>>220518778The Sons of Feanor will be BLACK KANGZ in the Silmarillion (adapted for modern audiences)Suddenly them killing innocent people to steal they jewels makes sense

20 years too late. After The Hobbit, is anyone still interested? Did anyone even watch more than 2 episodes of that Amazon slopshow?
>>220518778just make a movie about frodo banging elf bitches in valinor. call it Valifornication. there I just made you jews 100 billion dollars.
>>220518778I think the only way you could adapt the silmarillion is to turn it into a 4 part fake ken burns type documentary.
>>220519404You could make a tv show out of it. But after the slops of power I'd rather they didn't
>>220518778>adapt X>adapt Y>adapt>adapt>adaptHow about Hollywood gets writers who know how to write and who are creative, and then produces an original plot.
>>220519212>Did anyone even watch more than 2 episodes I watched 2 seconds of the first episode before canceling amazon prime. I can't even get 2 day shipping in my area so there was no point.
>>220519385YOU JUST KNOW
>>220518778Jackson's LotR is a gay ass movie.further more, he won't be able to pass the DEI injonctions this time.so no.

Black Beren and White Luthien will defeat MAGA Morgoth.
>>220518778>new original female elf addedIt needs to be black this time. Oh, and Luthien 'dated' a black human before (and after) Beren.
>>220518778The first part (Ainulindalë) would unironically be a hit as a musical

>>220518778Why couldn't they have let this happen when there was actually the slightest chance of it being goodJust about the only people I would trust to adapt it now are trigger, and they would still fuck it up a bit with too much sex appeal.
>>220518778>FilmsSo like 6? 8?
>>220519644wrong. beren will be a white beta while morgoth will be a black alpha while luthien is secretly horny for him
>>220519716the hobbit, which is way easier to adapt, was released at that timeframe and ended up being crap
>>220519781I still wonder how they fucked up The Hobbit so badly when it had much of the same cast and crewAlso it made too much fucking money, although at least a few people tuned out as it went along
>>220518778only way to do the Silmarillion justice is by a high budget 2D-animated movie that plays up the mythological feeling and completely refrains from any type of irony
>Gothmog strikes Fingon with an axe>Tactical nuke goes off>Pan over to Turgon>Damn...he gone. PULL BACK TOWARD THE HILLS!>Fingolfin fighting Morgoth>What's the matter? It's just a little prick. Man this blood's RANCID!
>>220519385DREAM OF VALIFOOORNICATIOOON
>oops rangz of black power didn't take off>better bring jackson back to make 11 movies starring white people in all the lead roles
>>220519385I never expected to see those two occupy the same space, crazy times we live in
People here told me they couldn't make a movie because they don't have the rights. Did the buy them or what?
>>220519861ever since Christopher tolkien died the estate has been more lax with adaptations and such
>>220519212>After The Hobbit, is anyone still interested?Any respect I had for Jackson's integrity died at that point. He's morally bankrupt and I don't trust him to not bow to the <<<modern audience>>>

>>220519545It is known
>>220519212I made it to the scene in the first episode where the not-hobbits are gorging themselves in a field of berries, and there is a closeup of the fat one with her face covered in berry goo drizzling down her chin, and I dropped it out of sheer disgust and annoyance.
>>220519811>I still wonder how they fucked up The Hobbit so badly when it had much of the same cast and crewWhen Del Toro dropped his adaptation, WB went to Jackson, who decided to start from scratch but WB didn’t push back the release date, so the pre-production was rushed. And IIRC they also insisted on it being more than 1 movie to try and recreate LotR’s lightning in a bottle.Pre-production on LotR took about 4.5 years in total. Pre-production on The Hobbit was about 1.5 years total. In the LotR’s case that left them a lot of time to get the scripts perfect, build the sets and costumes. For the Hobbit, everything was rushed and everything was "fixed in post" (ie ugly cgi).
please, god, let it stop. let LotR fade into obscurity once again
>>220520463I don't understand how Hollywood is still going at this pointVirtually nothing makes money anymore, but budgets still keep going up
>>220519385frodo baggins banging
>>220518778The LotR will likely forever remain my favorite film work of all time, but it was undeniably a fluke of timing, talent, and studio cooperation. The Hobbit (and King Kong) showed that Jackson isn’t infallible, and is honestly kind of shit without a ton of preproduction and planning.Girlboss War of the Rohirrim.Andy Serkis’ bizarre pro-communist version of Animal Farm killing any piddling interest in “The Hunt for Gollum” (not that anyone was exactly clamoring for it to start with).Stephen Colbert’s project being nothing more than a politically-driven fuck you to the Ellisons.Rangs of Power, while not related to Jackson, still dilutes and damages the overall brand.
>>220520301I watched that movie and it was so fucking bad the ONLY way Elijah would've signed up for it was if he could empty his balls in any hole he wanted for each day of filming.

