SNL was never funny
>>220372013Truly wasn't. Only the dumbest NPCs disagree
>>220372013This guy has the most punchable face in Hollywood history and his "comedy" has aged like a sack of poop.
Being live and including celebrities significantly lowers the bar.
>>220372094Jiminy Glick is hilarious
Correct. Phil Hartman was funny though.
>>220372145Also trying to parody current events every single week. Instantly dated and rushed because they don't give themselves time to make it funny
>>220372155Beat me to it
>>220372013 SCTV was.
>>220372013only legit funny years was with the Chris Farley Adam Sandler Phil Hartman cast
>>220372304for me its the Randy Quaid Robert Downey Jr Anthony Michael Hall season
Marion Barry likes crack. Michael Jackson is a homosexual pedophile. PRISON RAPE.
>>220372336Colin Quinn was always funnier than this cancuck faggot and I'm tired of pretending otherwise!
>>220372304The loud fat guy act has never been and will never be funny.
>>220372348Tough Crowd and him on O&A are god tier kino, but even he'd be the first to admit he sucked dick hosting Weekend Update
>>220372155so is Clifford
>>220372336Thank God that he's dead. What an unfunny prick. God decided that he had enough of his unfunny antics. That's why Norm is in hell right now
>>220372377Speak ill of the dead.
>>220372013
>>220372013OH NO!!! THREE DENNIS MILLERS!
The entire Phil Hartman era is incredible, all of it.
>>220372348Colin Quinn tries to play the intellectual but ends up coming across as an unintelligent retard. He gropes for punchlines like a blind man in the dark.
KYS, OP. Seriously.
This was funny in the 1980s.
>>220372330worst cast worst season
I'm convinced Jim Downey is responsible for like 80% of funny SNL sketches/bits everhonestly think he is more important to SNL's history than Lorne
Meanwhile, in prison, >>220372377 will be raped all day long. Possibly by OJ Simpson.
>>220372564Him and Robert Smigel basically they were like the two big writers responsible for a majority of all the iconic sketches in the best years of SNL (late 80s to mid 90s) and to a lesser extent Conan, Jack Handey, Bob Odenkirk and Franken & Davis
>>220372520Kazurinsky was based
>>220372659Ain’t that sweetchuck from police academy?
>>220372013Didn’t his daughter kill herself like a month ago?
Sketch comedy is ALWAYS hit and miss. The State, Mr. Show, WKUK, in living color. There's funny sketches, and there's dumb sketches that only the writers think are hilarious. People look back on late 80s/early 90s SNL with rose-tinted glasses. Mostly because they were young teens/young adults during the time. Go back and watch 10 full episodes of SNL from 1993. No fast forwarding. It gets old really fast. Maybe 1 out of every 10 sketches was actually funny. They went on way too long. Phil Hartman was better than Farley and Sandler combined
>>220372772>Mostly because they were young teens/young adults during the time. Go back and watch 10 full episodes of SNL from 1993. No fast forwarding. It gets old really fast. Maybe 1 out of every 10 sketches was actually funny. It's ironic that you're mentioning this because I did it right after Norm died. I binged SNL, watched every episode available from like 1988 to 2008, mostly on archive org, and the hit rate on sketches during the late 80s/early 90s in particular was incredibly high. Infact, those shows were so loaded with great sketches that often good stuff would get pushed until weeks later. It's the most consistent stretch from a sketch comedy show ever.Maybe you're just not old enough to appreciate the jokes of the time, a lot of which are contemporary and I guess would confuse a zoomer.
>>220372830Bitch I'm 35. "You like'a de juice" is funny for 1 minute. The sketch goes on for 7. That's the 90s in a nutshell. Really funny premises that got bled dry
Will Ferrell had some amazing sketches. Not the recurring character easy to churn out shit, but the one off insane ones. Like the morning talk show losing the teleprompter, or the doctor losing the baby, or the two wedding singers who only learned the first couple of bars of a (I just) died in your arms tonight (which never gets shown because they're too cheap for song licensing).
>>220372865Evil boss with pierce brosnan is a classic Farrell sketch
>>220372013the sky is blue
>>220372857>I'm 35So what? I'm 40 and most of the jokes are written for the news cycle when I was like 3-8 years old. Even I'm barely familiar enough with the subject matter of a lot of what they're joking about. You probably wouldn't be at all.Anyway, there's no accounting for poor taste.
>>220372013They kind of retconned themselves with how shitty they've been for so many years, but yeah it's true even the "classic" snl stuff isnt funny

