This was creepy as hell and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but expected it to be a bit deeper and more twisted
>>220485237>that one scene where a bunch of fratbros mock Tom Cruise by calling him a fagBased.
>>220485237Kubrick died before he could finish it and one of the missing scene is rumored to be the sacrifice of the girl that saves bill's life. So it should have probably been more twisted. Also at the very last scene when bill and alice are talking in the shop, you can see the butler taking away their daughter, it's easy to miss. But yeah Stanley definitely tried to tell us something here, probably tried to warn us about mkultra.Really weird that he died before he could finish it, almost like they didn't want him to...
>>220485237I finally got around to watching The Firm. Also with Tom Cruise. Kinda reminded me of this. Exposure to hidden power elite, but it was more crime thrillery.
It's crazy it's the chick from hills have eyes
>>220485845enjoy>>220485665this, he was aced before he could get it out
>>220485237I've said for a long time it would have been way harder hitting if he used child prostitutes at the party. and he was a coward for not doing it.
Kubrick was a freemason but got sick of it
>>220485845me againsorry forgot pic
>>220486121Good stuff. Only one bingo for now. Need to rewatch twin peaks movie.
>>220486589best next choice on the listbeware with Dogtooth, its more graphic than the rest but still worth a watch for reasons youll understand
Seconds 1966 was pretty crazy
This is the one Kubrick movie I haven't seen. Is it as good as the rest of his movies? I always thought the production and visuals looked a little different/cheaper from clips.
>>220486981I've seen it twice and it seems to get better each time. Like the shining
>>220485237The first shot of the film is the Masonic square and compass symbol. Kidman is wearing a v shaped dress standing in front of open curtains that form an upside down v. She slips the dress off and you see her naked backside. Later, the prostitute is seen wearing a Masonic square and compass top. Why include it? Who knows.
>>220485408>push him into the garbage and laughI admit I chuckled
The story is whites and kikes and how they love kidnapping, torturing, raping and murdering little kids around the world
>>220486981Kubrick got cruise to do his best performance by putting him in a cuck chair by having kittman do an extra long cut of a sex scene with some model to use only 30 seconds of it
>>220485408I realize that it's a very tired comeback, but as it's played the fratbros really do seem to signal their own repressed homosexuality with the aggressiveness and specificity of their taunting. IIRC one of them smacks himself on the butt in a sort of mocking, faux-invitation for the Tom Cruise character to sodomize him. Under ordinary circumstances, that's not the sort of gesture that a straight man would make, even in jest.
>>220485237Was NYC really like that in the late 1990s. So clean and white?
I watched it recently. I liked it but felt it was a little too long. The plot is just "Guy finds out about secret elite sex gatherings, gets disturbed", it doesn't have to be 2 hours 40 minutes
I thought it was a great film and I was very disappointed and demoralized by the fact that 90% of the online discourse around the film is not about the plot at all, and is instead conspiracies about DUDE KUBRICK PREDICTED EPSTEIN DUDE THEY KILLED HIM BRO. The film is about sex, marriage, lust, sexual fantasy and the paranoia of infidelity and guilt over your own potential infidelity.
>>220486981The shots are framed as beautifully as you expect from a Kubrick movie. It's really artful. I don't think Cruise matches the performance of Nicholson in the Shining, he's pretty wooden in it. And the plot is brooding and slow burning.
>>220485408That scene is in the film because the film is based on a novel about some Jew living in Europe and going to a magical orgy, and that is obviously an antisemitic mob hounding a poor innocent Jew on the street. It sorta makes little sense when transferred to Tom Cruise.
>>220488591
>>220487551>>220485665Definitely stuff was cut out. I think it was supposed to be implied that Kidman was from a generationally abusive family and may have multiple personalities.
>>220488413It was filmed in the UK. Stanley avoided being in the usa for reasons
>>220486981Have you REALLY watched every single other Kubrick film with the sole exception of this one? It's an interesting film, I recommend watching it. I liked how it was structured, at least on the surface. I rank it toward the upper-middle of his filmography. He also tosses in LOTS of self-homages which the connoisseur can discern, and in that sense it's a nice career capstone. A dead man is in a bed with a very fancy, plush headboard and delicate period furniture in the room (2001). A mother and young child are sitting in a very ordinary 80s/90s interior with bright white walls, kitchen gadgets, brand name consumables etc (The Shining). Bill (Cruise) takes a right-angle turn down into a little basement jazz club, and the nature of the shot is very similar to two shots from The Killing, Bill invites himself into a fancy home at night, puts on a mask, and sex/rape is involved (Clockwork Orange), etc.
>>220485237>Dr. Antony Kidman died Friday after fleeing Australia when accused of the sexual abuse and murder of children in an elite Sydney pedophile ring. A month prior Fiona Barnett had filed a complaint with the Australian NSW police and Child Abuse Royal Commission alleging Kidman’s sexual and physical assaults on her throughout childhood. When the Commission opened an investigation the clinical psychologist suddenly left his 43 years with the Sydney University of Technology and Royal North Shore Hospital to stay in Singapore until he died. The family has refused to comment and Singapore police opened an investigation on what they termed as an unnatural death.fuck her and her freemason familybet she knew epstein
>>220488591Film and TV aren’t innocent forms of art that simply express aspects of life for entertainment. They’re weapons of mass indoctrination. This is one reason why there are so many in America that are reflexively anti white while also claiming to be anti racist. They’ve been taught through persistent messaging via entertainment. There have been dozens of films about WW2. The message has always been Germans were sadistic nazis and Americans saved the world. So many other examples of other messages, pro feminism, anti nationalism, anti Christianity found in films. It’s naive to think billion dollar studios are merely interested in selling tickets and merchandise. Ignore the political and social effects of mass media at your own peril.
>>220490719I agree, but I don't see what that has to do with my post. Eyes Wide Shut is based on a novel with a real plot and it was written in 1926.

>>220489010>Have you REALLY watched every single other Kubrick film with the sole exception of this one?Just everything from The Killing on.
>>220485237Sucks that Kubrick died before he could explain what it’s really about
>>220485237Watch The Ninth Gate starring Johnny Depp. They both came out the same year nearly around the same time and both are thrillers dealing with secret societies. A good double feature.
>>220488654Ok, but Eyes Wide Shut is a remake of of the film of the book.
>>220486981It's probably his best film. I rewatched it a few nights ago form the 4k Criterion disc which restores the original look of the film. Kubrick was a photographer and this movie has some of the best lighting, staging, and compositions he's ever filmed.
We'll never know what movie Kubrick was making because he couldn't fully edit it. Still kino.
>>220488654>jew stereotypes don't make sense when transferred to space jews
>>220487551First shot is a stretch. Second comment about the girls outfit looking like the square and compass is more legit.
>>220488413Yes, but this movie was filmed on a giant set made to look like New York because kurbick didn't like flying. He made all his films in england pretty much. He needs to go overseas? He would go by boat and then train. One of my favorite shots is Tom Cruise walking with a projection screen behind him. Kubrick really understood that good films are supposed to be illusions and not documentaries. Almost all his films have at some point a projected scene. The one in the Shining surprised me because I thought it was an actual outdoor shot.
