This movie was actual trash. I am not a huge MK fan. I played 2 and 3, loved the 90s movie despite some obvious flaws. Thought the 2021 MK movie was meh, like a 5/10 movie but this MKII movie just felt exhaustively bad like 3/10. But not just for woke or "girl boss" reasons. It was just slop shit. It was like taking the worst parts of capeshit movies and throwing it on MK. Too many characters who don't do shit or dont have meaningful stakes and the plot just ramps along quickly in the form of>the villains need this item>they got it>now they need this thing to put into that item>oh no they got it>now they are immortal>we need to destroy it>we can with all of our powers pointed at it like harry potter wizard wand streams>hooray!And inbetween those scenes lets sprinkle in the most MEANINGLESS fights. Then good guy Jax vs should-be-good-guy Jade, surprise - they both live because they are good. Lui Kang fights Pet Semetary Kung Lao, and the pointless zombie-kung lao dies. Cole Han then fights Shao Kahn. Gee maybe the fan-hated Cole Han can take out the big bad less than halfway through the movie. I mean he is acting cocky and confident enough, maybe he can pull this of-SPLAT. Seriously the first 5 fights in this movie were Meaningless TRASH. Then you had characters flip flopping pointlessly, Kano is bad, Kano is good, Jade is Good, Jade is Bad, Jade is good. It never seemed to matter and everything just happens for no real reason amongst way too much super hero-y music and bad quips and joss whedon dialogue-moments and Baraka turns into Drax from GotG. I love Urban but he should not have been Johnny Cage. Also bad effects, weird weightless fighting, not much interesting deaths to add any excitement. I just wanted the movie to hurry up and end cause it SUCKED.

I have played mk 1,2,3, ultimate, some random thing on the gamecube, mk vs dc, mk9, and mk11, up to and including injustice 1 and 2, and having seen the original mk movie several times on, and saw the last reboot exactly once when I torrented it. and despite that, I literally had no idea what was going in this new movie. the hat guy is not-ryu’s brother? you can slice raiden’s throat? and he shoots lazers from his neck which you can put in a disc that makes you immortal? 95 is still the best.That being said. The first movie was bad from the start by them creating a character not in the games to be the protagonist. Thats a huge no no for me and i didnt watch it because of that fact alone. Watching clips of it here and there, I saw I didnt miss much as it seemed very generic and not great overall. This movie, on the other hand was a step in the right direction, on many fronts and i will say that it is soundly better then the first, to the point that they should have made THIS one the first one. However, while being better than basically garbage is a good start, it didn't really get much better overall. I would give it a 6. Editing and story are choppy as fuck, fights looked half cringe worthy, others were alright. If i watched Mortal Kombat 2 as a netflix special i'd say, ok, yeah that was decent for Netflix. For a major motion picture though...not great. Again, passable, decent enjoyment but had alot of glaring problems.

Also some kino arenas appear.All that could easily be made a movie but the retards in writing always want to combine the first and second games now.

It was good, except Quan Chi and Sindel got done dirty. Hardly useful and hardly any screen time for both, which was upsetting considering how menacing they are in the games (mk9 sindel takes out nearly a dozen fighters at once ffs).
