You mean being sober and acting drunk or ... whatever it is Orson Welles did in his later roles?
>>
>>220489527
OP or Jimmy Stewart?
>>
>>220489573
Either.
>>
>>220489584
Well, for the former, I guess, it has to be Freddie Frinton in Dinner For One (1963).
For the latter ... Orson Welles in his later roles.

Same. Good stuff indeed. Really liked Arthur Kennedy in it too (and it's always a delight to see Julie Adams).
>>
>>220489798
An underrated one is Ford's Two Rode Together, basically a more relaxed, lighter version of The Searchers; kind of has a similar feel to Donovan's Reef, it's one of my "comfort" films.

Don't you fags realise that addressing him and engaging with him just makes him post more? When he's completely ignored he never spams this much.

Anyway, the italian film i ended up watching was Marcia nuziale, another one of Ferreri's satires about marriage/family life, this one not really inspired or amusing; i find his cynicism quite tiresome a lot of the time, especially in the 60s films of his i've seen; his films from the 80s on i liked a lot when i saw them in my early 20s but maybe that would change now, we'll see. I almost watched Freda's Il cavaliere misterioso instead, probably would've liked that more.

Is this scripted or are the children just improvising?
Also, who thought that fucking AI filter over the poster was a good idea?
>>
>>220493238
I don't know but Dumont likes his improv. I would assume it depends scene-to-scene. Why do you think the poster is a filtered photograph? It kinda looks like a genuine painted poster to me.
>>
>>220493262
>It kinda looks like a genuine painted poster to me.
Nah. Nobody paints this messy and unevenly. Certain spots give it away: Look at the lower left leg of the girl in pink: The filter obviously didn't know what to do with the shadow and just made it a big disorderly blob of dark strokes.
>>
>>220493325
Maybe. I mean I wouldn't put it past Dumont that he would approve an AI slop filter poster. Although I don't know if he even has a say in the art design of the film's promotional material.

What would you say is the closest that TV has come to attaining a level of high art?

I would have to suggest The Twilight Zone, especially the episode 'Walking Distance.' That episode specifically always seems to give me chills just thinking about it and I always tear up watching it. Its so masterfully done and could easily be watched by any person at any time and carry its message like some kind of ancient mythical tale.

What I do is all lies, it's all artifacts. I don't believe in truth and if there is any effect of truth in my films, it is a miracle. But it is all fabricated, all lies, all scripted, all made-up, all false. I believe in that, I believe in falsehood. And I think it's the only way to perceive something.

>What have you seen lately that’s sparked something in you?

>You know, the movie I keep thinking about—and I don’t think it’s something that I would be able to do or even interested in doing—is Magellan by Lav Diaz. I mean, the film really impressed me. I had seen a couple of his other movies, but this one is something else. And I realized that it has some kind of dreamlike quality, which is something I’ve always been looking for in movies, and I think it’s a very profound and very ambitious and fascinating film. I kind of loved it when I watched it, but now I realize—if I’m trying to think of recent movies that have struck me—I mean: that’s the one.
