i was on holiday in Turkey when this came out. every bar had a pirate VHS copy playing it on repeat all day long. some places had hundreds of people crammed inside, silently transfixed on this shitty camrip on a tiny CRT TV.never seen anything like it since. all events feel too online/manufactured nowadays. the last time anything felt remotely organic was the Lost finale.

If Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith had been good, people would have looked back on TPM as a solid, world building first instalment. As it is, it's the only decent prequel and I watch it about once a year. Liam Neeson is great. Pod race is awesome. Music is awesome. Location shooting and sets are awesome. Art design is awesome.
