It was slack and overlong, too Hollywood etc., possibly better off as a miniseries or something to break up the story into sections. Maybe an old school intermission, unthinkable in 2004. I've never stayed engaged through the whole thing. Paris shooting Achilles sounds impossibly deep into the movie, hours of slightly stiff costume drama, I don't think I ever made it that far. It's actually amazing how good it looks today just by having better physical sets and costumes.
