All the Degrassi fags have had the most pathetic careers, JUST
>>
don't give a fuck about your gay Hunger Games shit.

where are my second attempts at Eragon and The Darren Shan Saga?
>>
>>220411684
Young adults in a full scale brutal experiment is a movie category in itself, I'm nostalgic of this trend.
>>
>>220411684
I think I only ever saw one of these, but I still feel kinda bad for the cast and crew. Imagine being the only young adult fantasy books-turned-movie series to fail so hard you couldn't even do your final movie.
>>
>>220411684
I miss when actresses at least made a token effort at sexuality even if she had no ass.
>>
Top 10 worst movies of all time
>>
>>220411684
The kicker is they didn't even bother finishing the fucking series lmao. They planned a two-part finale movies like all the YA adaptations back then, made the first part then never bothered to make the final movie.
>>
I thought The Mortal Instruments was better in terms of YA slop.
>>
>>220413566
>Budget: $305 million (3 films)
>Box office: $765 million (3 films)
It didn't even flop, they were just lazy.

would

Of course you would you freak

i watched them all and actually enjoyed them. twice. so fuck you guys.

If I wanted to watch some 2010's dystopian YA slop having had little experience with the genre before, what movies would you guys recommend?

While not a book, Jupiter Ascending was alright.
>>
>>220414408
The Maze Runner series

>Nuclear winter? Psh whatever.
>>

>Jupiter Ascending was alright
You are weird
>>
>>220411684
This was easily the weirdest, most nonsensical series from the YA adaptation era.
>>
>>220414545
I still say its Maze Runner that holds that title. With Divergent it was at least some dystopian societal control they were trying to achieve. Maze Runner they were trying to create a cure for zombies by putting children in massive death traps to scare them to figure out why they were immune. Talk about some overly elaborate bullshit
>>
>>220413113
The latter is never happening and it's better that way
>>
>>220414700
This. Cirque Du Freak is great as just a book series. Vampire's Assistant (movie) was so bad that it nearly ruined the entire 12-book saga for me.
>>
>>220414150
More like greedy. Disney will pump out at least 3 more film with number like this right now.
>>
>>220414408
Hunger Games, because the movies are a complete package at least.
>>
>>220414609
To an adult it's retarded, but if you're a kid in the American public school system it makes sense to learn the adults are torturing you/releasing monsters to kill you (school shooters) for some bizarre goal.
>>
>>220411684
I enjoyed the first one

Man, I hate YA novels with dystopia theme so much. What's the appeal?

It appeals to kids in public school.

Why not private schools?

It's from show she's doing with Lindsay Lohan

Adolescence in the post-war era of the 20th century onward feels totalitarian, and in a practical sense it is. Like >>220416285 said YA novels echo the experience of being conditioned for corporate make-work while simultaneously turning communication and human rites of passage into profit driven team sports, with emphasis put on imbuing establishment sensibilities rather than discovering for themselves the world around them. 60 years of refinement has created a well oiled machine to atomize young people and disillusion them with the broken communities they're meant to occupy.

Teenagers are considered naive for acknowledging this but acceptably so, due to their age; therefore they've become a very profitable manufactured demographic to market to in every subsequent generation. YA books and communities provide a necessary escapist outlet for potentially dangerous feelings of unrest toward the system.
>>
>>220416005
Easy conflict
>>
>>220413093
This isn't Nina Dobrev. This is Secret Life of the American Teenager-girl.
>>
>>220414150
Third movie scared the studio.

The YA fad was over.
>>
>>220417602
That's a brutal drop, wtf happened in 2016? A war or something?
>>
>>220417324
This. Never forget the modus operandi of the system towards any opposition is typically: co-opt, mislead, dilute, and well-poison. At least, unless that unrest becomes violent revolt.
>>
>>220417957
Didn't you hear? We Made the Americas Grande Again.
>>
>>220417602
People actually watched this trash?
>>
>>220417602
Didn't they decide to make a show instead of a fourth movie and Woodley told them she had already done her time doing shitty YA shows and was done with them?
>>
>>220417324
>America went from safe prosperous communities where everyone knew everyone to a bankrupt crime-filled atomized shithole full of drugs and thrillkill violence
>all it took was one simple ingredient
Integration.

Zoomies would weep if they could travel back to the 1950s and see how easy life was.
>>
>>220414150
That’s a loss anon. Studios don’t get more than half the gross and even less of the international gross.
>>
>>220418201
Nah more than double is still a profit, even if it's a small one. The problem is that we can't count all 3 films together, and the third one is definitely a flop. >>220417602
>>
>>220418319
You’re not only wrong, you’re stupid. If studios get less than half of the domestic gross and even less of the international gross, it means they get around 37%-42% of the total gross, depending on the domestic:international ratio. As international is trading yield for volume.
>>
>>220418427
You're not only stupid, you're a cretin.
>>
> Maze Runner > Hunger Games >>>>>> Divergent

> Kaya Scodelario >>>>>> Milf Naomi Watts > Jennifer Lawrence >>>>>>>>>>>>> Fat Divergent bitch
>>
>>220417957
The YA adaptation fad peaked in 2012/2013 with the end of Twilight/decline of Hunger Games.

The second Detergent movie declining domestically was already a bad sign. That usually means people are souring on it. There's a trend where series start shrinking in the US/Canada, but it's not enough to kill the series, so the studio pumps out more. Then a movie or two later the series completely collapses both domestically and internationally. Transformers and Fast & Furious are two examples of that.
>>
>>220418498
I accept your concession. Hope you learn how to math one day.
