He practices a lot in the books. It's one of the few things school-related that he actually likes.
>>
>>220431404
The other players were older than him
He wasn't even supposed to play in his first year but Dumbledore practices favoritism.
Despite that, he befriends the twins, Ron eventually joins, Ginny becomes his girlfriend and eventual wife, Angelina becomes his sister in law. And he does manage to interact with Katie Bell outside of the matches. I don't remember if he talks to Alicia any.

Untrue in the books. Maybe they can fix it in the TV series

Fan headcanon is that McGonagall and Dumbledore felt guilty about completely abandoning Harry to the Dursleys and allowing him to be abused and never been taught about the wizarding world or his parent's death. So they broke the rules for him to help build up is confidence.

I can buy it for the top tier broom perhaps, but not for the opportunity to play. It seemed pretty clear to me in the books that if anyone had flown like Harry did his first time on a broom, they would have been given the opportunity to join the team despite being a year too young.

A seeker is not a proper Quidich team member. The seeker is completely independent of the rest of the team, they are not involved in the actually game they are just a glory hound that runs around the pitch getting in everyone's way chasing the snitch. When they catch it the score and the totality of everyone else's efforts doesn't matter. Catch the snitch and your team wins. The whole game was basically a tiebreaker for if no seeker catches the snich.

A game people payed a lot of money to watch at the quiddich world cup could be over in less than a minute.

Its fucking bullshit. Snitches and seekers break the entire game and should be abolished.

Its not really something you can train for either, you just have to be good on a broom, so much else is pure chance. Potter even caught the snich by swallowing it one time. Its often pure fluke.

Not only is it not /tv/ related it still manages to be one of the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

Since Hermione is Rowling's self insert, my headcanon has always been that Ron is a self insert of Rowling's ex-husband (sloppy, vulgar, insults everything Hermione cares about, but is "fun") and that's why she had them get together.

Harry getting together with Ginny felt forced and retarded as fuck because he couldn't give two shits about her until the 6th book when he had a "monster in his chest".

It was like she realized "oh shit these books are ending soon, I need to set up pairings now.

He should've ended up with Hermione (his best friend who never abandoned him) or just some random person we never even saw, which is how it would work IRL.

People say this but they have exactly zero romantic chemistry in the books. None at all. Harry and Hermione barley talk to each other when Ron is absent. The famous invisible man story was written by HG Wells, famous for The Time Machine.

The invisible man book in that chart is a book about a black man university employee dealing with race and he never turns invisible. He only feels invisible.
I dropped the book at almost exactly the halfway point. He's in a paint factory. Idk if the paint factory is supposed to make him white or invisible but you have the wrong book in your chart.

Yes.

but seriously, if you're seriously about getting upset about something like quidditch you should actually research how Harry Potter is largely just a giant parody of various aspects of british society. Hogwarts for example is just a boarding school. Snooty elitists like Malfoy are just aristocrats. The weird coinage is directly based on how the British currency used to work. Nothing about the setting is made to be taken completely seriously and the primary audience was always British children, many of whom would have the story read out loud to them by their parents in bed.

books 1-3:
>none of the characters had any romantic chemistry
book 4
>harry wanted to date cho, but got cucked by cedric and then fumbled parvati
>hermione dated krum (reminder: krum was 19, hermione was 14)
>ron was jealous of hermione (but was also jealous of harry)
book 5
>harry tried dating cho but kept bringing up her murdered boyfriend
>hermione was friends with krum and didn't have chemistry with anybody else
>ron was still jealous
book 6
>suddenly harry was obsessed with ginny (he barely talked to her for the previous 6 years)
>also hermione was obsessed with ron (including cheating to get him a spot on the quidditch team)
book 7
>more harry/ginny but he doesn't bring her on the horcrux quest
>ron abandons harry and hermione (again, just like in book 4)
I dunno it just seems more realistic that Harry and Hermione would have gotten together. Or even with some random people they didn't go to school with, like how it works for most people.

