want a change from the usual perfect sandwich, I go for the Filet-O-Fish.

Tom Naughton made an excellent point that is so obvious and as far as I know so completely missed by everyone: Spurlock claimed McDonald's spent a lot of effort to make their food addicting yet his own documentary showed 1. he was disgusted by the food and didn't even want it before the month ended and 2. he stopped eating McDonald's at the end of the month and didn't crave it or go back to it at all.

>>220368640>that could only cause changes if it was at least partially trueSays fucking who?The guy made a documentary, and then admitted he lied terribly about it.The entire thing should be thrown out based on that. Keeping it around because... it's still real to you, damnit, is nonsensical.
>>220368942According to the reality we both live in where McDonald’s made drastic changes almost immediately in response to the documentary.
>>220368924are McDonalds putting anything approaching arsenic in their food?
>>220368590how many big macs do you have to eat to die?
So in this thread, people connected with the documentary are trying to convince you McDonald's is poison but alcohol is notReally makes you think
>>220369041Dunno, they stopped putting it in food after supersize me
>>220369106haven't their frying methods gotten less healthy since the 90's?
>>220369073People have been consuming alcohol for all of human history. McDonald’s only appeared 71 years ago and only morphed to its “sawdust and motor oil is food” state in the last 40
>>220369186They stopped using hydrogenated seed oils in the friers. Haven’t gone back to beef tallow though.
>>220368980what did they change?
>>220369252Why play stupid at this point?
>>220362346I liked all of those and they're examples of ineffective propaganda because they presented clear ideas to think about and critique so shortly after watching them I was firmly critical of the ideas.Hollywood movies were much more effective propaganda, the ideas they wanted you to absorb weren't articulated, they were embedded as automatic assumptions nobody "cool" would ever try to challenge. A young adult has to work to notice the assumptions to even begin to think about them.
>>220369207>i-it was around all of human history, it's okay to useWhat the fuck does this documentary have that you're this desperate to defend it? Like if someone was defending McDonald's everyone laughs it up and moves on. Whenever someone brings up the guy in the documentary is an alcoholic suddenly there's these creeps trying to gaslight people into thinking McDonald's is the only problem and not also alcohol
>>220369207It's still unscientific and dishonest to do what Spurlock did, consuming both at once.Nothing stopping someone else from eating pure McDonald's for a month, without the alcohol, and testing the effects of that. I think some have done so but it didn't get much attention
>>220369277because I don't know, and I'm asking you?

>>220369376Looking guilty is bad PR
>>220369335How is it unscientific and dishonest to get a clean bill of health and then change one thing to determine the effects of that one thing?
>>220369400Yes, but lawyers and risk aversion and whatnot. The documentary made a big stir. Everyone believed it.
>>220369427>lawyers and risk aversionThere’s no risk to avert if you aren’t guilty.
>>220369411He lied to doctors at the time and said he didn't drink. And then also lied to the audience by omitting it.As for the clean bill of health, maybe he selected doctors based on which tests they would perform, knowing one checkup would show liver damage and the other would not. Or maybe he was drinking at a more moderate level before the experiment and then sharply increased it during the month
>>220369376>The food is the samehttps://www.eatthis.com/ways-mcdonalds-food-has-become-healthier-in-the-last-decade/They now have more detailed nutritional facts and sourcing info about every item than most restaurants.

>>220369718except he had a clean bill of health before he started eating McDonald’s every day three times a day.
>>220369676The second doctor literally says it looks like he has the liver of an alcoholic.Which of course the movie would portray as being caused by the McDonald's.
>>220369695Retardation + abundance = fatYou can't change the laws of nature and blaming a glorious institution like the McDonalds corporation is another symptom of the aforementioned retardation.
>>220369695Because america has gotten browner. Have you looked into desserts from south america and the middle east? Or the amount of sugar they put in their food? There's a reason the diabetes levels in those countries is through the roof.
>>220369801I didn’t believe it until McDonald’s started massively changing everything.
>>220369811The “second doctor” was the same as the first doctor who gave him a clean bill of health. Have you even watched the documentary?
>>220369400So like when Spurlock said he always was an alcoholic while he was being canceled?

>>220369845Nobody could reproduce the experiment at the time and now the only scawy seed oils are in the fries. The burgers are health food.

The guy with a weird vendetta against fast food was a hardcore skeptic of Supersize Me until they started changing their menu. ok.
>>220369845I've seen it but it has been a long time.If it was the same doctor then I'm inclined to think Spurlock increased his drinking during the month, to help give that result.
>>220369902How do you reproduce results when the target changes everything in response to the first experiment?
>>220369849He self-canceled for no reason. He was clearly insane.
>>220369984So before the documentary came out, literally no one on the planet had eaten more than what he did for the documentary?
The issue with fast food isnt the calories. It's the preservatives and extremely low ingredient quality. It's not food. You can eat it and be just fine, but on a long enough timeline the consumption of it causes cellular damage which can lead to a host of health problems
>>220369984>at the timeThey didn't change anything until recently retard and it was mostly about removing muh seed oils and corn syrup.
>>220369937I don’t “believe” anything until there are results. Like how when they said to trust the science about the “vaccine” I said “okay call me when peer review is done,” and then it never was.
>>220369809I doubt that and it doesn't matter because if he was slugging bottles of vodka while eating mcd it would still be a factor. You sound like the defense lawyer at the dwi case I was a juror on this week. Yeah. We could prove he was drunk at the blood draw but no one can prove he was drunk when he was pulled over.
>>220370036>if he was slugging bottles of vodka while eating mcd it would still be a factorHe was also breathing air that whole time. Maybe we got the wrong culprit.
>>220370017McDonalds™ removed the preservatives, sources high quality ingredients and provides detailed information about all of them.
>>220370020No they made huge changes immediately in response to supersize me
So why is it people insist that alcohol is less harmful than McDonald's? Was the documentary funded by Big Alcohol?
>>220370072There is no data that backs up your claims. You live in a fantasy world based on parroting vague media sentiment.
>>220370017>extremely low ingredient qualityThis is a complete myth. The idea that they're using fucked up cheap meat or whatever. It's all traceable. >>220370031I just really doubt your whole narrative but anyways if you think McDonald's is bad, then why? Because... you think Spurlock lied about lying and McDonald's changed its menu because it was actually bad? The changes it made were very minor you know
>>220368980The changes made were a PR response. They did not significantly change anything with their menu other than removing Supersize because the documentary had poisoned the term. McDonalds tried Salads in the past and they sold poorly. Nobody wanted a Salad when they went to McDonalds they wanted the tasty unhealthy treat.
>>220365913they literally showed a guy who eat mcdonalds every day and he was like 50 and not fat

>>220370927water is necessary to life. poisons aren't.
>>220370752A bowl of rice is also 300 calories and entirely carbohydrates. Fat is healthy unless you eat like 200% of the recommended daily serving every day. The burger is relatively balanced. A meal has two of the small burgers + 230 calories of fries (carbohydrates) + 200 calories of coke (carbohydrates). That's 1k calories, half your daily need. The lack of balance comes from the uniformity of the fries and coke. Some fruit, veggies and protein the rest of the day corrects the balance.Personally my diet has been mostly carbohydrates for decades but I'm not fat and literally never needed a doctor. I would still be better off with a more balanced diet, especially if I ate more.
