there is no website I despise more than letterboxd
it's actively ruining cinema
nothing but oversocialized narcissistic feminine npc pseuds devoid of any insight and humor trying to appear witty and regurgitating each others garbage
and now distributors and marketers cater to them and the next generation of writers and filmmakers will emerge from there
dumb and terrifying
>>
>>220415463
I use it for the well-organized lists and the official accounts. I don't look at the retarded reviews.

>look up literally any movie
>first dozen reviews are about how "gay" the movie is or the problematic private life of the lead actors all written like a zany tweet in lowercase
Future mass grave occupant website.

The gamification aspect of it is highly cancerous. It also has an inconsistent, shit media data bank. Lists are a plus, though, and the "CREW" tab is very useful.
>>
>>220415538
why are they like this
>>
>>220415618
Fantasizing about mass graves as if they themselves wouldn't end up there?
>>
>>220415463
You are not obliged to look at the gaping asshole section.

With that said, is there another alternative?
Also looking for a site that indexes television shows. That equivalent.
>>
>>220415538
Last year, I started mass blocking popular accounts, celebrity/youtuber accounts, and any account that posted unfunny joke reviews and/or virtue signaling trash that put ideology over actual critical merit of the film they were reviewing.

My feed is now a lot more calm now.

Leave my beloved lesbians (fake btw) alone!

It's the same with every social site that is about reviews. Just look at GoodReads or RateYourMusic. Women and gays eventually take over it and start wedding out those who don't agree with their views. And that means praising the bottom of the barrel corporate crap while dismissing classics or more complex works because those are intimidating, too hard for them or "outdated".

>Women and gays eventually take over it and start wedding out those who don't agree with their views
Like chuds try in this place.
>>
>>220416052

Sorry, I meant pajeets and jews.
>>

I know for a fact there are some Jews and Indians here, but the board killer right now are blackpilled chuds that don't even care about the medium.

This post is an impressively avant garde strawman. The people jumping around in your head must be interesting to argue with.

You are part of the problem.

One of my favorite websites.

>Go to Letterboxd.com
>Log the movie I just watched
>See what my friends have watched
>Read their reviews if any
>Put movies on watchlist if anything looks promising

Been doing this for 12 years now. Not sure what the problem is supposed to be.
>>
I don't read letterboxd reviews and thus they don't affect my consumption. You should do the same.
>>
>>220415463
just dont look at the public reviews and only the ones from your friends (if you have any), its really that simple to make the site good
>>

Willingly spending any amount of time on a review site is deranged behavior
>>
>>220415463
>uses a website
>uses it like social media
>is surprised when it's shit
It has other uses beyond following other retarded mongs you know.
>>
>>220416821
This, if you read any of the reviews and get upset, that's entirely on you.
>>
>>220415463
It's disappointing how 99.9% of the reviews is horrible tryhard Twitter one-liners, but the interface itself is very good. If they add TV functionality, this will have been the greatest cataloguing website.
>>
>>220415463
Letterboxd is a website for women
>>
>>220417193
Good thing I am a woman then. Born male, though.
>>
imdb is much better than letterboxd and its not even close. the only thing letterboxd does better is the interface which is subjective. i can see why its regarded as well made but i am not a big fan of it.
>>
>>220417909
Better in what regard? The users? Only absolute dipshits care about that.
>>
I just use it for logging and the watchlist.

I tried doing ratings but I got way too autistic about the numbers and it was taking away my enjoyment of watching movies.
>>
Honestly even well written reviews are useless. I've been baited by a well written review into watching what turned out to be made for tv level slop.
>>
>>220415463
why don't you block all of those poison and why don't you focus on actual and insightful critics/reviews? i am using that website only to mark and to rate films i have been watching, also i am following less then 20 users and all of them are giving me excellent recommendations and all of those users are into movies that are rated with less then 1000 votes on IMDb.
>>
>>220415463
All true.
>>
>>220415538
>tweet in lowercase
"People" who do this deserve to have their skull caved in
>>
>>220415463
It uses less bandwidth than IMDB. It's like grabbing sth from them if other stores don't have it kinda deal. Be a smart shopper. That said, they include very obscure titles (by poster image) you wouldn't know without going to a foreign language database, even if there's no way of ever finding the title.
>>
>ITT: contrarians incels trashing a good thing
>>
I mean a lot of these complaints are pretty embellished. Letterboxed is mostly fine and a better source of movie reviews than absolute dogshit like Rotten Tomatoes
>>
Why don't we make our own review website?
>>
The way it displays the movies you log satisfies my autism. The way it displays all the posters makes you feel like you're collecting Pokemon cards or something.
>>
It's actually a great site. The problem is that most of you have complete dogshit pleb taste so you're only going to see people as low IQ and tasteless reviewing the same low IQ trash.
>>
I didn't realize I need to log my movies and just gave them a rating instead. Is my account fucked?
>>
>>220420640
lil bro thinks stuff with low watched = good taste

the best directors favorite movies lists are full with what you would call "entry level". you can stop pretending that a 4 hour movie of paint drying is your favorite
>>
literal NPCattle ITT caring about muh reviews, comments, ratings, logging, diary entry and all that midwit stuff. just click the watched button and move ahead.
>>
>>220415463
None of this is an issue if you just follow your friends or people who have a genuine interest in film.
>>
>>220415591
>and the "CREW" tab is very useful
IMDb has all that info in much greater detail
>>
>>220418590
>teehee only dipshits care about the users on a social media platform
Fumbling retard
>>
>>220419465
>why don't you block all of those poison
It's literally endless.
>>
>>220417909
IMDB top 250 is way worse than Letterboxd's. Even if Letterboxd does tend to overrate world cinema and queer movies.
>>
just don't read the reviews if it's a popular film, films that aren't mainstream usually have decent ones
>>
>>220420641
if you care about the dairy function, yes. good thing you can just post log all of them
>>
>>220421047
>just click the watched button and move ahead.
Nigga using an elaborate social media website as a diary and calling others midwits

>using an elaborate social media website as a diary and calling others midwits
what part of my post led you to that conclusion dimwit ?? i dont have any accounts on lboxd or imdb. i have my own place to note my stuff. it was just an advice as to what i feel is the better way than sperging out. feel free to use them as you like
>Nigga
NIGGER is the word
>>
>>220421409
Nigga why are you defending it if you don't even use it you retard NIGGER
>>
>>220421409
The top 250 is a reflection of the community, and the IMDB community has terrible boomercattle taste.
>>
>>220421459
>defending
>nooo dont have an opinion if you dont use it
grim state of affairs. i am not defending lboxd. i am also saying imdb is better than lboxd. especially the crew feature is much better on imdb than lboxd.

>>220421468
>zoomercattle is better than boomercattle
both are equally bad and you need to realize it soon. why do you get you films curated by "top, 250" lists is beyong my comprehension. there are far better lists you could use. hell, there are podcasts with much better lists and discourses.
>>
>>220421047
Why not just use a spreadsheet at that point?
>>
>>220421468
IMDB top 250 is not that bad besides the capeshit
>>
>>220421544
i dont see an issue with it, do you ?? a simple txt file is enough if you ask me. you dont need more. the need to have such sites is manufactured if you think hard enough. hope i am making sense.

I challenge you to find a more deranged review
>>
you can't be "regurgitating" 'oversocialized' if this is the kind of stuff you bitch about
there's always been loud annoying people and markets have always exploited trends but lbx on the whole has greatly improved the next generation's cultural awareness and appreciation for cinema, it will be a net positive.
