Remember when Mando was this cool lone gunman paired with a child by circumstance. He had some ragtag armor and a crusty ship with a rep as a good bount hunter. The show was a surprise hit, first season was literally comfy kino, adventure of the week with some sprinkling of something larger at play. As RLM even said..."a welcome relief from Star wars ".While it was unfortunate couldn't help themselves with season 2 and made it a cameo fest.. we had some closure. Djin had the fucking Darksaber and potential to be an important character to the larger uni....>Oh wait season 3 and the show is now about bo katan, she is the chosen one, Mando is actually there to serve her. He became a background character in his own showEven baby Yeed popularity suffered due to season 3 being terrible Lol now they are trying to double back and make this franchise and character cool again but nobody cares anymore and the movie is likely to underperfrom.What the fuck went wrong? How did they kill their momentum so hard??

>>220510411filoni, simple asfavreau had most of season 1 ironed out by himself on spec before he approached iger. season. the only episode that he didn't write was save and guess what, it was the lowest rated of the season. but dave is still lucasfilm so you can't just get rid of him and thus began the decline with book of boba fett and s3 and dave's bigger inputhe simply doesn't have the sauce. he's a lore/cartoon guy and that's his ceiling but he just doesn't translate to live action. thank god for andor giving something out of this disney era

The show was great when it was just him and he had uncertain moral character due to his background, in addition to the cool RPG motif of assembling an armor set with his warrior cult and exploring his past through introspection brought on from experiences outside. It all got torn down for the fuckin baby yoda. S3 was nothing but a merchandise commercial. I think what would have been a better approach was if they treated it something like Doctor Who or 007 where the person playing "The Mandalorian" changes between seasons. Maybe they face a deadly threat in the season finale and their fate is either explicitly dead or MIA, and then the next season follows a new different "Mandalorian". This would jive with the cult's creed thing that seeks to make everyone think the Mandalorian is one single person. Also obviously would have worked better in the case of using high profile actors like Pedro that can decide to flake out.
