myers is unique among comedy pricks because his whole thing is that he's actually a perfectionist who's obsessed with getting it right. he's doing these goofy movies but approaching them with the intensity and micromanaging of somebody like edward norton and that's why everybody hates him. he famously insisted on recording his entire performance for shrek twice, but the second time was with the scottish accent, and obviously it worked out.

I think Mike puts a lot of creativity and effort into his characters and his humour and all to him, but he sure as shit didn't want anything to do with Carvey after Waynes World 2 and distanced himself from SNL as soon as his legs could carry him off that plantation. From there, he just had hit after hit after hit. In fact, his whole life was that. He literally finished his final exam at high school and was hired by The Second City comedy club 2 hours later and branched to Saturday Night Live. His schtick got old by Austin Powers 3 and The Love Guru and The Cat and the Hat solidified the jig being up once it was revealed what a sour puss he could be.
