almost 25 years later and there's still never been a good movie about 9/11. why? it would be the ultimate disaster movie. how long will we have to wait for a 9/11 movie?
>>220408470it's not good
>>220408450no movie would ever be able to capture the feeling of 2001 nostalgia
>>220408450They could make one akin to Cloverfield. Some people running around with a video camera filming their experience.
>>220408499they could make this movie except out of actual real stitched together footage because there are many amateur videos from that day
>>220408450
>>220408450For some reason, Israel hasn't handed over all of the footage they shot that day.
>>220408450United 93 is great
>>220408450original footage can't be topped.https://www.youtube.com/@WTCFOIAVideosalso hard to make a compelling story with twists and turns like in a classic drama with a central protagonist out of this tragedy. everyone's fate is sealed withing seconds without ever seeing it comingUnited 93 is pretty much as good as it gets. some good TV reenactments as well fort the more human touch.
>Following the September 11 attacks in 2001, numerous films and television shows edited or removed the World Trade Center Twin Towers from their footage to avoid distressing audiences. Key examples include the digital removal of towers from Zoolander (2001) and Spider-Man (2002), as well as changing the climax of Men in Black II (2002)WAHHH I CANT STAND TO SEE BUILDINGS ON TV!!! LETS GIVE ALL OUR MONEY TO ISRAEL!!!
>>220408550They did this, they are called documentaries
>>220408617This is literally why buildings barely get destroyed anymore. Look back at a movie like Armageddon where the twin towers get hit by meteors, never again.Even Roland Emmerich got cucked:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvPXoLBKd_A
>>220408482it doesn't say GOOD 9/11 movie. simply 9/11 movie, which nicholas cage promoting the war in iraq to topple the great tyrant and belligerent to israel. the lion of babylon. monke bush sees dead marines every night like LBJ did
Israel isn't just a fan - they're protecting the lore
>>220408708
>>220408604This
>>220408450Rudy: The Rudy Giuliani Storyjames woods rules
>>220408482It was probably as good as a major hollywood 9/11 movie could be given all the thorny elements one has to content with.
It's time for a 9/11 comedy, not modern comedy style I'm talking how they used to make movies in that era.
>>220411072>watch out for that first step, it's a doozy!
>>220408604Yep
>>220408450They did.
>>220411137This guy died in like 2004. There's absolutely no real evidence the US didn't just make up leads so they could continue fucking around in the middle east.
If I was in that tower it would have gone down different
>>220411162>aim for the bushes
>>220408450Creativity and talent in Hollywood died along with those towers.I think how kino it would be to cash in on the nostalgia of the late 90s.
>>220408450nothing can top news broadcasts from that day
>>220408450Its weird. Most kino livet tv event ever - zero Hollywood good films. Strange
>>220413212the amateur recordings from the streets are better than the news broadcasts. maybe the first 30 minutes of pure chaos, but they quickly became sanitized and full of talking heads they go hand-in-hand to form the full picture.
>>220408450think about who owns hollywood
>>220413256try to make a good satisfying three-act story for a paying audience that you can wrap up in two hours out of it. not so easy as it seems.
>>220412571What a terrible image for a thread, reminds me of ANTS
>>220413258It was so funny how quickly the "shaky footage of people running from a dust cloud down a high street" became the must-have shot in a disaster movie.
>>220413351well nobody knew what an actual uncontrolled building collapse with civilians around looked like before. i remember plenty of "outrunning the fireball" shots in movies previously though.but maybe you have a point, paul greengrass started the shakycam aesthetic shortly after, I don't know if he was specifically inspired by 9/11 footage.
>>220408450>almost 25 years later and there's still never been a good movie about 9/11. why?because even quite a few americans are amused by these movies inviting americans to feel patriotically sorry for themselves, which I'm sure will disappoint all you sophisticated foreigners
>>220408450I'm sure it has nothing to do with control of the industry, OP.
The Evan Fairbanls fooatge is the closest thing to having Stanley Kubrick filming the disaster in real-time in the streets. I mean someone who had an eye for framing and composition, and being in the right place at the right time. He's got the famous money shot of the plane hitting the tower overhead, but his footage is full of amazing well-framed shots and captuing little details other than just pointing the camera towards the tower..His tower collapse footage is perhaps some of the awe-inspiring real footage ever captured, getting the full massive cloud of dust closing him on him in a wide shot and about as well-framed as can be from a guy running for his life at the same time.https://youtu.be/pz6_8WAIGb4?si=E-Mm91IvUMN-AKvU
a 9/11 movie will cause further generational divide when boomers see that basically everyone under 25 doesn't take 9/11 seriously and finds it funny as hell and the source of ironic humor.
>>220413602Let's say YOU are in control of the film industry. What kind of 9/11 story would you finance?
>>220408450isn't there a film about the plane that crashed in pennsylvania?
>>220413696yes, they juiced out all the typical Hollywood bits from the tragedy in that one and it was a tough sell.
>>220413695One in which MARK WAHLBERG's actually on the plane, predictably fails to live up to his pretensions and dies frenziedly copulating with another guy like a beast in a slaughterhouse.(He bottoms).
>>220413696Yeah and it was meh. Still the best 9/11 movie. The point is there really are very few movies on the subject and all of them suck ass
>>220408450The first film about the Titanic came out 29 days after it sank
>>220413813and kino it washttps://youtu.be/ucWPQFbrczQ?si=buKtg25f7haL7UAh
>>220413813my bad>>220413858 this is clickbait trashthe actual movie is lost to history.
>>220408470very mid movie, anon
>casting real actors to play crisis actors
>>220408450this event single-handedly killed the disaster movie genre for well over a decade because yanks lost their taste for seeing americans die, you really think they were gonna make a movie about it?
>>220415177>this event single-handedly killed the disaster movie genre for well over a decadeYou fuckin wot m8?
>>220415401well done you found the one exception. it's a notable phenomena, you don't have to try and disprove it. the movies that did come out were also a lot more dower in tone, like War of the Worlds.
>>220415448>the one exceptionHow about The Core? Or Reign of Fire? Or Children of Men? Surely you jest.
