>people that care about animals are psychopathsWait what? Does the entire Sopranos franchise really believe this?Pop psychology is one thing but surely people can see the inherent contradiction?
>>220449596tony isn't a psychopath he's a sociopath these things do get tricky for ESLs so I understand
Cares about a dead horse enough to kill a made guy over it but tells another made guy who was grieving over his fathers death to just get over it. Sounds like a psychopath to me.
not just an ESL but also a retard? colour me surprised! *hides thread*
>>220449596No that’s not the point. It’s specifically about Tony’s relationship with animals, not a statement on animal people in general. They spell it out multiple times over the course of the show.
>>220449651That horse was a good earner
Is Tony really a psychopath? Tony used his connections to get a cop who gave him a speeding ticket fired. Tony later encountered the former cop working at a fountain/garden store. It's very apparent Tony felt remorseful. He realized it was a tremendous dick thing to do. A real psychopath wouldn't felt bad.
>>220449703It still seems like a scene highlighting Tony's narcissism . He feels like he fucked up by breaking some code or principle, then tries to fix things to make himself feel better
>>220449596Ducks flys away with penis
what everyone ITT is missing is the point where milfy gives up on him and cuts tony loose>psychiatric paper specifically states>sociopaths try to overcompensate by having a deep or genuine affection for children and animalslike it reads out exactly that way. that his love of animals is just another sociopathic trait.I remember this explicitly because it really fucked me up.>really glib depressed scumbag guy, never any long term relationship and Im in my 40s>all my life the "sociopath" bullshit word got thrown around by people around me but mainly girls that did manage to get close or maybe a few close male friends that I shared real opinions with about how I feel about the world>dismiss everyone as being dramatic and women like to paint men as serial killers or heartless monsters and use buzzwords to describe men with zero understanding about what they are really asserting (still think thats true)>sure guys that guy that cant even watch visine commercials without making his eyes water is unsympathetic. sure....>this scene comes on>sociopaths camouflage themselves with their concern and affection for animals>NAIL ON THE FUCKING HEADI still dont know if I believe it. I never heard of this anywhere outside of the sopranos.but it was one of those scenes that really clicked and made me look inward.for the record I dont think so but who knows. could be I guess. just seems like a low bar for such a dramatic label.
>people that care about animals are psychopathsthis makes no sensethe biggest indicator of psychopathy is little kids when they harm animals because they can get away with it
>>220449596it's more of the contrast between tony having this love and empathy for animals when he has close to none for people. it's like he tries to make good for what a horrible person he is, or he offloads the empathy he can't show for people on to animals
>>220449703people need to stop throwing sociopath and psychopath around, especially if there doesn't seem to be an agreed upon definition, or if there is most people don't now about them.Tony clearly still cares about what other people think of him and also has a high opinion of himself. Giving money to the cop also doesn't even come close to making good for what he did and also doesn't help the cop that much in the long run, if anything it's almost insulting. But he wants to do it to convince himself that deep down he isn't such a bad guy even if it clearly isn't true seeing how he treats others.
>>220450550Everyone with over an 80IQ has more empathy for animals than people, that's almost entirely on where we draw the IQ/intelligence testing of natives/savages compared to civilized manit dates all the way back to early sea going expeditions and documenting how natives treated other natives compared to animals or livestock, (if they were advanced enough to have live stock)Animal husbandry is one of, if not the first pillar that separates civilized man from pure savages.Even today, countries like India and other SEA countries are considered 3rd world, purely by how little empathy and registration they have with animal life, while barely having the ability to see themselves, as alive.Judging children sociopath today is still based entirely on how they treat animals
>>220450370i wouldn't worry about it anon
>>220450370How is it "camouflaging" though? It's pretty easy to understand why someone might have an affection for animals and children and not adults. They're innocent and relatively frictionless to get along with, they'll always love you back unlike adult people who are a lot more complicated. You can say it's underdeveloped sense of empathy but not "camouflaged"
>>220449643jesus fucking christ how monolingual can you get. both words are 0% English
>>220450518Well not according to The Sopranos fans and their very accurate knowledge of psychiatry. People that love animals only APPEAR to love animals and this is just another one of their tricks!
>>220450710For sociopaths it's performative. They overcompensate for how little they care about other human beings by outwardly being kind to low hanging fruit (young children/animals). It's not the same as "I don't trust people because people are complicated"
>>220449596Tony's not a psychopath, regular theme on the show about how guilty feels about the life he leads and that he's aware his evil is sending him to hell no matter how he tries to cope about. Psychopaths don't feel that much.
Other than your immediate family and closest friends, how many other people in the world do you sincerely care about?
>>220449596>people that care about animals are psychopathsFake falseflag thread. This was never said that in the show
