why were r*dditors so obsessed with zombie movies around 2010?

I saw this when it was new and thought it sucked and didn't find it funny at all, I seem to be in a minority but eh I dunno, I find Jesse Eisenberg unwatchable
>>
>>220373794
Same here. Except it's Emma Stone. Bitch is ugly and can't act

I always found it odd how around 2010 there was this obsession with zombies. Even video games were full with them. I thought they would drop off but then the japs and the south koreans got in to it too.
But what I noticed the most is that the fans were the most reddit fedora wearing fat asses, while I thought zombies were just awful and not a fun place to live in.
Glad it seems to be dying off.

>>220373755
covid was based

Resident Evil movies, Dawn of the Dead remake, and the massive popularity of The Walking Dead. Zombie media was definitely a big draw in the 2000s/2010s. Also had World War Z in 2013 although I did not see that.
>>
>>220373668
It's not kino. It's childish garbage
>>
>>220373821
Yeah it's years past time. Dead Rising had huge success in 2006, 2009 was Zombieland then 2010 was Walking Dead which about everyone watched at least for the first season. That went on to spawn like 5 fucking spinoffs that I've never met a single person watches them lol. They ran zombies into the damn ground for me
>>
>>220373579
>LE HECKING FUNNY AND WACKY!
there was nothing funny or wacky about the zombies in this film. they were regular zombies.
>>
and honestly I'm tired of zombies for a real life reason, about anywhere I go in my town now I'll see some junkie fuck that might as well be a zombie
>>
>>220373877
what do you like then, fag?
>>
>>220373821
koreans have always loved zombie genre, train to busan and kingdom are absolute kino
>>
>>220373579
OP are you 17 or something or did you just watch too many Mauler videos and sit in front of a movie overanalysing every unimportant detail like everything has to make perfect sense.
Shut the fuck up
>>
>>220373877
it's good not because it's a visually great film but because it's a fantasy of 2010s America meeting a brutal fate much more satisfying than a 2012 or whatever zoomer hungry games movie.
>>
>>220373917
Based dimwit. Hollywood execs love you.
>>
>>220373794
All of those pathetic quippy jew nerds they kept pushing are annoying and spoil the movie.
>>
>>220373579
I watched the sequel with sub-zero expectations and was surprised that it was kind of half decent. I expected the retarded bimbo chick to be a lot more annoying but they actually played her straight instead of making her the preachy writer self-insert.

Koreans atleast approach it realistically, I enjoyed train to busan, until that big guy wraps his arms up and holds off a zombie horde on his own for no fucking reason

the young girl ruins BOTH movies.
what a fucking shit character and shit actress
holy shit the young sister is fucking retarded.

both movies she puts everyone in danger. ungrateful cunt. just awful acting.
everything bad in both movies is her fault.

zombies havent been mainstream for like a decade at this point, and it was already waning years before that too. Zombies peaked in the last 2000s/early 2010s you boomer.

>>220374587
Very mid
>>
>>220374587
It is not really worth your time.
>>
>>220374587
it's the same plot as the first but more annoying
the little girl is tired of the old guy and leaves with a pothead hippy.
they have to go find her. same shit as the first
they meet random weird people. same rules, same jokes
watch it for completion sake but don't expect anything new, except annoying weird new people

Resident Evil and 28 Days Later, The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks came out in 2003, then Shaun of the Dead in 04 kicked it off in earnest. Highschool of the Dead and Corpse Party in 2006-07 along with dead rising in Japan. Then there was Left 4 Dead in 08.
>>
>>220373579
>obsessed with zombie movies around 2010?
zombie movies came back in the early 2000s with the dawn of the dead remake, shawn of the dead and 28 days later and
>muh criticism of bush and consumerism
it's more like snyder, gunn and pegg were all 12 when the romero zombie movies were coming out so they made their own films and it was a popular meme at the time with teens due to the pseudo intellectual part of it, the various vidya games coming out like halo that let you kill what were essentially zombies and there was a big push at the time in the gun community because zombie = minority

If you liked the first, you will definitely love it. Its great for fans and brings new characters. The blonde is both hot and funny.
>>
>>220373579
zombieland is still great and zombies done well will always be entertaining. time has already shown this you dumb zoomer faggot.
>>
>>220373821
It was a relatively peaceful times back then, post 9/11, war is cooling down, people sing bunch of songs about peace, et cetera, because of peaceful times people eventually got bored and say
>lets make something where we fight something that is not human
and zombie media becomes popular overnight.
I mean who can get mad over someone killing zombie? They are zombie, they are dead and morally speaking, killing them means you set them free, it was some kind of unification media where everyone agrees on one thing, and there you have it: zombie media production here and there

in 2010s android play stores were full of zombie games, 1000s of different zombie games, i thought the zombie movies were probably because of that, but i am not sure how zombies became popular with phone gaming back in the day

Call of Duty Black Ops.

They were easily the worst part of the movie, but at least it wasn't a "they were right all along" thing, the movie did point out that they were being fucking retarded. They still should have died though

>overnight
The zombie trend of the 2000s started with 28 Days Later, then with the Dawn of the Dead remake and compounded with a ton of other shitty zombie movies, like the nonstop Resident Evil movies. It peaked in the late 2000s/early 2010s. There was practically a 15 year period where zombie media was mainstream.
>>
>>220377470
Shaun of the Dead and the Zombie Survival Guide was a big part of it coming into popularity as well

Zombieland will always be one of my personal favorites. The sequel isn't nearly as good.