>>220520009The home video market existed and was thriving back then.
>>220520593Sasha has literally never let a man finish in her pussy
Christopher should've immediately sold the rights before Hollywood went full retard. Of course another Tolkien would sellout later on.
>>220519811It was rushed out the door with no preproduction. No time to revise the script, no time to make proper sets or scout locations or pre-viz shit until it was perfect. Substituted the methodical, painstaking process of the OT with the same lazy "film on a soundstage, fix it in post" shit every other film does now. And that's mostly the studio's fault. They wanted their money right fucking now instead of the couple of extra years it would have taken to do it properly and so they chased Del Toro off and told Jackson to just fast-forward through the process because he'd already done it once, how hard could it be? And he agreed because they were trying to fuck him out of the money he was still owed for the OT and him co-producing the new films was the only way to get paid outside of a lawsuit. It was basically like doing one last half-assed shift at your job so you boss didn't withhold severance pay.But the one thing I do blame Jackson for is letting his wife run amok and not bothering to edit her increasingly ridiculous fanfiction. 50% of the Hobbit's bloated runtime is just shit she pulled out of her ass, which is why it's so awful. She wasn't adapting Tolkien any more, just writing her own content and pasting it on top of the actual story. And he never reigned her in. Those films did not need to be 3 fucking hours each, the studio would have been fine with 3 90 minute films. But he just filmed whatever she shart out. Probably because he didn't give much of a fuck by that point
nobody trusts Jackson anymore after the hobbit and the Silmarillion is nowhere near as popular as lotr is
>>220519861The based gatekeeper died and the slop-churn for money began a while ago. The Tolkien Estate doesn't care for the integrity of the stories near as much anymore.
>>220519385based frodo
>>220520257It's post '10, it does.
>>220520659Absolutely true, but I’ll play Frans advocate for the second part of your post. The studio wanted the king run time and post release sales of extended version just like the LOTR trilogy had and made him plod out the runtime despite also rushing him as though lightning in a bottle could be shot with a rewrite and finished in post. I remember following production news when they were shooting back when Azog and Bolg were still played by humans in prosthetics and Jackson just wanted to use some bits from Unfinished Tales to stretch the runtime while still being loyal to the subject material.
>>220519894The thing nobody accounts for is the fact that making the OT broke him mentally. People assume because it was such a tremendous success it was all gravy but it was still the most prolonged and laborious shoot in film history. AND he was editing the extended edition DVDs between films. By the time he was finishing ROTK the cracks were showing. The theatrical cut of ROTK is kind of brutal. So many clearly rushed decisions. And he hasn't been right since. He made King Kong 3 fucking hours because he couldn't get back into normal pacing, made The Lovely Bones, which everyone immediately forgot, kinda sorta had something to do with Tintin and then made a fucking documentary. And that's it, aside from the obligatory LOTR cash-in crap. He had the trajectory of another Spielberg or Cameron and now he's that guy who keeps coming back to the same well because he apparently has no other ideas. LOTR was a legendary accomplishment but it might have been a pyrrhic victory for Jackson. The guy who made Heavenly Creatures (still his best film if you ask me) is long gone.
>>220520919>The studio wanted the king run timeThe last fucking thing studios want is longer productions and fewer showings per day. Runtime creep is 100% a director thing. No doubt they wanted extended editions but I will never believe that the studio went to Jackson and said "write an hour and half of padding per film, the theatrical cuts need to be 3 hours apiece." He just couldn't edit things properly after his experience with the OT. Just like how Universal didn't want King Kong to be 3 hours but he wanted all the backstory and an hour on the boat.
>>220518778I would only hope they learned from the Rangs of Powah and the Hobbit movies that they should just try and adapt the thing as best they can rather than try and write it. They are not Tolkien, they do not get to do that nor can they.
>>220518778This fuck has gone off the deep end with his left wing politics. Also they are lining up Colbert for a possible movie but its not approved yet.Our only hope is they hunt for Golum fails so fucking hard that they shelve all of this. Focus all attention on shitting on hunt for Golum.
>>220519212Its coming back for a third season. Its bad beyond comprehension but Amazon does not want to admit its a failure and they have enough toliet paper sales and server rentals to soak the costs.
>>220521172>hollywood>learning >trying>2026they'll double down and say fuck you give us your money anyways
>>220521234>>220519212Lawd Dem Rangz would run five seasons even if not a single person on earth watched a single second of itBecause Bezos dropped One Billion Dollars on that shit UP FRONTBy far the most expensive television production of all time
early to mid-2000s HBO could've done it, it's pointless to even try now
>>220519716It never had the chance. The main trilogy was some kind of golden moment. They made the hobbit after and the company forced it into three movies and cut budget it ended up being trash.Dont be sad that its over be happy that it happened.

>>220519824>high budget 2D-animated movieI now want to see an anime-style Silmarillion
>>220518778in this day and age ? fucking horrible ideathe Silmarillon is on another level of "inadaptability" than LOTR (I think they can have good adaptations actually, but it'd require immense production costs, time, talent and good faith, which is unimaginable in current jewllywood).Imagine the money Amazon spent on their dogshit show used adequatly by passionate people that respect the source material.
>>220518778Don´t do it. LOTR only worked because everyone agreed to be as faithful as possible to Tolkien´s vision. The Hobbit failed because he had to compromise with suits and their shitty demands and it´s going to be the same here because directors have lost power over the past decades. Specially for expensive as shit projects directors are now forced to compromise on everything for the sake of appealing to the lowest possible denominator. It´s meaningless to make those movies like this.
>>220519212Jackson had nothing to do with Rings of Power, though.
>>220520659Jackson also had basically an ultimatum, in that either he could do it, or they'd get someone else to fuck it even worse. There was no winning.
Man, quality has literally never recovered after the writer's strike.
