Has anyone watched this? The original movie was fine. Not a master piece, but I watched it in the theater and got the dvd back in the day. Simple story, well told, good cast. Why remake it 20 years later with a lesser cast as a limited series? The movie was just under 2.5hrs and could have been shorter. I am in ep2 of the series and not impressed. Somehow they had to show the one incident that broke him and how bad he was, etc. the movie skipped all of that and it was perfectly fine. the show has high profile terrorists openly fighting the federal government in brazil, the movie had organized crime in utterly corrupt mexico city. quite different stakes and resources at play. Who is this for? Was Denzel not black enough? Is it any closer to the book (which I have not read, but apparently was sat in Italy)? The movie was a proto-Equalizer, but with a more grounded Denzel. The show so far is just action slop with a generic Terminal List/Lone Wolf/No Remorse ripoff super soldier waging a private war (not judging those 3 shows).Does it get better or drop it now?
The original movie IS a masterpiece. I don't care about thus series.
I remember rhe camerawork being horrible when I watched it as a 12 yo. Or rather, I watched 10 minutes
Without Washington in the main role -- and some non-entity kang replacing him, no less -- the film is clearly just another straight-to-Warez, money-laundering scam for kikes to wipe Palestinian baby blood from greenbacks.
