>>

>the CIA funded cartoon was KINO

inevitably migashits are going to complain that its anti-trump propaganda.
>>
I would bet everything I have that instead of making it a 1 to 1 adaptation to the book and a critique on communism and power corrupting, they co opt it to make sure that it tells you that the pigs are racist and sexist and anti trans/gay people
>>220523653
it will be even more on the nose with this kind of thing
>>
Communism is barely anything anymore so it makes sense to shift the story to big tech modern capitalism.
>>
>>220523949
We already have the Lorax for that.

it was always about authoritarianism. Orwell was an anti soviet a left winger. The soviets fucked him over when he was fighting for POUM anarchists in the spanish revolution.
Americasn find this stoopid hard to understand
>>
>>220523949
It’s all about power leading to corruption they shows you how the government will use propaganda against you. It also showed the warning signs of socialism which is if everyone isn’t working then it’ll lead to a ruling class. Considering socialism being on the rise Animal farm is a great story to read for people same as 1984 with the warning signs of nationalism leading to facism.

why can't Americans understand that Orwell was a left winger and massively so? Are they stupid?

He didn't write Animal Farm or 1984 as part of a renunciation of his left wing beliefs. He wrote them as he viewed the Soviet Union as a perversion of marxism.

China moved away from communism in 1978 and and became a bizarre mish mash of state totalitarianism and free-market economics.
Unfortunately for the human race, their experiment has been extraordinarily successful, so we can all expect to live in states that inhibit our individual rights in the future
>>
>>220524810
Why do you think we don’t believe he was a leftwinger? We just don’t believe he was an extreme left wing basket case.
>>
>>220524428
>the warning signs of nationalism leading to facism
The problem is 'I want my country to continue to exist, not be flooded with Third World savages' is ultra-Nazi right-wing nationalism to you.
>>
>>220524952
but he was an extreme left winger. He wasn't a democratic socialist or anything like that. He fought and killed for POUM. Anarchists. His view of a just world was something akin to anarcho-syndicalism. Thats not something you get from the ballot box.
>>
>>220524810
Lmao have you read Animal Farm? It's clear from the jump that he does not believe that the ideals of socialism survive first contact. In fact it's literally what the fucking short story (takes less than an hour to read) clearly opines. It's also clear throughout the book that Orwell knows there are true believers and honest folks, but they are just fodder for the cause. Literally the most loyal believer in the book gets sent to the glue factory.

>The Spanish war and other events in 1936-37 turned the scale and thereafter I knew where I stood. Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it.

He described himself as a democratic socialist after the war. He didn't believe in a revolutionary "vanguard," as he thought it would inevitably become a permanent oligarchy. He was also very skeptical of bloody revolutions and supported Labour.

The POUM wasn't anarchistic, it was Trotskyist. Even though they fought with the Anarchists and were aligned, they theoretically had very opposing views of what would happen after the war.

Despite fighting with the POUM, Orwell didn't consider himself Trotskyist or even Marxist. He intended to join the Popular Front in Spain and only joined the POUM by chance when he got there. He claims at the time he didn't understand the difference between the POUM, the Popular Front, or the CNT–FAI, and was confused by the profusion of acronyms.
He said he just wanted to fight Fascism. Some people think he was a Trotskyist because he fought for POUM and portrayed the Trotsky parallel positively in Animal Farm, but he also has said that the Soviet Union was already totalitarian under Lenin/Trotsky and that Trotsky might have turned out just as brutal as Stalin if he had not lost the power struggle, even though he had a more interesting mind.
