ITT: horrifically bad adaptations of books
i just had a good dinner. and i had a good poop. i'm content and comfy rn.
>she tripped and fell on a stone. but i had THOUGHT ABOUT murdering her!bravo Hitchcock.
>>220426989The True Meaning of Smekday is too long and convoluted of a story to be properly adapted to film. By convoluted I mean it's part narrative, part written essay by Tip herself and part scrap book.
the mind rape ahegao scene gave me one of the biggest boners in my life
>>220427069Yeah this was Hitchcocks first American movie and I was pretty disappointed.
>>220427123fair enough but to essentially throw away any nuance the book had into some retarded marketable comedy with nothing to say is a disservice to the book in my opinion.you could expunge the really wordy or unnecessary bits for the sake of a film im sure
[The Author] has become a monster, devoured by his own popularity and absorbed by the absurdity of our time. The chasm between the beauty and seriousness of the work, and what it has become, has gone too far for me. Such commercialization has reduced the esthetic and philosophical impact of this creation to nothing. There is only one solution for me: turning my head away.
>>220426989>>220427123Is this a good book? Should I read it?
>>220427544its way more intriguing and well written than a childrens book probably has any right to be but it requires a lot of patience
>>220426989But, did the book have Rihanna?
>>220427429>artemis loves fun and loves to surf>the butler family whose entire lineage is devoted to serving the Fowls is black>the only thing they didn't change is the detailed disturbing dwarf shitting methods
I read this book before the movie ever came out, so when they announced it I knew it would be bad. A significant amount of the plot revolves around a character having a telepathic conversation with an alien being that has hijacked his body and taken control over it. He can still see and feel everything, but his agency is limited to having a long ongoing dialogue with the alien that only he and the alien can ever telepathically hear. It’s also one of his weaker books, and he’s a hack. It really never should have been considered for a movie.
