>Matt Groening threw a shitfit about promoting a god tier show made by former Simpsons writers but glazed the shitty Family Guy crossover
What was his fucking problem?
>>
>>220467072
He CORRECTLY knew that it would open the door to The Simpsons becoming a show where they try to get celebrity guests on over having real plots.
>but what about when they had Michael Jackson on in S2
Nigger that's Michael Jackson you make an exception for the, not hyperbolic, most popular man in the world.
>>
>>220467152
why hasn't he taken his name off the other six million episodes with celebrities

>GRRRR I HATE CROSSOVERS!
>OH X-FILES!? WE SHOULD DO A CROSSOVER!
This episode was only 2 seasons apart from the critic episode.
>>
smashing pumkins, kim basinger, ron howard... groening was just mad because the critic was coming close
>>
>>220467072
Hey man he was on Epstein island, that counts for something right?
>>
He had some integrity in the 90s, by the 2010s he just cared about getting some money and attention from the only property still earning a profit.
>>
because it was literally just to shill the critic, stuff like x files and other stuff was like a mutual promotion fun thing. This was just because fox knew the critic was going to flop like it already had on the other network and wanted to tie it to the simpsons
>>
the critic > the simpsons
>>
>>220467072
It's even less a "crossover" than an alternate version of Jay Sherman happens to inhabit the world of the Simpsons. You don't see anything else besides him from the Critic. By the time they crossovered with Family Guy Groening had been long clocked out.
>>

what about when ron howard and kim basinger showed up
>>
6th worst moment of my life s14e11 ""Barting Over." I was long since checked out of the Simpsons outside of reruns here and there. I didn't know how bad it got after s9. But I knew about this episode as it was branded as the 300th episode and featured my favorite band blink-182. Made a whole event out of it with my girlfriend at her parent's house. I wanted to crawl into a hole and die out of embarrassment from how awful it was. Jesus Christ, save me from this pain please.

>that counts for something right?
Nice reference
I really think that Groening really got away with acting like a dick for fun. That whole sentence sounds like a Simpsons' joke.
>>
>>220467152
I wonder how many kids Jackson lured into his sex lair by bragging about being on the Simpsons
>>
>>220469003
Why do that when he can brag that he's Michael Jackson?
>>
>>220467072
Crossovers are basically just playdates for studios. Celebrity cameos is just having to suck the celebrity’s dick for a week
>>
I have an angle to defend his thinking
when The Critic was being made, the concurrent Simpsons writing staff was even better. letting them make a Simpsons episode was technically letting an inferior group make the show
meanwhile, when Family Guy made the Simpsons crossover, Family Guy had a significantly better writing staff than The Simpsons at that time. they were letting a superior group make a Simpsons episode
If Matt Groening always wants the best writing staff making the Simpsons, then he was being consistent
