Remember how bad the Mexico piss filter was in Breaking Bad?
It's actually way worse than you remember. Seriously what the fuck were they thinking

This is the most extreme film is this regard. U.S. scenes have an extreme blue tint, Mexico scenes have an extreme yellow tint.
>>
>>220421771
that's on purpose and not some gimmick like we see later
>>

Yellow filter on scenes that place in the desert is a midwit IQ filter.

Low IQ
>it makes it look hot
Midwit
>wow this is so unrealistic Mexico isnt yellow
High IQ
>color filters are a way for visual medium like film to convey things such as temperature of the environment without having to resort to panning to a thermometer or forcing a character to unnaturally narrate the information to the viewer.
>>
mexico is piss
>>
>>220421175
piss filter is better than teal and orange
>>
>>220421175
Mexican piss filter is kino. Far north blue filter is kino. Cry about it, you faggots.

Explain, in your own words, how the piss filter is bad.
>>
>>220421853
I don't understand two things, maybe you can shed some light on it:
1. How a gimmick could not possibly be on purpose
2. How the tinting of Traffic is anything but a gimmick
>>
>>220421938
It's the same climate.
>>
>>220421975
Eega boppal neerfda.
>>

Why is the high IQ also a midwit here?

it autistic to want things to be matter of fact in a visual story telling medium. Why give characters name? Just call them Character1 and Character2?
>>
I can confirm I absolutely remember how yellow it was because it was the most yellow mexico ever looked

>>220422028
because the post was made by a midwit

Vince's Mexican piss filter started in The X-Files and it grew from there.
>>
>>220421175
it's both Mexico AND flashback. ofc they have filter the shit out if it
>>
Whats wrong with the Mexico filter? It communicates to the audience immediately that a scene is taking place in Mexico, its good visual storystelling
>>
>>220423732
Why yellow though?
>>
>>220423819
just feels right
>>

132IQ: orange Mexico funny.

>>color filters are a way for visual medium like film to convey things such as temperature of the environment
Albequerque is as hot as across the border in Mexico, yet had no colour filter
>>
>>220421938
actually color filters are commonly used to move the viewer to an entirely new context, a lot of the time one outside the audiences familiarity or comfort zone
you see this all the time with things like dream sequences or flashbacks
>>
only mexicans care about this
>>
>>220422710
Which episode is this? I didn't get far in season 9, so it's possible I just never saw it (instead of forgetting)
Also, I think dogget was a pretty good addition but I Reyes just seems like a drag
>>220423819
They should either do more of an orangish tint or those mirage heat lines instead
>>
Have any anons here ever been to Mexico? How yellow is it IRL?
>>
>>220424168
I went a long time ago when it was still in black and white.

Mexico does have a yellow tint due to the pollution, stop complaining
>>
>>220421175
No… but I do remember how kinographic it was.
>>
>>220421175
part of the reason they went so hard with it was an attempt to hide actors' real age in flashbacks

>>220424254
yes, and the actual reason to do it there was that each of the locations is equally as stylized as mexico (ohio is blue, southern california is diffused and glossy) because the storylines intercut so rapidly and it let you instantly know where you were. everything that's ripped it off since then usually just does it because they thought the aesthetic looked cool
>>
>>220423947
I don't give a single shit about this and I don't know anyone who cares either.
t. Mexican
>>
>>220421175
It's to mark the period.
>>
>>220424044
I believe it's in the first half of season 9, episode name is John Doe. Nothing particularly good story-wise but Robert Patrick acted the shit out of that episode.
>>
>>220421175
hawaiian pizza but with color grading
better call saul has a ton of blue filters and black and white filters and you don't see anyone complaining
>>
>>220425829
Huh, guess I might have to check it out
>>
>>220421175
>>220421771
This is to remind the audience that Mexico is evil, evil people live in Mexico and even the air you breathe down there will turn you evil if you visit. Or at least the filmmakers imply it.
>>
>>220421175
>Mexico piss filter
It's true though

It's true
That's how it looks

This reminds me of Mayor of Kingstown, Not only does the show have a thick blue filter, but 90% of the cast wears some shade of blue. kek
