its because of the color grading, and the anti-film movement of corporations using AI to create perfect product for mass consumption.

Also notice how no one sweats in cinema anymore.
>>
>>220390757
Because they aren't interacting with a real environment anymore. They're standing in a giant green room talking to a tennis ball on a stick. It's impossible to act naturally when you're just pretending a giant CGI monster is standing in front of you.

>>220390829
because you grew up
>>
>>220390891
But old movies still look good
>>
>>220390885
Reflects poorly on the actors then, their entire job is to make us believe they're someone they're not in a situation they're not really in. Could it possibly be that actors just aren't of the same caliber anymore?
>>
we've made too many of them so now they have to be synthetic
>>
>>220390857
yep, it's the muted colors and the lack of traditional studio lights
>>
If you are unable to enjoy literally any fiction that's just depression.
>>
I didn't read the thread but last night I watched The Thing and what really stuck out to me in that film compared to films made for modern audiences is that no one in Hollywood can act and no one in Hollywood can write now. The characters and acting in The Thing really sucked me into the films universe. That's never happened to me in a modern audience film. Just thought you'd like to know. Thanks for asking.
>>
>>220390891
False
>>
>>220390757
Everything has to feel like a commercial because the modern normie is unable to imagine or fill in the blanks and needs everything explained to them. A benefit of removing pattern recognition from schools. Don't believe me? Go work customer service for an hour and you'll see. Everyone either suffers from brain fog or mental retardation and is incapable of understanding basic tasks without being guided through it completely.

CGI. They are pushing the digital era really strong. Like, everything digital. At one point they will try to turn you into some kind of digital human being. It's crazy. We are very far from the analog technology which is the very one technology that makes movies feel real and organic. Take the movie Escape from New York. The first one holds so fucking well even to this day because it was practical effects, everything was analog. But then take the sequence dumped at 1996 if I'm not mistaken. It is shit because the CGI was dated as soon as the movie was released. Even the company which did the CGI closed after it. So this will only become more prominent, this problem, because everything is CGI nowaways, AI. Your brain picks it up. We live in the real world where the world is not digital. The world is analog. We are analog beings. So digital will always look unnatural to us. Your brain picks it up and it manifests this as the uncanny valley effect.

This is a big one for me. Movies used to be inspired by real experiences, by classic art, literature, etc. Now it's just faggots forever wanking the same five or six 70s/80s franchises til the end of time.

Not being able to enjoy even good things is one of the major symptoms of clinical depression.
>>
>>220390829
Because actors now aren't real people. They're rich kids who never dealt with real problems. Actors used to have lived their lives before starting.

Charles Bronson grew up in rags, and boxed to eat, so that shows up in his performances.
he was hardened by the world, so it was believable when he played character like Kersey.

Nowadays, most actors are just fucking rich kids whose parents bought them careers. And if they weren't, they just fuck people for roles. There's zero reason Jennifer Lawrence has an oscar when her best acting was when didn't through up for letting a hideous kike pig turn her face into a jackson pollock painting.

I honestly think movies are getting better, not worse. There is an argument about cinematography and editing trends making the movies feel less sensual and more abstract, but that shouldn't be a huge issue for anyone not already severely psychologically impaired.

>>220394224
They were saying the same thing in the 2010s, 1990s, 1980s, 1950s… you will always have people claiming everything new is terrible and only the old stuff they grew up with was good. You’ve just become your parents generation that bitched about how all the music, movies etc. that you liked was better when they were young. Congrats on becoming just as whiny of a bore.
>>
>>220394598
I basically accepted it as a technological and cultural change. 1950s and 1970s movies were also very different looking, but I enjoyed tons of movies from both decades.
I think my only problem is with mainstream American cinema. I don't enjoy most of the new stuff, it's just too childish and I don't even hate genre fiction.
>>
>>220394598
>Interesting, isn't it a good thing that movies managed to be more immersive in the past though? How is that op's fault?
They don't have to be physically immersive to be immersive. If OP can not enjoy movies because he's less physically immersed, then the problem lies mainly with OP. Literal touch grass situation.
>Is that something you say about everyone that disagrees with you?
No. In this particular case it seems appropriate, though. Their criticism is lack of carnality, betraying intellectual poverty, assuming they aren't all depressed.

>>
>>220394757
>But it does help with the feeling of anemonia that great cinema can invoke.
You mean anemoia. And it depends on what you're watching. If it's something historical, sure, it being shot on film or color-graded and edited in a way that recalls the period in question can do a lot.
>I wasn't talking about this thread in particular. Plenty of people that dislike modern cinema have different reasons to hate it.
Honestly, if someone HATES modern film, I just treat them as clowns.
>>
>>220394815

Yeah, my bad. In general I prefer the way colors were used by the old masters, it felt like they alone could do characterization as well as good dialogue.

Yeah, hate is too strong of a word. What if they just dislike it or are not interested in it?

I don't think there's a lot to that. Most older film has mediocre writing. These days, the variety seems greater.

I think lack of stationary cameras are a big part of it. Previously scenes were shot like as if a window looking into another world. Now the camera jumps around and around, zooming in and out and shaking to and fro to “immerse you in the action!” but it rarely has that effect. If anything it makes you feel as if you’re watching a deliberate production and not like someone left a camera out filming real people doing actual things.

Firstly, they're not SJWs. That term is outdated. random "intersectional" minority groups banding together to take down da hwhite man
>>
>>220397729
Nice projection. No, I don't care for gay things. And I especially don't have images of gay men saved on my device. Unlike you.

They don't act like they did in the early Trump/Gaymergayed days anymore. The term is retired. That particular species of libtard practically extinct. Get with the times.

>Firstly, they're not SJWs. That term is outdated.
According to CEO of faggotry? When did it become outdated?
>What you have sitting in those companies now are people from minority groups lobbying for their self-interest, be they transgender, brown, etc.
So exactly like SJW?
>"Woke" is rarely the problem with game releases (or film releases these days).
According to who? Yeah, if only Concord had good gun play everyone would play it of course

>When did it become outdated?
It got retired when they started reheating the SJWs owned/cringe compilations around the 2020 election. Biden's election was the switch in general. 2024 had no SJW phenomenon, if you recall. The hysteria that characterized them isn't the same anymore.
>So exactly like SJW?
No. They're about themselves or their group. It's not millennial white Karens for the most part.
>According to who? Yeah, if only Concord had good gun play everyone would play it of course
Me. Concord had shit character design and chose an already overcrowded genre.

Again, the word is retired. Only geriatrics still use it.
