Aesthetics are decent but it's still a bastardization of the Iliad. Just compare the pathos of Hector holding his baby son, while the audience knows both are doomed, to the film having him tell his wife about a secret escape passage so little Astyanax can get away safely.
People will pretend it's good because they saw it when they were 12 and need to react against Nolan casting Helen of Nairobi. But Nolan's Odyssey looks like it might stay closer to Homer in narrative.

its the best adaptation of the Iliad you're ever going to see on the big screen so accept it. for the Odyssey you have alternatives

That's the problem when you are trying to be edgy in your casting. It overshadows and taints all good decisions you made

it has nothing to do with being edgy. straight from the requirements for an Oscar:
>On-Screen Representation, Themes, and Narratives: At least one lead or significant supporting actor is from an underrepresented racial/ethnic group, or 30% of all actors are from underrepresented groups, or the storyline centers on an underrepresented group.
