Just that he made his wish without good consideration. If he had wished for her to love him only a healthy, positive amount, it would've been fine. But he basically put no limit on it at it literally shattered her psyche. She was having genuine bpd moments because her own brain couldn't handle it. Her obsession with the cat was a sign of this, it kept reeling back to thay

The way the wish works is that it creates this new personality inside her which overrides her original one, but the original personality that doesn't love him is still there. So her true self is trapped inside and struggling against the wish and it leads to a whole bunch of violent, gross, and self destructive behavior. She has moments where she suddenly freaks out as the original personality tries to seize control of the body only to get suppressed again and these get more violent and desperate as the film progresses. In the beginning she occasionally screams stuff like "IT'S NOT ME" but later it amps up to her actively trying to kill herself on a few occasions by smashing herself in the face with bottles and similar shit, only to snap back to her wish personality where she apologizes for upsetting him.It doesn't help that he doesn't just wish that she loved him but that she loved him "more than anyone else in the whole world" so the wish personality is completely unhinged, but also fighting against her true self which is going insane because it's being tortured by the spell (at one point he calls the wish customer service line and the guy on the phone asks if he'd "like to speak to Nikki?" and you can hear the real her on the phone tormentedly screaming).

"Be careful what you wish for" has been done loads of times, "monkeys paw wishes", "evil genies granted cursed wishes", "forcing people to love you through magic or potions". It's all been done before. There's nothing new under the sun. Still an idea well executed can be worth seeing and Inde Navarrette does a good job of acting very insane. There's a couple of points where she's screaming right in Michael Johnston's face that are pretty intense.