Hermione/Ron seems like a match made in Hell and the relationships in books 6/7 (Tonks/Lupin was even worse) felt forced as hell

They simply don't have the numbers not only it's too big a chunk of the total population playing games for a living but it also would mean most of the players wouldn't even good enough to play for their house at hogwarts
People rightfully complain about seekers being the only relevant players but this always annoyed me more even as a kid
Obviously if you think about almost anything in harry potter world building for 30 seconds it falls a part much the same it's a silly series for kids, but for some reason this particular thing has been triggering me for more than 2 decades

Society is a cult. Secular humanism is a cult. Religion, atheism, communism, capitalism, republicanism, monarchism, meritocracy, cults cults and more cults.
The Roman Empire was a cult, the Mongol Horde was a cult, the British imperialists were a cult. Everything is a cult.
Every society since the dawn of time has been institutionally oriented to largely induce conformity for the purpose of social cohesion. What, do you think a society should rear its children towards the purpose of social disintegration? Do you think those societies would be successful in the long term?
Your country's education system is a cult, shocking! Now let's stop pretending like your value-laden judgements actually mean anything.

“You're eleven years old, Mr. Potter!" she said in a harsh whisper.

"And therefore subhuman. Sorry... for a moment there, I forgot.”

-

“You see, Miss Granger, people do not grow up because of time, people grow up when they are placed in grownup situations.”

I'd cuff the little shit around the ears for that.

Was it grooming?

HOW MANY TIMES ARE WE GOING TO GO THROUGH THIS
HIS PERFECT MATCH WAS ALWAYS FUCKING LUNA
>Broken family with a spot for more family
>Fully magical
>Lives one hill away from his best friend
>Luna actually understand his loss (like no other fucking character ever did, ever)
>Ride or die in whatever shit Harry wanted to do
>Actually stood by him at every single point of his fame ups and downs
>Actually, she doesn't even fucking care about his fame aspect, at all
It just couldn't be because of course Rowling is a hack and she had to make Harry see her as "weird" (the exact same way normal people see Harry all his life but it didn't occured to the cunt that Harry could be introspective about it)
HOW MANY FUCKING TIMES

Pansy was right all along.
>>
>>220457033
You only say all this because evanna lynch gave a good performance and had good chemistry with Daniel.
In the books she was weird and probably smelled like shit.

Her jewish opinion gets thrown into the bin when you know she does cameos as "that professor from Harry Potter".

Don't try and argue with people who are willing to contort the meaning of anything just to make their point. They're just retards who want to say dumb things while feeling smart about it.

if she gave a good performance
wouldn't that mean she did credit to the book version

Not necessarily. It just means she acted more ditzy and appealed to guys who liked quirky women, rather than the weirdo like how she was in the books.
>>
>>220458594
So a bad performance then, moron

Let me dumb it down so even your tiny peanut brain can get it. She acted well based on the script she was given. Her performance had no connection to the actual characteristics of luna from the books.

>never befriends any of the other players
I mean, he was the youngest player by a lot when he joined the team, first years weren't even supposed to be eligible to join. He might be a super famous 11 year old but he's still an 11 year old, you expect a bunch of 14+ year olds to hang out with him? They have their own social circles that they'd built up over years at school.

You don't really see a lot of friendship between students in different years, at least not close friendships. Even Fred and George Weasley, who were a couple years older than Harry, didn't hang around him all the time despite knowing very well as a friend of the family.

No, what I said is factually correct according to book information, has nothing to do with the actress.
In fact, I can pinpoint the exact moment when Harry should have noticed her, and it's when everyone hated Harry at some point and Luna says "We support you, me and my dad", and then HERMIONE has the idea for her to give Harry's interview to Luna's dad.
That could have been the seed of Harry noticing Luna is a ride or die (that she is)
>>
>>220459471
Men's social circles has nothing to do with age brackets, are you a women by any chance?
You seem like one, that's a women's kind of understanding of how men work
>>
>>220459486
wonder why rowling just ignored her as a possible
>>
>>220435949
All that's required to be really good at quiddich is hand-eye coordination and flying on a broom. Being big and strong isn't required for a lot of the players. Harry's role in particular, benefits from being small and quick.
>>
>>220459509
lol I can tell you had no friends in school because you think a freshman can just walk up to a junior or senior and start chatting and won't be told to get lost
>>
>>220436511
it's called negging. didn't you ever read Mystery Method?
>>
Ron-Hermione and Harry-Ginny make the most sense from a meta prospective because you have the entire main trio become part of the weasley family so you know their will stay close forever
>>
>>220459540
That's literally how I got my friends, I was drawing some shit on recess, they came in to me and say "That's cool" and that's it
I don't think you should be on the Internet women, go wash the dishes or something please, your men will see you and smack you up
