Movies that had been hyped when they were released but are completely forgotten today

>>220522213The King's Speech (2010)Roma (2018)and others I have forgotten
i enjoyed lady bird
>>220522213Everything Everywhere All At Once>>220522418And that's a good thing. Let women have womenmovies and let men have menmovies

>>220522535im not going to call you any hurtful names, anonbut its 26have a nice day
>>220522213Posting the obvious one, that even /tv/ fell for
>>220522518not everything has to be bait; some people must be retarded for real
>>220522213The Blind Side
>>220522213>>220522490I still like this movie it's the best of Greta Gerwig's directed films
>>220522213Ladybird is low-key good, I still remember it>>220522556I mean obviously it's a reddit chungus movie
>>220522213any best picture winner
>>220522454>>220522535You are getting closer saar but XXVI = 26I think you’re reading VI as IV.In Roman numerals, if a smaller number comes after a larger number, you add it:VI = 5 + 1 = 6XI = 10 + 1 = 11But if a smaller number comes before a larger number, you subtract it:IV = 5 − 1 = 4IX = 10 − 1 = 9So:XXVI = 10 + 10 + 5 + 1 = 26XXIV = 10 + 10 + (5 − 1) = 24
>>220522556You have to put it in context. It’s the best movie in years. & that’s a sad statement
>>220522213
>>220523377This shit was so overrated. It has a cool production gimmick but that's all it had going for it imo. And I like slowburn art films and stuff, this was just clearly more about the allure of the process than the actual narrative in anyway. Which is sometimes how real arthouse works but this didn't feel anything like that, it just felt dull and the lead actor was way better as a kid than a YA. He mostly sucked.
>>220523377Nobody even watched it; it's a neat idea, but not enough to sell it.>>220522515EEAAO was so forced as "real cinema" just because it wasn't capeshit or Fast and Furious. It's garbage, just because it doesn't have RDJR or Vin Diesel doesn't mean it's high art.
>>220522213Hereditary
>>220523945I still see Hereditary talked about a lot on here man, it's one of the more influential horror films of the 21st century I think.
>>220524273You're right. I just read the subject title and not the comment. For me, it was forgettable and not a horror movie, but I know I'm in a small minority who feels that way.
>>220523083
>>220524441The first act is like a really bleak prestige drama then the second act is exposition and the third act is shit your pantsI saw it in a packed theater and it was the only time I wasn't enraged by how loud all the niggers were, we were all shitting our pants together at the end and it was a fun experience. Also someone else in the theater hit their wife during the movie and that was kinda kino
>>220522213Lady Bird is a good film.
>>220522213Why did critics go apeshit over this again? It was a perfectly fine movie, but one of the most average coming of age stories I have ever seen. Eighth Grade from the year after was much better and I never saw the same kind of praise for that.
>>220524676Well it was Gerwig's directorial debut and she said it is largely autobiographical so maybe that has something to do with it. Also Lady Bird is great and Greta is a treasure and I want to fuck her.
>>220522213>Spoopiest movie ever!>Actual dogshit.
>>220522213Mid90s. Jonah Hill was supposedly some visionary but the movie sucked and nobody liked it
>>220524547It's also one of the few horror movies that gets better with a second viewing because when you know what's really going on there are more things to look for. It's a shame the director died directly after making that movie, we'll never know if he was capable of following it up with something equally as amazing.
>>220522213i love lady bird and watch it around christmas all the time.
>>220522213Timmy popping her cherry and then not giving a flying fuck about her was the only kino moment in that movie.
>>220524999I love Midsommar a ton but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. Beau is kinda okay and I never saw the other one he made. Compelling digits tho
Jordan Peele's entire filmography.
>>220522213>>220522213All of Kubrick's work except Full Metal Jacket , Dr. Strangelove, Spartacus , The Killing and Paths of Glory. I never watched Johnny Lyndon or Eyes Wide Shut
>>220522213seven oscars for this garbage
A movie with a pretty girl and cool cover. oh it better win an oscar!!
>>220525012he did that irl too
>>220522561Boring feel good movies about race are a good example
>>220523945>reddit in the title>the movie is actually redditBravo Aster!
>>220524733>Gerwig's directorial debut>largely autobiographical So what?
>>220523377This.>>220525448Oscar wins and nominations are a bad metric. Some absolute kino and slop was nominated and won over the years. Gravity was good especially if you put it up against all the space movies we got over the last ~15 years like Interstellar, Martian, Ad Astra, Project Hail Mary, etc.
I can't think of any good movies past the year 2000's desu. cinema has a genre has gone straight to shit.
Most of these lauded movies are just designed to push the message of the Current Year. They all age like shit as a result.
>>220522213I loved this movie and it feltso intimate that it felt like I was watching scenes from her diary. It kinda made me uncomfortable in a good way. Also only good role chamolet was ever in because he played a stupid pretty boy aka himself
>>220522213I liked lady Bird ackshually
>>220525947it wasnt bad
>>220522213everything out of hollywood and on netflix of the last fifteen years
