i mean it's an okay old flick but rating it over a 7 is fucking insane. the very plot of the movie is kinda stupid
>>
Think about who that stupidity appeals to and why they find it oh so rewarding.

old farts not realizing that everything seemed cool and novel when they were young retards

kid was obviously guilty so i always sort of hated the movie
>>
>decent acting
>highly acclaimed actor (Henry Fonda)
>Easy to follow plot which on the surface appears to have depth and challenges audiences to look at their preconceived notions the same way the jury does (this is only facile though and we all know the plot is dumb)
>Novel, single location, movie filmed in mostly real time
>The movie appeals to people who enjoy plays

There are some legitimate reasons it's highly rated. I think the movie is pretty dumb myself. You have to factor in the idea that at this point it's highly rated with newer audiences because it was already highly rated. I notice millennials praise classics like this one, under the impression it's high brow art because there aren't any explosions. Zoomers tend to challenge the status quo more.

Juror 8 never argued his innocence but so much as he hated that everyone else didn't give a fuck about their moral responsibility of being on a jury and holding someone's life in their hands.

It turned out that the people most set on his guilt didn't necesarily care about the case as much as they hated the kid for what he represented.

The core message was that if you're really going to be on a jury you should at least do the bare minimum of paying attention and taking it seriously

I see it more like everyone realizing Fonda is gonna keep going at it and chose to die on that hill so it's either agree with him or stay there forever and they just wanna go home so they agreed with him just so they don't have to deal with him anymore.

Seriously this. The right thing to do is vote not guilty, slash Fonda's tires on the way out then, serve justice yourself and try to find the first brown criminal that looked like the defendent and curb stomp him. Even if you picked the wrong one you're probably doing society a favor.

I really value your critique of cinema when you insert revenge fantasies into fiction.

I have something to recommend you, it's called rising of a shield hero. I'm sure you'll like it more than any movie you've ever seen.
