>>220441287>Evil is everywhereWhat did George mean by this?
>>220441287Anakin thought he was the hero of the story
>>220441287>The republic is crumblingWhat did George mean by this?
>>220441287Nazis can have heroes too.
>>220441287He made a Clone Wars episode about it.https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1707610/He was referring to the idealistic Separatist parliament and nobility.
>>220441442Fake news, it wasn't a war it was just a special military operation.
both sides are the baddies
>>220441287both sides see the other as evil, that's why evil is everywhere and both have heroes fighting against it, otherwise there wouldn't be two sides, just one globohomo entity with just one ideology.
>>220441287>Yo the Federation isn't completely evil>They have well meaning people fighting for them>Flagship was literally called the Malevolence
>>220441287Lucas seperates the soldiers who fight wars morally from the politicians who start them. This is rooted in his understanding of the Vietnam War. The US as a government was involved in Vietnam over French colonial interests at the expense of the Vietnamese independence movement, who the US had supported against the Japanese in WWII before later supporting a puppet government put in place to maximize Western economic exploitation. But at the same time the thousands of American GIs fighting in Vietnam were fighting for reasons they believed were moral and ethical: either because they were doing their duty as citizens of the republic, or because they believed that communism in southeast Asia represented an existential threat. By the same token the Viet Cong and NVA certainly viewed themselves as freedom fighters repelling foreign invaders just as they had the Japanese occupation. In the OT the Imperials are the US, but are shown just going about the business of professional soldiering. They only become evil at the flag officer level where they are essentially politicians. All those Stormtrooper and TIE pilots are just regular dudes either doing their civic duty or believe that the rebellion is an existential threat. In the PT the Republic is in the strange position of claiming the moral high ground while denying the right of self determination of the Seperatists and using what is essentially a slave army, all while telling themselves they love democracy. The Seperatists grievances get little focus, but there is a whole Seperatist Senate representing people on their worlds who believe in it.But the point is that at the killing and dying level heroism is centered on the ethical point of view of the ones enacting it. In the Vietnam War there were certainly heroes on both sides just as surely as there were villains on either side, while the big picture political realities were convoluted and debatable.
>>220442112>intelligent nuanced understanding of history as well as cinemalol kill urself prequel tranny.
>>220441287I think he's using "heroes" as a synonym for "champions" for some reason.
>>220442194That's redundant. All sides of any conflict have champions.
You can be a hero for any cause no matter how good/bad the cause is morally.
>>220441486cool, more homework cause the movie cant stand on its own
>>220442257The hero principle is not based on moral culpability. It’s based upon legal liability and consequential loss. The courts do not concern themselves with guilt or innocence.
>>220441287By the end of the war Padme was basically Sparatist btw. There was even a whole Rebelion subplot with Mon Mothma cut from RotS because it ended up diluting the film too much
>>220441442>War!WHAT IS IT GOOD FORABSOLUTELY NOTHINGhttps://youtu.be/ztZI2aLQ9Sw?si=8RrEU1l5Dk9_qBvn
>>220441287>Count DookuWhat did George mean by this?Count Shit?
>>220442257Was Epstein a hero?
>>220442574Yes, to Israel.
>>220442574Yes to the elites who took the fall for them. See how easy it was to understand this?
>>220441287A heroic figure is one who, during a time when self-preservation is most understandable, they are instead thinking of preserving something else. So every imperial officer who genuinely put the empire first was a hero of the empire
>>220442574He was a martyr
>>220442510GOOD GAWD
>>220442574He certainly wasnt an hero
>>220442653dang, so those nazi guards were the true heroes all along, thank you anon
>>220441287Dooku genuinely wanted to destroy the sith from the inside. He didn't want to fight Obi, felt bad seeing the Jedi die, and was looking to subvert Palpy. Sadly, this was portrayed very well this secret motivation should've been present in all 3 movies. Hell, Grievous, Maul, and Dooku should've been combined into one character who had this motive. You could even turn him into a Grievous by episode 3 if you really want to, as each foreshadow a part of Vader.
>>220444563It's shit like this that makes it abundantly clear Lucas didn't have a fucking plan and went in dry with the prequels. By episode 3 you could see he was scrambling to tie everything together.
>>220441361He means that those piling shit on you aren't always doing it to hurt you and the ones picking you up out of shit aren't always doing it to help.
>>220441842>Yo the Jedi aren't completely evil>They have well meaning people fighting for them>Army was literally vat born slaves
>>220445610Damn it's almost like these movies are fucking terribly written.
heroes in the classical greek sense, more so meaning "champion" than "hero"
>>220441361it should be obvious by now. yoda was a child molester.
>>220445610>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO you can't take this army that was going to be used against you and use them for yourself!Lol. Lmao even.
>>220445233yep hes notoriously bad at synthesizing his ideas into a cohesive story, but good at coming up with individual concepts.
>>220441287There are people doing heroic things on both sides. It's not that complicated.
>>220441287This little line makes redditors vomit and shit themselves with rage.
>>220441287You know the idea of a “hero” meaning someone morally righteous is a modern Western invention right? In ancient times a hero was just a warrior who kicked exceptional amounts of ass.
>>220441287>nooo the force isn't supposed to be literally balanced between light and dark, le dark side is a heckin' cancer!!!BTFO by your own master kek
>>220442185Prequekers are not trannies. They're crayon eaters who had the TPM DVD as their nanny.
>>220441287It's a civil war, There are parties fighting for fair causes. The droid army was just one part, there were rebellions in the fringe planets from the scarcity and bad distribution of resources, the poorer planets were the most affected by taxes, that's the whole reason there was a blockade. Some separatists died protecting their families, it's not all pointless greed.
>>220441287>What did George mean by this?Individuals on both sides of the conflict are fighting bravely?
I am so very tired of american politics
general grievous, wat tambor, count dooku, the list goes on

