I always took this as Luke molesting his nephew. Notice Ben sees him as a monster and the lightsaber is fully erect

The entire sequel trilogy was just a vehicle for the kino that was TLJ and the conclusion to Luke’s Hero’s Journey.
>TFA all about finding Luke
>TLJ all about Luke and him coming back for one last purely defensive “fight” then vanishing forever
>TROS not about Luke at all and just does its own stupid thing because the sequel trilogy was always supposed to be about Luke and a next generation Skywalker (Kylo), which was what TLJ was all about
>>
>>220507683
Why didn't Luke just slice Ben's head off?

This would have:
a) Saved all Luke's students
b) Stopped Luke's jedi school or temple or whatever the fuck it was from being destroyed
c) Likely prevented the First Order from ever existing
d) Prevented Luke's own shameful downfall into the miserable alcoholic failure and shit-smelling cowardly hermit he immediately became
e) Prevented the Disney trilogy from going as horribly wrong as it did by choosing NOT to completely betray Luke Skywalker as a character for no particularly good reason

I mean sure it would've meant Luke decapitating his sister's kid but honestly all this shit is really Han and Leia's fault since they obviously failed Ben as parents with Leia preferring to LARP as a military commander and deadbeat Dad Han running away with his pet Wookie to be a worthless smuggler rather than simply raising his son to be a decent person whose obvious talents with the Force could then be used for good instead of just letting him become an incel school shooter pathetically simping over Palpatine's robot whoredaughter Ray Skyscraper

Indeed. The symbolism is undeniable and clearly represents Rian Johnson's own extensive childhood molestation by a trusted family member.

You’re correct. The imagery is suggestive of molestation. Even the placement of the lightsaber is meant to resemble a penis.

Bugs are too impersonal. Luke needed to feel every inch of his weapon as it penetrated the soft, supple yet inviting flesh of his sleeping teenage nephew. For midichlorian-related reasons.

For me, far and away the most interesting question is this. What Form of lightsaber combat did Luke intend to use to murder his sleeping nephew?

During the events of the OT, Luke received incredibly limited training, compared to what was available during the height of the Jedi order. It’s unlikely that Yoda or Obi Wan ever taught him anything more than the fundamentals of Form 1 Shii-Cho, along with some defensive velocities from Form 3 Soresu, and some basic acrobatics from Form 4 Ataru, both of which we briefly see Luke training in.

He personally witnessed Vader’s Form 5 Djem So, and seemed to wind up being somewhat influenced by it. But this was years after the temporary fall of Darth Sidious (Sheev Palpatine). By this time, Luke had access to lost Jedi and Sith holocrons and had met many former Jedi who came out of hiding (all of whom were good friends). By this point in the story, we can assume Luke was familiar with, without being expert in, all main forms.

I think we can reconstruct this from context clues. Let’s get the obvious out of the way.

It’s not Jar’Kai technique. Luke has elected only to use one single bladed lightsaber in both hands. Ben’s lightsaber is right there for the taking, and Luke clearly refuses to take it.
>>
>>220513079
Luke’s blade is ignited before the attack, so it can’t be Trakata or Form 0.

As he hasn’t constructed a curved hilt, and is using a two handed grip, it’s not Form 2 Makashi.

It’s also not held in reverse grip, so he isn’t using Form 5 Shien. Both of Luke’s feet are on the ground, despite the stationary target of Ben giving him the perfect opportunity to use acrobatic movement to add power to his strike and allow him to quickly cover the distance. He is not using Form 4 Ataru.

It could be Form 1 Shii-Cho. Luke has adopted a variant on the Shii-Cho opening guard. Unfortunately that’s a common engaging guard used in other forms, notably Darth Vader’s variant of Form 5 Djem So.

It’s probably not Form 3 Soresu. That’s a defensive form, and Luke has seized the initiative entirely by attacking a sleeping target.

It could be Form 5 Djem So. That form uses static footwork and physical strength plus leverage to demonstrate overwhelming power. Luke does attempt a double handed Sai Tok technique, which would be in line with Djem So’s philosophy of “peace through superior firepower.”

It could be Form 6 Niman. Niman is a mix of Forms 1 through 5, so it’s hard to be sure. It could be either variant of Form 7. Juyo or Vaapad. Vapaad most likely ended when Jedi Master Mace Windu fell out of a window. But Juyo uses anger to power unpredictable strikes, and you have to be angry to attack your sleeping nephew, which he will find unpredictable.

