Movies from the 2000s are easy, now pick something after 2010.
I liked Minecraft and Five Nights at Freddy's 2. No, not "ironically". I've been a huge fan of Jared Hess since Nacho Libre, I thought Minecraft extended his "drama for kids" approach in a nice way and a lot of the things people lauged at "because they were bad" were inetentional. It's like nobody has seen Napoleon Dynamite anymore and just thought the movie poofed into existence so none of it could have possibly been on purpose.FNaF2 was just an episode of goosebumps. If you didn't get it then whatever.

>came out in your adult lifeBut what if I only watched it in my adult life? What difference does it make?Faggot image.
>>220484802weird to think something so tame could be a cognitohazard. this is why you have to make sure your kids are given infinite reflections to ponder starting young
>>220476683>THE GREEN HORNET>45% Rotten Tomato ScoreThis came out when superhero popularity was at its peak. It had klever kino editing and cinematography. And it was directed by Michel Gondry who all critics (Except that nigger Armond White) adulate. The fight scenes were well choreographed, the jokes landed, and there were a lot of great practical effects.I genuinely don't understand the cold reception it got.I saw it in a free screening, so otherwise I might've just listened to the critics and seen the box office and passed on it.
>>220485267what is christoph waltz doing there lmao
>>220485132To be fair I don't actually know if SuckerPunch triggered her spastication, she's always been a bit of a schizo, I just think it's funny to connect the two.

>>220478849>>220483427It’s a bit predictable and trite, but the aesthetics and sfx are actually fucking excellent. Watched it a bunch of times just for that.
>>220485460what you call "predictable and trite", I'd call telling a simple story but telling it well. I certainly prefer a film which tells a simple story with soul (which it does) than one which tries to tell a complex story without having any soul (see: how Nolan will probably end up doing the Odyssey)
I liked Emilia Pérez
>>220480958>was this good?I really liked it. I also went in dead blind and after seeing how it was marketed I'm not entirely surprised anyone who saw all the trailers and ads had a very different viewing experience than I did. Almost all of the marketing had massive spoilers that completely undercut the vibe of the beginning 3/4th of the movie. The visuals were great and it was a fun standalone sci-fi movie in an era of endless franchise slop.
>>220485515>70% on Rotten Tomatoes>Award nominations out the neo-wazoo.>Mainstream media salivating over it and the "MESSAGE" it sends>THEM all cheering for Karla Sofia Gascon to be the first transwoman to win Best Actress>Condescension from the overeducated class toward the Latino and Tranny community for not accepting this movieDoesn't qualify
>>220485601hm i'll give it a go, all I remember about it was that it came out around the same time as that Will Smith scifi movie so it'll be like going in blind too
>>220476683I looked at my letterboxd and I couldn't find a single example.
>>220485512I’m surprised the film didn’t do better, because as I said the story could’ve been a little stronger, but it’s perfectly engineered as normie blockbuster . It’s definitely more soulful than it has any right to be; comfy and earnest. It’s the presentation that really elevates it though.
>>220485706the presentation is in fact what elevates it, that and cruise being cruise. the whole "how can a man die better" stuff came out of nowhere and really got to me in particular.

>>220485515This is a great choice. I haven't seen it and never will, but it seems like the lower audience score is harder than the lower critic score.
Mr bean movie is at 50% and I remember it being pretty funny
>>220477374The time travel in it was so inconsistent though. And a chunk of the foreshadowing only has any payoff in an ending they didn't use.

I can quote entire scenes from memory. It simply never fails to brighten up my day, and I will always cherish it.Sa da tay!
>>220488620It does have 53% on RT, but I still feel it's worth mentioning since I absolutely love it, and I think me loving both Pootie Tang and Antichrist proves that I am not an NPC.
step brothers is at 54%, so fuck it i don't feel like searching anymore
It doesn't completely meet the criteria because it's at 63% on Rotten Tomatoes, but I honestly love Hamlet 2. There's just something about it ("Rock Me Sexy Jesus" is kind of a bop).
>41% on RTBut it's such a funny movie though.

>>220482826most film reviewers have a very strong bias against low-brow comedy because they see high-brow as synonymous with quality. they do it with all genres but it's most acute with comedy.
>>220489452Mark Kermode seething is always a good time, whether I agree or disagree.
>>220488620this and the Hebrew Hammer actually convinced me to sit down and write a screenplay for a Nazisploitation comedy. like, just like those two but with a neonazi protag going around stomping out Jews and blacks and communists. as stupid and schlocky as possible.
>>220489611the intent was to try and filter out films (you) saw as a child and therefore would overrate because of nostalgia.
I've never heard of the original show but the movie on it's own is a pretty fun action comedy and probably wouldn't have gotten such a negative reception if it was an original character
>>220482073A fellow connoisseur. I worked with a marine who nerded out about how good the military consultants were on this movie and got me in to it
>>220476921Constantine is great. The scene where the priest is fruitlessly trying to get drunk is up there with one of the most disturbing scenes in cinema. But all the booze looked pretty tasty, and he got to guzzle a lot of that before he went so that's cool
Chronicles of Riddick is at 29% RT, are fucking kidding me?
>>220479768Just dumb gay 2000s ghostbusters. I like David Duchovny even though this was the beginning of his Hank Moody schtick

>39% on RTOne of my all-time favorite comedies. Not even a Jack Black fan in general, but this is one where he actually plays a different character from himself.>It's the best. I love it.
>>220490343The theatre cut is kinda rough and rushed.
I actually enjoyed it alot. I can see why people dont like it. Armie Hammer isnt very charismatic, Johnny Depp is just doing Jack Sparrow 2.0. Hans Zimmer is phoning it in, the color grade is just a big "Why?" and the whole native massacre scene was completely tonedeaf.Despite that, I actually liked it. Dont know why, just like wacky cowboy movies and I blame it on my affection for Bud Spencer & Terrence Hill movies.
No mention of The Spirit?Scarjo in sexy outfits and Samuel L Jackson as a villain? I loved it
>>220476683Ghost in the Shell with ScarJo.
>>220490539the last scene in minecraft with him and evil pig lady had nacho libre energy.wish the whole flick was like that
>>220476683Norbit. I don't know why but I found it both heartwarming and hilarious.
>>220476683Adult life makes it harder. I would say Joker 2 and Glass. Maybe Megalopolis. I think WW84 is amazing as a camp piece and, since the DCEU is overall garbage, probably the best thing to come out of it. That probably falls under 'so bad its good', but I really dislike that phrase as a description for movies.

>>220476732The only thing bad about it is the Cat suit, everything else is legitimately great.
it wasn't THAT bad. Most of the complaints I've read about the film are from people who haven't read the original book. The shear amount of seethe it caused is also really funny.
>>220476869>>220490860>just look up every film you likeaint nobody got time for that

>>220478334Based nu-Death Race anon. The second movie is really the only bad one in the list and that's mostly because of how it reuses footage and all the cars from the first one. 3 and 4 are kino also 4 has a lot of tits
