/trek/ bros i recently finished Voyager and I'm so disappointed. The show had so much potential. I'm so disappointed I don't even feel like watching Enterprise. What sci fi show should I watch next? I'm planning on watching Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, one of the Stargate shows, Farscape, Andromeda and maybe Andor. I never watched anything Star wars. Do any of these shows actually deliver/fulfill their premise?

>>220413730I hate how modern television shows have their dialogue dumbed down severely. It's either because they know the audience isn't paying attention (second screen viewing), or the audience is too low IQ to understand articulate characters. And it's going to get even worse as media is made for Gen Alpha who is stuck at a 2nd grade reading level.TNG and DS9 dialogue genuinely feels like it's coming from another world.

I decided to check out Prodigy last night. I like how TNG and DS9 spent so much time building up the Maquis specifically as a major backstory for VOY, but once VOY decided to do absolutely nothing with the Maquis DS9 just turned them into a minor occasional annoyance who meet an anticlimactic end.

>>220418938First 2 seasons are hurt by the main characters being unlikeable idiots, Vulcans retconned into being assholes, a running time travel plot that goes nowhere and serves no purpose other than to tell the audience that Archer is the most important human ever, tons of contradictions to established lore, and the occasional contrived excuse to have TNG era elements (holodeck, Borg, Ferengi, etc.).Season 3 adds Manny Coto to the writing staff and has a clearer vision of what it wants to be. If you liked the Dominion War or are among those who feel Voyager wasted its premise, I think you'd enjoy S3.S4 has the creators reduced to figureheads and the actual showrunners are genuine Star Trek fans course correcting the show into being about the founding of the Federation. It never really gets particularly great, but it shows promise. Maybe that's actually a reason not to watch it if you don't want to be bummed out about what could have been. The finale is easily the worst thing with the "Star Trek" name on it (at least pre-Kurtzman) and retroactively sours Enterprise as well as a classic TNG episode.

>>220416423These sensors are designed to target starships at relativistic speeds and they're having trouble shooting down slow ass airplanes?

>>220416102Enterprise is pretty good. Just finished it today and am happy I did. Not the best of the trutrek shows but worth a watch.
>>220416555Loved S3. Was watching maybe an episode a night until S2 finale then started binging.
should I do it
Guys I just finished Enterprise, the last of the trutrek shows. Been a journey and I'm glad I did it. What do I do now. Nutrek doesn't interest me. Are there good shows to jump to now?
>>220423085S3 of Picard is goodbut it's worth watching the dogshit S1 and S2 to appreciate it S2 is so bad it makes S1 look like high art, and S1 is horrible in itself lmao
>>220422806Sloppy bait
>>220423189Nice projection
>>220423158Couldn't make it through S1. Could I just find a recap online and skip to S3?
>>220423085Now it's time for B5.
Picard was wrongcrystala vista
>>220423239Season 1: The RemembranceRetired and disillusioned, Admiral Picard is pulled back into action when Dahj, a young woman who is actually an advanced organic android (and Data’s "daughter"), seeks his help. After she is assassinated by a Romulan hit squad, Picard recruits a ragtag crew—including pilot Rios, researcher Jurati, and estranged friend Raffi—on the ship La Sirena. The Mission: Find Dahj's twin sister, Soji, who is working on a massive Borg Cube (The Artifact) reclaimed by Romulans. The Threat: The Zhat Vash, an ancient Romulan cabal, hates all synthetic life due to a prophecy of a "Destroyer."The End: Picard saves a colony of synths but dies from a terminal brain condition. His consciousness is transferred into a "golem" (an identical synthetic body), allowing him to live on.Season 2: The PenancePicard and crew are suddenly thrust into an alternate, totalitarian timeline (The Confederation) by his old cosmic frenemy, Q. To fix the timeline, they must "slingshot" back to 2024 Los Angeles. The Mission: Prevent a point of divergence involving Picard’s ancestor, Renée Picard, and a failed NASA mission. The Subplots:The Borg Queen: Captured from the alternate timeline, she slowly manipulates/merges with Dr. Jurati, creating a new, more "humanitarian" Borg collective.Q's Secret: Q is dying and orchestrated this trial to help Picard confront childhood trauma regarding his mother’s death. The End: Picard "levels up" emotionally, the timeline is restored, and a new Borg faction led by Jurati emerges to help save the galaxy from a spatial anomaly.Status going into Season 3: Picard is at peace with his past, the synth ban is lifted, and the crew has largely gone their separate ways... until a distress call from Beverly Crusher changes everything.
I hope Alex kurtzmen kill himself and make the world a better place!
>>220422903Only if you plan to wear it while playing the SNES game and pretending you're a captain.
>>220418511> Spiner, Frakes and Stewart won't sign away the right to do that out of cautionThat’s pretty smart. I bet their hearts broke when they saw Darth Vader talking about Skibidi Rizz in Fortnite.
>>220422624apparently plan A was to have Kira hook up with Dukat until Nana Visitor literally begged them not to do itthe fuck were the writers smoking lmao
The Ferengi must think Bajorans are a race of pedophiles
>>220424054Pretty large age gap
>>220424098how do you know?it always triggers me when our boys come across an alien and say some shit like "he looks about 25"1. You don't know how these aliens age - there's a Voyager episode called "Innoncence" that comes across a species that literally ages in reverse.2. You don't know what a year is to this species, why presume everything is about 365 days old?3. As "Sanctuary" in DS9 showed, some aliens look crusty and ugly as fuck by nature. They could be 10 years old and already look like a raisin.4. T'Pol is literally 66 and she looks like a human in her 20s. You don't know how Bajorans and Cardassians age. We know Kira's age but not Dukat's. They could be the same age for all we know.
>>220424143He was the station manager fucking her mom when she was 3 years old anon.
>>220424164perhaps cardassians look like adults when they're a week old like the jem'hadar
>>220424143Cardassian aging is a whole can of worms. They seem to age similar to other humanoids. That old man lawyer in Tribunal for example. Garak said that Cardassians hold their elderly in high esteem. So they appear to honor the wise old man trope.
>>220423816i don't even like star wars and that still hurt me. James Earl Jones deserves better, what a rotten way to treat a legend. clown world has no respect for anything and that hack lucas is its messiah.
Gul Dukat did nothing wrong.
MAJOR SHUT THAT THING OFF!!COMMANDA QWORF PREPARE TO LAUNCH TORPEGOS!
>>220424573Didn’t he?
in the utilitarian sense killing all the Bajorans would have prevented the Dominion War from happening, resulting in a net positive casualty outcome
>>220424607The Cardassian empire spread a superior culture across the Alpha quadrant, killing the Bajorans would have been a simple solution but instead they chose to uplift the Bajorans with Cardassian values because it was a challenge that a great people deemed a worthy cause. And leading that valiant effort was a Cardassian named Gul Dukat, perhaps the most important and consequential Cardassian of the 24th century.
>>220424626Should've cracked the planet apart and dumped it through the wormhole
>>220416102I mean I love Voyager, but it is such a wasted premise that had so much fucking potential, even the characters had a lot of dimensions to them that could have been handled so much better.I liked Babylon 5 back in its original run, not sure how it holds up but is worth a look. Star Wars honestly I never cared for much beyond the original trilogy. There's always Dune if you're so inclined, I'd recommend the SciFi channel miniseries, it's not without it's problems, but it's decent enough. I also really liked Farscape though another one I haven't watched since it originally aired.
Odo VoiceQuuuuuarrrrrkk , hand over the Jebrellian Flame Beetle.... uh uh uh .. AND.... the Frigian Cave Torg...
Why are bajorans so fucking ungrateful for everything Cardassia did for them?
>>220416362No, it's shitty writing, shitty characters, God awful worldbuilding, it's abysmal.

