So she definitely saw something hellish, right? It doesn't make sense for the grandma to kill herself if 1. the girl saw nothing, because she'd have no solid proof of there being nothing, or 2. saw something good, because then grandma would want to share that with everyone else. Grandma shooting herself after learning that the afterlife is terrible would make sense, because she couldn't live anymore knowing nothing but suffering awaits her once she died and/or she didn't want her organization to learn about it as well.
