Name a more iconic moment

Is it iconic because they don't have their gay red shoes on for dancing in kid's blood?

This is what American youth needs right now. Positive male role models without toxic masculinity.

I can't stand how chummy these guys are, or at least pretend to be. No one cares if dead format hosts team up to play grabass and offer platitudes.

All the comedians sponsored by the Democratic Party

So iconic. Did Katy Perry sing for them?

Yes. His final show is next week

if by iconic you mean gay and unfunny, then i agree
>>

Unless I know there's real effort in combating bots and fake engagement, like if it was mandated by federal law or some shit, I just assume any displayed number online is fake. YouTube has been especially bad in the last few years.
>>
>>220471818
Because none of them have sat on a normal couch since 2008. Late night posture is a disease. You either perch like you're about to pivot to a monologue or you clamp your knees together like HR is in the cushions.

Also those dudes look like they’re watching a Blu-ray menu loop and pretending it’s content. At least the talk show guys know where to put their hands.
>>

Is late night show dying after Colbert leaves? Fallon just uses his show for props with guests and Kimmel is just a monologue show with some interviews
>>
>>220473387
Late night shows died after Carson, Leno & Letterman left.
>>
>>220471694
I never quite understood America's fascination with late night talk shows. It's the one TV phenomenon whose popularity completely puzzles me. Even Japanese variety and British panel shows make more sense.

There are many young people who get their political views from these people. The same happens in other countries too, adaptions from American Late Night shows.

Maybe young people watch Oliver but I find it hard to believe that anyone under the age of 40 actually cares enough to watch any of these people even on YouTube. Fallon has the best shot since he just plays shitty party games that women in college love to play and kimmel has the whole Matt Damon thing he’s able to pull out every few months but that’s all just one off stuff that doesn’t bring in ad revenue
>>
>>220474306
It was a cult of personality really, Carson is considered the king mostly because he was the closest thing people could get to “peaking behind the curtain” of Hollywood and he was just likable and knew talent enough to bring in decent comics. I don’t know fully about Leno but he was a great stand up but shit in every other capacity and letterman tapped into Gen X’s sardonic nature of not giving a fuck what they say and are. It goes the same direction for a bit but the remnants of today are just there simply because the aging network heads are still thinking this shit could work

Maybe it has changed with Zoomers, they probably don't watch these shows, aside from maybe short clips. During the 2010s, I had this feeling how many young people still watched these shows because Youtube even forces it on you. Some moments also got viral.

>I never quite understood America's fascination with late night talk shows.
People would watch them to cap off their evening. It used to be light, inoffensive content you could fall asleep to, and talk about with friends or coworkers the next day. When Letterman and Leno retired and the new batch came in, they made their executives' soapbox because they're puppets with exec hands up their asses telling them what to say. It's not subtle and led to their decline. People don't want to hear about someone else's political screeds when they're about to go to sleep.

Also it's 2026, what kind of faggot cares about "late night TV" anymore? And, finally, "iconic" is a nigger word, OP. Post hand or gtfo.

I work at a college and speak with kids all the time, a decent amount still watch SNL but I think that’s just because it’s live and “real” I’ve never really heard any of them talk about ANYTHING the late night people do. I think that some were interested in Colbert when he made the switch but never did anything to maintain the interest of young kids

>>220480599

Weird how he would invite all the people that cost him his job onto his show to act friendly towards. Aren't they supposed to be competitors, not friends? Shows just how much collusion there really is.
>>
>>220481857
You tried this before and it didn’t work. Colbert got more ratings than anyone on that stage and was clearly the consistent front runner on network. He’s getting canned because it’s not generating any revenue and hasn’t since before covid
>>
>>220481942
If he's the best and losing money then how do the others still have shows? Do you even think before you post things?

Kimmel got a one year extension despite the fact that it should’ve been a three year one. I don’t think he’ll go longer but it looks like ABC is banking on the hole created by Colbert to make more ratings for him. Oliver is on HBO so I don’t know what ratings mean for them but from the look of it he’s doing fine but who knows what’ll happen when bill mahar finally calls it quits. And despite the fact that Fallon should’ve gotten the boots YEARS ago, the tonight show is an IP older than all of the IPs on that stage combined and I don’t think universal has any legacy IPs like that still in effect so he’ll last for far longer on that

Like most of Hollywood yes. The investments blackrock and other firms can completely dwarf the potential earnings from the box office or probably even advertising revenue.

my dad (old school lib who is practically a moderate by todays standards and refuses to acknowledge how extreme the party has swung left) likes Oliver and Maher. Watches them regularly to this day
>>
>>220482814
I remember trying to get my dad to watch Jon Stewart when I was in high school and he never wanted to bother, now that I’m not watching anything of this shit he watches it all religiously. He’s an old school Democrat but we really try not to discus politics, I disagree with them way to much to ever want to make every conversation a fight