>>220441442What is it good for?>>220441287Dooku was a double agent.
>>220441442War! and Peace
>>220441287>What did George mean by this? Its a pointless war where both sides are being manipulated to fight for an agenda they don't understand.

>>220447662Nuke russia
>>220441287Republic was flawed as fuck. Many organics in Separatist space simply wanted to be treated better instead of being left to rot.
>>220441287It isn't hard to see that many saw the writing on the wall for the Republic, and fought for the separatists, thinking that it would achieve a better end. The Republic becomes the Empire after all.Yeah, the leaders of the separatists were controlled opposition, but that doesn't make the moral claims of its true adherents less valid.
>>220442574Yes, to Russia and China and no other nation.
>>220449808nah
>>220442558>Sith>shitNow you're nooticing.
>>220449734>Dooku was a double agent.Always felt the movies never showed this properly.
>>220441287>heroes on both sidesUnironically who?
>>220441287Just finished Maul - Shadow Lord.... Why does EVERYBODY, from George Lucas himself to the modern Disney writers, want me to hate the Empire so much? Like, in this series, that Lieutenant and all the Stormtroopers went out of their way to be as unpleasant and unlikable as possible. It's like a murder case where detectives keep trying to find more evidence to convict a murderer who has already been tried, sentenced and executed. It feels desperate and insecure. Almost as if the writers are going "hey, you hate the Empire, right? Well, we just wanna make sure you hate them enough. If you don't, HERE'S SOME MORE scenes of them being unnecessarily rigid, awful and one dimensional!"It's to the point where it feels ridiculous and unrealistic how evil and one dimensional the Empire is. I'm still an Empire guy, though, because fuck criminals and fuck terrorists.

>>220441287>What did George mean by this?Hoping that the audience read "Labyrinth of Evil Eviler" where glup shitto was portrayed as a tragic figure who watched the republic genocide his people and now fights their corrupt tyranny instead of a buffoonish cartoon villain who hates puppies and loses every fight he's in.
>>220450029The Empire being anything but pure evil is EU revisionism. It's based and I like the Empire, but let's not pretend like they have any redeeming features in the original movies. They're a totalitarian regime that blows up entire planets, killing billions, as a mere show of force; Stormtroopers are shown to have no problem killing innocents (Luke's foster parents), Vader straight up kills people who disagree with him, and they're being lead by an evil space wizard who looks like death and enjoys torturing people.

>>220441442Never been so much fun!
>>220441287He's referring to Commander Nefarious, Captain I'ma Badgu'y and Admiral Bone-to-Pick.
>>220450368Personally I liked chief rapist from the novelization of AOTC. His 30 page encounter with anakin's mom was a roller coaster of tense anxiety and subtle eroticism.
>>220448311nooo why is george lucas ruining those artists drawings :'(( doesn't he know those are the only copies of those storyboard pictures? they spent days drawing those things and this guy ruined them. unbelievable.
>>220450299You shut your whore mouth, Labyrinth of Evil was kino, and the RotS novelization even more so.
>>220442574>>220442589
>>220447541It would have been a VHS tape.
>>220450508I have never read any SW book so I'm not making fun of that specifically just that the prequels needed lots of spinoff media to fill in certain narrative gaps that lucas couldn't or wouldn't address in the movies themselves. Also grievous' backstory that gets contradicted in TCW what with him being a jobbing moron who is one dimensionally evil and not at all heroic or sympathetic in any way.
>>220441486Where are they in the movie?
>>220442112But the war is near exclusively fought by biorobot clones who will thoughtlessly kill their commanders a milisecond after being given the order, and an army of literal robots.

>>220450333>is EU revisionism.
