King of the Hill, Mad About You, Home Improvement, and Spin City, to be completely honest. I saw a lot of sitcoms as a kid. I'll throw in Caroline and the City too since I just remembered it yesterday, for some reason.
Mostly, I was a cartoon and Comedy Central kid, though. Cartoon Network, specifically, with some Nicktoons like Rocko, Ren & Stimpy, early Hey Arnold!, and of course Spongebob. When Adult Swim came along, it was kind of a perfect melding of the two channels' spirits for me; but that's after the year you asked about.

VHS recordings my mom made over the years because we didn't have cable and my country only had 3 tv channels.
>>
I had 2 channels so I watched whatever shows played on them which were
>King of the Hill
>The Simpsons
>Becker
>Cheers
>Just Shoot Me
I watched them all but didn't really care for the Ted Danson offerings

mad about you is actually mega comfy, probably the best 90s sitcom after seinfeld and frasier and maybe friends
>>
>>220423263
Even as kid it struck me as ridiculous that Helen Hunt would settle for a little jew goblin like Paul Reiser

Why can't we go back to simpler better times? Like we have sites that stream "live" TV but they're more like playlists of the same TV show for an entire channel. If they actually had a variety of programming per "channel" maybe more people would watch it. There was something nice about just letting the curator set the programming for the day and just being able change channels if you didn't like what you saw.

Comfy.

I have 2 channels set up on my plex server that just rotate different kinds of content. If I'm not feeling what is showing on one channel I just look at the other, and this is the most enjoyment I've had watching tv/movies in a long time. Sometimes less choice is better. That movie or tv show that you would never watch while scrolling through your content takes on a bit of a different meaning when it just comes on your tv.

the simpsons on syndication

>Why can't we go back to simpler better times?
because the tech industry has ruined the entire world
>>
>>220423560
No this is better with the exception of channel surfiing.
>nothing is on
Used to be quite literal when you run out of channels
>>
>>220421543
Probably Blue's Clues or the Teletubbies or something.
>>
I didn't have much time for TV in 1999. I'd catch an episode of the Simpsons or a Bond movie on TBS.

>didn't really care for the Ted Danson offerings

based and correct. kid-me thought becker was just “old man yells in waiting room” and cheers was something my dad laughed at while I waited for the simpsons to start.

king of the hill into the simpsons on a shitty local affiliate was basically a cultural education though. half my sense of humor is just hank hill reacting disapprovingly to something.

Any of you guys remember the City Guys theme song?

classic simpsons 6-7pm
