>>
>>220431684
Also Scott
>>
>>220431632
Reminder that this happened in western countries like America. Japan don't have this problem.
>>
>>220431181
I love this movie so goddamn fucking much
>>
>>220431181
Back then they made movies.

Now they make live-action anime A.K.A. actual bottom of the barrel trash made for people who don't leave their rooms.
>>
>>220431695
Japan didn't have an anime problem? Everyone else did? It was everyone else other than Japan that had a problem with Japanese animation?
>>
>>220431695
Anon....I....
>>
>>220431181

By the thumbnail I thougt it was that troon named Jazz or something like that
>>
I think Japan is doing fine if I'm being honest
But Filmmakers like Seijun Suzuki were able to keep making movies because several major film studios monopolized the Japanese film industry and had ample funding back then
Since he had an exclusive contract with Nikkatsu, he was able to make dozens of B-movies without worrying about box office revenues.
>>
>>220432716
You don't know what you're talking about. Suzuki pumped out B-movie slop for Nikkatsu that was super cheap but ALWAYS made profit because those B-movies were of popular genres and were cheap (like horrorslop now). He didn't have to worry about profit in a sense that for a while he only made movies that were guaranteed to be profitable. But then he got uppity and started doing arty shit that flopped and Nikkatsu basically told Suzuki that he is an enemy of [money making] cinema and should fucking die and got him blacklisted for a decade. When he returned to filmmaking in the 70s he wasn't working with Nikkatsu but basically with whoever gave him money, constantly switching production companies.
>>
>>220432800
I know he got blacklisted for making the boss of Nikkatsu angry but in fact he could make so many movies until that incident
Everything was more laid-back, childish, and simple back then

Bollywood-tier
>>
>>220431198
this is so fucking bad, asians should stop acting
>>
You need to understand almost nobody in the west gave a fuck about Seijun in the 60s/70s
He was ''discovered'' decades later so the narrative about him, him vs the sudio, etc. tends to be romanticized in the west.

Similar things will probably happen in the near future too. It’s easy to say that some things from Japan 30 years ago were actually somewhat cool.
>>
>>220432927
Have a good trip anon (゚∀゚)
>>
>>220432927
Pro tip: Don't try speaking Japanese with Japanese people (other than "[thing you want to order] kudasai")
>>
>>220433014
>>220433080
You got baited. You get angry and you would shit on Japan as much as possible because Japan is different and keeps making its own things, which makes you uncomfortable. And that's exactly why it's cool.

The soviet union fell so America had no need to keep pumping money into japan so in the 90s they started deteriorating and never stopped
>>
>>220433243

He means the trannies. America is tranny heaven but they still want to pretend they're a bigger problem in other countries when it's not even close.
>>
>>220433256
No, Japanese electronics were becoming too concurrential to american electronics so they fucked with them.
>>
>>220432927
kino photographer, have a good trip. Japan legitimately altered my perspective on life and now I feel dead inside. I would've geared my whole life towards living in Japan, but instead I'm a wagie back home in the U.S. and there's legitimately nothing here.

60s - maybe, but 70s no
>>
>>220431181
>60s/70s
They grew too big in the 80s and tried to overthrow their masters buying up American skyscrapers and auto factories. This enraged Washington and Hollywood started making films about the evil Japanese (and in ironic hindsight, whitewashing the Chinese). Finally in the 90s, western bankers convinced the Bank of Japan they found the infinite money glith in the carry trade, basically borrowing low interest Japanese Yen to buy high interest US securities. Unfortunately this popped the bubble on the Japanese economy and Japan entered a now 30 year period of stagflation. An entire generation of humiliation drove salarymen insane, youths to withdraw into games and anime, and employees to outright start exploiting workers. In turn, Japanese arts also stopped exploring, they stopped being innovative in desperation to stay afloat.