Luke's preferred form has always been Djem So, and the blow he intended to use against his sleeping nephew resembles the classic Falling Avalanche technique. As well, his opening stance was classic Form V. He clearly hoped to overpower the young boy through sheer aggression.
>>
>>220513102
However, Luke’s green lightsaber blade lets us know he spec’d into Consular. Without knowing if he chose to prestige, all we know is that Luke would not have learned Juyo (locked to the Guardian class) Niman (locked to the Sentinel class), or Shien/Djem So (also Guardian).

Due to these factors, as well as his opening guard, I believe it is most likely Master Luke Skywalker attempted to murder his Nephew Ben Solo with Form 1, Shii-Cho, also known as the Way of the Sarlacc.

Most likely this usage was influenced subconsciously by Luke’s encounters with his father’s personal interpretation of Form 5 Djem So. Luke needed to become physically stronger for their rematch, after all, and he ended up adopting several of Vader’s dueling mannerisms, particularly the falling avalanche combination he was about to unleash on Ben Solo before Ben ended their duel prematurely like a coward.

It’s also absolutely clear Luke was drawing on the Dark Side for an attack stat bonus, especially given he saw that Ben was asleep, which wasn’t the Jedi way and would have further infuriated him, leading him to reflexively draw on the Dark Side just as he needed to do to overpower his own father.

Unless anyone has any further suggestions, I suggest we all accept this interpretation as cannon.

I have no choice but to assume you were molested and/or are a molester and, thus, see everything as a molestation allegory.

>>
>>220513148
His opening stance is Form 1. You are perhaps thinking of Vader’s personal variant of Form 5 Djem so, which included heavy influence from both Shii-Cho, as seen by him engaging from a middle guard, which protected his life support apparatus, as well as Form 2 Makashi, as seen by his one handed usage of the weapon. Classical Djem So engages from a high guard, constantly threatening the falling avalanche.

As well all know, if a Jedi or Sith ever holds a saber 1 handed, they are using Makashi, unless they have a second saber in the other hand. Then, it’s Jar’Kai.

I do agree that it would be poetic that Luke would use a mix of his father’s variant of Djem So (minus the Makashi) plus Shii-Cho. It’s in character and it’s what we see on screen. I just need evidence, in the form of a well sourced Wookipedia article that he ever prestiged into being able to learn that Form.
>>
>>220507683
Luke was right for this
>>
>>220513233
The Juyo variant of Vaapad, and Shii-Cho, both heavily use one-handed strikes. The use of one arm builds greater momentum in the swing to murder sleeping children. Imagine the scene of Mace Windu killing Jango Fett, but Jango is an innocent child!
Further, it's never been clarified if Luke developed his fighting forms in this continuity. In Legends, his true preferred form was Strong Style, taking cues from Shii-Cho, Djem So, and Juyo for lumbering. overpowering blows. This comes at the cost of minding defense, which is unnecessary when you are the trusted caregiver of your intended target.

I was always under the impression that Mace Windu switched briefly into Makashi for the final strike on Fett. It’s why he stares Dooku down right afterwards, and why Dooku reacts with shock. Mace is saying, yeah, look what I picked up. Your advantage is gone old man.

I never liked the Jedi Knight games much, I always preferred KOTOR. The Fast Medium and Strong Styles always seemed an oversimplification compared to the fully fleshed out KOTOR/Fightsaber series of martial arts.

I could never hit anything with Strong Style last time I played Jedi Academy. But I do admit, I think even I could nail a sleeping target with it. That is intriguing.

Since /tv/ lacks basic media literacy to the point that nobody seems to be aware that we actually see this scenario play out three times in the movie (this vid has all three)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmprtkZHZC8

So I'll carefully explain how the movie presents two obviously biased accounts before showing what really happened

The first account is Luke's where an uncontrollably violent Kylo pulls the roof down on his head for no reason and Luke was never even holding a lightsaber (obvious bullshit)

The second (and most memeable) account is Kylo's version where a heavily armed Molester Luke displays an almost cartoonish murderous desire and Kylo is forced to defend himself against a crazed psychokiller with a gigantic glowing green boner

Then the third and final account is what actually happened and Luke finally taking responsibility for it (Luke didn't swing at Kylo, but simply by igniting his saber in the first place he failed his student). We're meant to understand that Luke and Kylo each start off telling bullshit versions that make them look like the victim - but only Luke is courageous enough to admit the truthful third version where he is finally honest about his mistake (thus experiencing tangible character growth.)

Bravo Nolan.

I'd go a step further and say the green lightsaber is reminiscint of Yoda's sexual trauma inflicted on Luke.
Yoda was
>a old man
>been alone for years by the point Luke meets him
>in a position of power over Luke

Not to mention being alone with a emotionally vulnerable boy living in a small enclosed space for months. Suddenly this late teen boy starts to have night terrors about his father? George was literally yelling it at us
