Why doesn't /tv/ like Evil Dead Rise?
>>
I like it
>>
evil dead ended with army of darkness
i don't watch fan films
>>
>>220472651
It was just generally pretty shitty. A forgettable, girlboss-era attempted cash grab that'll only be remember as exactly that.
>>
The new ones without Ash are too nihilistic
>>
>>220472651
Man with a chainsaw
>Badass! So cool! He is literally me!
Woman with a chainsaw
>Girlboss woke shit!
It literally is just chuds and boomers crying Ash is not the protagonist anymore. Rise and the previous reboot are all great.
>>
>>220473342
this. why the fuck would i ever watch the remake or some unrelated bullshit making a buck off the brand name
>>
I don't like that it wastes an incredibly photogenic actress who looks very striking when she looks afraid and plasters unconvincing, stupid effects and makeup on her face instead. The plot is just kinda mean (but not mean enough to be remarkable) and ends on a non-cathartic, cheesy note that doesn't leave you satisfied.
The film is like every mid horror movie nowadays. Can't decide if it's goofy or serious, has a few good ideas (like it being set in a condemned building, the casting), but ultimately can't bring it home.

he's not that wrong
that bitch is the typical new woman who's going to need no man to have her baby and raise it
it's the new trend they do it in a bunch of movies
they did it with jurassic world 3 and then with the new omen movie too
ib4 schizo poltard
fuck it i'm right

>>220472651
girls were too cute to be scary
>>
It wasn't very creative and it just wasn't done very well. Most of the things people praise it for were ripped straight from recent video games. Also how do you introduce a cat who fucks around on the ventilation shaft and then not turn them into a deadite cat? The setup is just "there are ventilation shafts you can crawl through" fuck you movie! Have fun!
>>
>>220473623
No one complained about the girl, you faggot. There is a literal tranny on the movie

i don't dislike it, but it does feel off compared to the others.
i think it's the apartment setting.
>b-but army of darkness is not just a different setting, but a totally different genre!
shut up

RISE RISE GAMERS RISE RISE RISE GAMERS RISE
GAMERS!!!! RISE UP!!!!
>>

I'm actually much more interested in Burn than I ever was in Rise because it looks different. It's not just some shmuck trying to rip Sam Raimi off. The only thing that's worrying to me is that the deadites seem like feral zombies when they've always been more demonic and lucid
>>
>>220472651
I liked it
Saw it in theaters and everything
>>
>>220472651
I do like it. So far there hasn't been a single Evil Dead movie that I didn't like. And I look forward to the next one
>>
I liked it much more than the lame remake, which was overrated as hell. The intro in particular was great. The ending was very silly though, the blob creature was more ridiculous than scary, and the demons were much easier to kill or incapacitate than they had been up to that point.
>>
>>220473623
My woke fatigue to anti-woke fatigue has turned back into woke fatigue.

It follows the 2013 movie insofar as the deadite are the main focus despite being just generic possessed characters (but with vulgarity).
The 2nd half of ED1 and 1st half of ED2 are full out assaults on the reality around Ash as well as deadites and the new movies just barely even try. Oh, blood raining down from the sky, blood filling an elevator, how novel.
Also the violence is too realistic whereas the violence in ED is by and large cartoony slapstick, even when there is gore. Just compare the scenes where Ash cuts off his own hand in ED2 compared to the woman in 2013. And Rise shows stuff like a cheese grater on skin and a teenage character chewing on glass. Not fun or even edgy, just unpleasant.
It's really a consistently reinforcing notion that no one has any real idea what makes Evil Dead stand out in the first place and Burn looks like it'll be more of the same.
>>
>>220472651
It's not Evil Dead, to begin with
>>
>>220473623
Just stop being woke.
Nobody likes it anyway
>>
>>220475476
This
very well said
>>
>>220476107
female horror protagonists are not woke
final girls have been around longer than the Evil Dead franchise, and Bruce Campbell is too old, the dude is almost 70
>>
>>220472651
Because the deadites are no longer funny.
>>
>>220474493
Damn they put a rice beast ching chang chong in the new one? PASS
>>
>>220473342
>>220473654
I'm the same way but i kind of treat these as a separate timeline/ Alt universe kinda. I would have liked them to include more bits alluding to Ash and the previous films and i think there might be some of that coming up since Campbell said he would reprise his roll so we'll see. For now it's just generic modern horror with ED name as title
>>
>>220476170
>female horror protagonists are not woke
They are for Evil Dead.
>>220476170
>final girls have been around longer than the Evil Dead franchise, and Bruce Campbell is too old, the dude is almost 70
Evil Dead was the only horror franchise with a male protag. The only one. And yet still it was handed over to the girls.
>>
>>220476244
who should replace Ash then? It would need to be someone who can do slapstick
>>
>>220476285
It doesn't have to be someone who's an exact copy of Ash.
My point was that the lead for Evil Dead should always be a male; just like how every single Alien movie/spinoff has a female for a lead and they're not all Sigourney Weaver are they?
>>
>>220476341
I guess you have a point. I still enjoy the fem-led Evil Dead Movies though. They are a class above most horror films made these days
>>
>>220476236
You're a pathetic human being and should kill yourself
>I'm the same as you guys but this are heckin cool just give them a chancerino!!!!!!
>>
>>220473746
i would never pull out of that
>>
>>220473342
I didn't like Army of Darkness personally, it was too goofy for me. I love the first two movies though, they're some of my favorite horror movies of all time.

Rise was kinda okay-ish, although that intro thingie at the lake was pretty cringe. But it did have some pretty good atmosphere. I really liked the Evil Dead (2013) movie as well, except for the ending.