>who is..uh... Scooby-Doo >y'know that was a funny dog, Scooby-Doo. He used to ride around in a van and solve mysteries>"that is INCORRECT">... no, that's correct. He had a pal, Scrappy
>>220372927The sky is literally every color in the rainbow and then some, retard.
>>220372304Making copies and van down by the river
The Farley era was the funniest. Slapstick with fat people always gets chuckles out of people.
>>220372348He had some funny material but he couldn't deliver a line properly with a gun to his head. Listening to him stammer his way through a monologue was painful
>>220372830>Tranime poster trying to act tough

>>220372520Still is.
>>220372366Checked. Agreed.
>>220373936
>>220372013Anyone ever been able to sit through the original era? Everytime I tried I died of boredom lol that 70s humor just seems so corny and lame nowadays
>>220372013It's always been hit or miss and some seasons are stronger than others. Your pic is from one of the worst eras, I must say.
If you don’t think pic related is funny, then I don’t know what the fuck to tell you…
>>220372094His Jerry Lewis impression still holds up, fuck off.
>>220374246Same as now. If you don't like recent SNL episodes. There's no helping you. It's just is
>>220372013SNL stopped being funny once it became the AHHH DRUMPF!!!! ORANGE MAN BAD show

>>220372377attacking a /tv/ sacred cow? so heckin edgy!
>>220374280It was always a libtard show, before that it was the AHHH DUBYA!!!! BUSH MAN BAD show
>>220374280That was actually its funniest seasons. Stay triggered
/tv/ is nothing but>uncs found this funny/scary over and over and over again
>>220374280They literally boosted him during his presidential run by platforming him and their take on trump is more about his dementia than him being intentionally bad like all the other political comedy shows.
>>220372772you're right. i tired watching chappelle's show a few years ago and almost every sketch stinks. the ones that are good are hilarious, but most episodes didn't have a good sketch.
>>220374280nah it stopped being funny way before that
>>220374271>same as nowHey nigger, modern SNL is unwatchable. You’re apart of the problem if you find any of that garbage even remotely humorous.
recent SNL is more like a social club that happens to do sketches. You can tell they care more about fame and connections than making a good show.
And water is wet.
>>220374280Nah, mid 2000s was when it died.>Seth Meyers was a head writer for Saturday Night Live from 2006 to 2014.
>>220374280Rogan and every other famous and rich comedian decided years later that dressing like Trump and doing a Trump impression is actually the funniest thing ever
>>220374383Sounds based. Jealous?
>>220374351He didn't present an argument as to why just like other guy. No need for this meltdown
>>220372520Sweetchuck and Zed will fuck you up for talking shit.

>>220374823Play a drinking game.Take a shot everytime he mentions Trump. You will die of alcohol poisoning. It's not even funny.
>>220374983Keep crying about it
>>220375000Ain't crying. I hate Trump. It's just ridiculous at this point.Shut up, read your teleprompter, and act normal.
>>220375025You are crying. Keep doing it
>>220375000There is zero comedy in all of late night. You're still not getting checked cause you love dicks in your asshole.
>>220375000Go to bed, Seth.It's 1a Pacific.
>>220374144I've seen some of the skits but I suspect those were picked rather selectively and there were plenty of turkeys that never get posted.
>>220374983Most of his Weekend Update shit was him reaching with false equivalences. None of it was funny. I assume his crappy talk show is the same way
>>220372013Fuck you dude, the Carvey and Lovitz and Nealon and Hartman years ruled. 1986-1993 was legit good comedy.
They have some funny stuff here and there but most skits are just setup, repetition/escalation, and then it stops. It doesn't end, it just stops. They don't give a shit about endings if they have some people saying/doing funny things.A typical bit would be:Setup:>Oh boy, I'm waiting for the bus with a few other people. Wait, why is this guy wearing a bird costume?>"hey guy, on your way to a party?">"No..?">"Oh. Well it's a little late for a halloween costume?">"What do you mean? I'm not wearing a costume."repetition/escalation>"What do you mean? Of course you are, you're dressed like a bird!">"I don't know what you're talking about">"Hey woman, you're seeing this too, right? He's dressed as a bird?">"What do you mean? No he isn't, please don't talk to me, weirdo.">"See, I'm not dressed as a bird. Oh, here's my friend coming to meet me.>"Wait, hold on, he's also dressed as a bird!!!"... and so on. Nothing really happens, it's just repeating the same point. And then it stops:>"Well, time for lunch" - both bird-people open up cans of literal worms and start eating them>"Oh, COME ON!"The End.That's it, that's a typical SNL skit. Just something wacky that happens, they squeeze some lines out of a bizarre situation, and then just stop. No punchline, just shut it down and move on.
>>220372377>Thank God that he's dead. What an unfunny prick. God decided that he had enough of his unfunny antics. That's why Norm is in hell right now
>>220372659I like how "dirty" the Ebersol years look and feel, if that makes sense.
