You're thrusted in from the perspective of someone completely disconnected from any of the events that occurred in 1. You'll miss some references and background info, but none of it is super crucial. Most people got into the franchise through RE2 anyways so you'll be fine.Still, RE1 is a very short game. Doesn't hurt to give it a shot. If you want a super friendly version to speed through it, play the DS version. It has a visible map and some QOL features that were introduced in RE3. Ignore anyone who days skip RE1 entirely in favor of the REmake.
