Why did Snyderverse fail?
>>
Not enough Indians to buy reviews from
>>
>>220497402
because Wonder Woman didn't say "Kal-El, Yes" and join (evil) Superman in the implied Injustice storyline
>>
>>220497402
Zack Snyder
>>
>>220497402
Part of it was that it wasn't quippy and marvel-y enough, as was the trend at the time and seemingly what the broader capeshit audience was looking for, but most of it was the fact that WB execs seemed to be doing everything in their power to fuck up their attempt at their own extended cinematic universe. It's frankly baffling the lengths they went to to fuck up their projects.
>>
>>220497402
take your pick

> biggest sin: speedran right to justice league to try and chase avengersbux
> killed off one of your main characters in movie #2
> movie 1 had kill controversy
> movie 2 had generational bad villain
> movie 2 should print money on paper but underwhelmed, which caused studio loss of confidence in movie 3
> movie 3 didn't correct enough mistakes of first 2, which led studio to bring in whedon
> whedon was absolute shit
> complete tonal shift was too much because cannot into subtle and gradual
> all these problems cause your other main character to lose passion for character and decides to leave

WB are truly retarded but this is par for the course for them, they mishandled batman throughout the 90s too. just blind fucking luck that nolan fell into their lap and he only did batman to build credit with them so he could do his own shit then zaslov fucked that relationship up too
>>
>>220497529
You forgot that BvsS trailers spoiled the whole movie including Doomsday and WonderWoman which was a peak marketing move
>>
They went for grim over quips to start. Then pivoted for more quips while keeping the grim aesthetic but by then the quips made them look like B tier marvel.

And neither does the rest of the world when characters like Batman and Vader mog Superman and Luke Skywalker in the eyes of the majority. People prefer cool guys over nice guys. Simple as.

Geoff Johns and Walter Hamada actively conspired to sabotage the entire process. It's literally a fluke that BvS is the masterpiece that it is considering the fucked up development of that film.

building a multi billion dollar movie franchise around a filmmaker who is clearly clinically retarded and only has a career because of his producer wife may have been a mistake

>did the same thing for watchmen
>did retarded shit for DCEU for some reason
what did he mean by this?
>>
>>220497402
Snyder’s superman was much more mature and demanded more of the audience than those retards could handle. It remains in consciousness much like Prometheus because of its thematic uniqueness.
Regardless, most the of reason it failed is because Snyder made some mind bogglingly shitty, basic errors in writing. Eg in MoS Zod and the other Kryptonians acclimating to the yellow sun in 5 seconds when it took Superman like 20 years. Or all the retarded shit in BvS like the Martha scene and the plot ridiculousness required to have Batman beat Superman.
The tone was an issue too. In Justice League there wasn’t enough emotional weight in the scenes to justify the seriousness with which the characters acted. Ezra Miller’s Flash notably did not fit in well at all
>>
>>220498200
>>did the same thing for watchmen
the problem with watchmen is that even though it is technically faithful, it clearly misunderstands the source material at a fundamental level.

Looking back, the DCEU/Snyderverse is one of the weirdest and funniest things to ever happen in pop culture history. Let's recap this hilarious mess.
>Man of Steel
A movie that was never intended to start a shared universe, pissing everyone off with its bleak tone and questionable narrative decisions like "stop, my invincible son" and having a depressed sociopathic Superman kill more people than he saves, including Zod. It's a hilarious mess that still has people mad to this day.
>Batman v Superman
One of the strangest big budget blockbusters ever made. An absolute fever dream; a strange self-indulgent arthouse flick masquerading as a big budget superhero blockbuster that focuses on the human response to Superman's existence. Produced hilarious memes like Jesse Eisenberg's ridiculous performance as Lex Luthor, Superman's weird Dr Manhattan arc, Batman acting like the Punisher, Granny's peach tea and of course MARTHA! One of the most divisive, talked about movies ever.
>Suicide Squad
Quite simply one of the worst movies ever made, bolstered only by Jared Leto's cringe inducingly hilarious turn as the Joker and the awful songs they commissioned for it, including Rick Ross' "Purple Lamborghini" which gave us a hilarious music video featuring even more Jared Leto Joker cringe. Ruined Halloween costumes forever and spawned the embarrassing failed "Release the Ayer cut" movement.
>Wonder Woman
A film that everyone loved at the time. Hailed as groundbreaking due to its depiction of a powerful female superhero and praised for its performances and poignant tone. Now loathed because its lead actor is a Zionist war criminal.

Snyderman was a literal manchild. The most immature portrayal so far, by far.
The only thing it demanded is a level of suspension of belief that simply doesn't exist.