>>220416426I just hope one day AI video creation gets to the point I can just make my own episodes of whatever and watch that. I mean I'm already doing that in text form, my Deep Space Nine but Londo Mallari shows up has been fairly amusing, Claude does a pretty good Quark.
>watch some ds9 s1>kira says "what the hell" once>says it again two episodes later>remember star treks stance on adlib>check scripts>it's fixed dialoguehuh. haven't watched ds9 in a decade, do the bajorans even have a concept of hell? why does the universal translator translate it when it doesn't for Klingon Gre'thor?

the woman in that Irish TNG episode looked way too docile and like Vorenus's wife.A Celtic Fairy Woman has more of a wild toothy look.
>>220425169and btw the wild toothy look is the hottest look. Nothing else compares. Wild chaotic red hair , front teeth showing a bit. Pure Beauty.
Mirror universe Kira did not need to be so sexy. God damn
>>220425136Actually the pah wraiths are the true gods of Bajor
>>220425157quite an oversight considering the series main plot is all about their faith>>220425184wrong. this was necessary to the highest order.
>>220425059I think it's like Han Solo saying "I'll see you in Hell!" where they really didn't think through the lore implications.
>>220424098>age gap
>>220425184>did not need to be so sexyyer quite retarded, aren't ya?
>>220416477I have never seen Prodigy, but I hate it because of shit I've seen in Memory Alpha articles that just piss me off. No, just fucking no, Medusans are fucking noncorporeal energy beings, they cannot be fucking assimilated by the Borg, that's just stupid and like philosophically incoherent, magical energy being ascension path beats technological hyper-materialism just as assuredly as paper covers rock. What next, Organians and Q assimilated by the Borg? Just fucking preposterous, terrible worldbuilding, I hate it, I can do better in my sleep.
>>220425344a single line of questionable lore provokes this type of reaction in you? how the fuck did you get through any trek at all with that mindset?
>>220425344Can the Borg do some telepathic shit? Seems reasonable enough, they've assimilated telepath species before.

>>220416929It was on the frontier, it was basically a Little House on the Prairie one room schoolhouse kinda deal, look we have to uplift these Bajoran savages with our enlightened ways, it's the Federation man's burden and we will be resented for it.