Stop crying already

>Justice League
A commercial and critical disaster that was the result of the literal personification of Reddit stepping in to direct after Snyder's daughter ACK!-ed herself. An ugly eysore of a movie and a complete tonal mess that is only remembered for Henry Cavill's CGI upper lip. A failure so big that it forced WB to change the creative trajectory of the DCEU and completely remove Snyder and Cavill from the DCEU equation. Caused Ray Fisher to chimp out and get blacklisted by the studio.
>Aquaman
Released over a year after Justice League. An unironic comedy featuring CGI fish men riding giant seahorses and Jason Mamoa and Amber Heard walking through a desert while Pitbull's cover of Toto's "Africa" plays in the background. Somehow grossed over 1.3 billion dollars. The most successful DCEU movie.
>Shazam
A fun little movie and one of the better entries in the DCEU. Barely made any money due to being overshadowed by Marvel. Featured a body double with his head obscured stepping in for Henry Cavill's Superman in a post-credit scene.
>Birds of Prey
Feminist girlboss movie that barely anyone saw (largely due to COVID) and yet triggered an online culture war all the same.
>Wonder Woman 1984
An embarrassing disaster of a film that completely shat all over the previous one. Wonder Woman rapes a guy in it. Used as an example of Gal Gadot's acting inability.
>>
>>220498499
>Why do people parrot this?
Because it's true. But I mostly blame the writers for that

>Zack Snyder's Justice League
The result of an extremely obnoxious years long online fan campaign that waged cyber war against those who denied its existence and forced WB to give Snyder 70 million dollars to make it. Dropped on HBO Max and Sky Cinema (in the UK/Europe). 4 hours long and claimed to be a restoration of Snyder's original vision, even though it features a bunch of new scenes like Swanwick being revealed as Martian Manhunter and a bunch of shitty post-credit stuff baiting sequels that never happened. Not a terrible film and fixed most of the problems of the original. Not good or successful enough to save the DCEU. Triggered the ongoing "Restore the Snyderverse" movement.
>The Suicide Squad
James Gunn's first foray into the DCEU. A soft reboot of the original and a much better film. However, it bombed at the post-Covid box office and laid the seeds for a complete universal reboot.
>Black Adam
A film that The Rock campaigned to make for years. Stuck in development hell for a long time until it finally entered production. The Rock hailed it as the film that would "change the hierarchy of the DC Universe forever" and pulled strings to bring Cavill back as Superman. Ended up being (unsurprisingly) a forgettable ugly mess of a movie that failed at the box office and was lampooned by critics as a massive piece of shit. The Rock continued to defend it after release and made up a bunch of lies claiming that it generated a profit before both he and Cavill were fired (again for Cavill).
>Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Forgettable sequel that absolutely no one saw or cared about. Its failure caused Zachary Levi to become a right-wing schizo.
>>
>>220497402
I came up with a derogatory nickname for him: Hack Snyder
You can use it if you wanta

>The Flash
Stuck in development hell for years. Originally intended to be a part of the original DCEU slate before the failure of Justice League (2017) forced WB to change its structure. Numerous directors were hired and then fired by WB. Eventually entered production under Andy Muschetti. Intended to completely reboot the DCEU through a story inspired by Flashpoint. A bunch of famous shills, including Tom Cruise, praised it as one of the greatest superhero films ever. Marred by pre-release controversy surrounding Ezra Miller assaulting people and kidnapping an autistic girl from her family. Opened to complete failure at the box office and mediocre reviews. Featured a tired old Michael Keaton becoming the real-life version of his character from Birdman and the Flash rescuing a bunch of flying CGI babies. It's story wasn't an adaptation of Flashpoint but just some shitty random bullshit and it's weird meta ending didn't reboot the DCEU in any way. Instead, it simply confused matters even further with George Clooney showing up as Batman for some reason. What the fuck was this movie!?
>Blue Beetle
No one saw this.
>Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
The final entry in the DCEU. A sad wet fart of a movie. Very clear that no one wanted to be involved in this. Not James Wan, not Jason Mamoa, not Amber Heard (whose presence in it was surrounded by controversy due to the Depp trial). Completely forgettable schlock that barely generated a profit at the box office despite being a Christmas season release. Final scene is Patrick Wilson eating a cockroach burger. A fitting end to the DCEU.

So there we have it. The DCEU (2013-2023). 10 years of hilarious bullshit. What a fucking ride it was. I can't even say I hated it. I'm kinda glad it happened. It generated a bunch of fond memories, funny memes, hilarious moments, heated discussions and earned its place in the annals of pop culture history.

BvS was scared of making Superman political. As in, actually holding a political position that people could intellectually disagree with (should I get involved in this political crisis or that, etc.). The politics of BvS is on Superman’s existence, not on what the obligations of a Superman might be. The movie is scared to alienate anyone, which is why it pussies out of the discussion with the Congressional bombining where Clark is expected to actually engage with the public (why Superman, a character intimately involved with journalism since the 30s, wouldn’t want to make a public statement is simply baffling to me). The extent to his involvement in the political realm was at the beginning of BvS when he took out the terrorists, but that was not even a principled consideration for Clark, he was only there because Lois was in danger. His entire worldview is simply Lois Lane, all his moral decisions revolve around Lois Lane (which he admits at the end of BvS when he tells him she is his world, and is reinforced when Superman falls into anti-life upon the death of Lois Lane in the Knightmare timeline), and it makes for a very flat character, especially because DCEU Clark and Lois is sauceless
>>
Sneeder wanted to be the director to put the death of Superman on the big screen, but didn't want any of the responsibility or commitment that came with it. So he rushed to the plot point at the expense of pretty much everything else.
>>
>>220497402

Its a war on competence.
Companies are run by incompetent people.
They see competent people as a threat to their standing.
They suppress competent people to be 'best one left'
Result is shit.
You often see a company with a few evil geniuses, surrounded by absolute morons who were allowed to survive.

If he understood the message then he chose to deliberately disregard and change it for his adaptation in order to make it a more standard, stock superhero movie, which is worse. It's kinder to him (and more on track with his demonstrated low IQ) to just assume he didn't get it.
