I'm glad the general public has finally recognized RotS as the best in the series
>>
The problem was that the public expected straightforward popcorn entertainment in the style of the original trilogy. They didn't understand that George was doing something more cerebral and explorative with the prequels. But now, after too many years, people have come to appreciate his vision.

This
The OT is retroactively so boring compared to the PT. "Le ebil empire that nukes planets for the lulz", "the Emperor is just a dumb evil man who has no motivations besides being evil", "Yoda and Obi-Wan are perfect (even though they lie to Luke", etc etc
The only interesting part is the Skywalker story. Everything else is retarded pulp that 3yo clap to. EU and Disney novels had to retroactively add depth to the OT in order to make it as interesting as the political downfall of the Republic or the corruption of the Jedi or Anakin's fall from grace in the PT, in fact Lucas himself wanted to rectify a lot of it in Underworld before it got canned

George did a shitty and boring political drama with Darth Vader's origin story tacked on like a side note, when it should have been the opposite and interesting
They transferred you Rian Last Jedit celebrate our subversion shills over here now, huh

>shitty and boring political drama with Darth Vader's origin story tacked on like a side note, when it should have been the opposite and interesting
Anakin's fall is the central aspect of the PT, not tacked on, you retard. The politics are kino, way better than the OT's retardation of "yeah let's nuke Alderaan cause we're super duper evil", and they have actual layers of meaning. And it's also a shakespeare tragedy, Lucas managed to make three things work better than the OT's simplistic scifi slop
Of course you dumb niggers don't get it, you just wanted more pewpew asteroid field nonsense to coom. You probably loved TFA lmao, it's exactly what you wanted
>Ruin Johnson
Moron, TLJ isn't deep. It's just Rian fucking over everything in Star Wars because he hates Star Wars. His "subversions" amount to Luke hating the Jedi for no reason and the bad guys winning because the heroes are morons.

Star Wars was sold/introduced as a shitty critique of Dune, but Georgieboy already had the originstory in mind, because he wanted to explore the source material head on in a way that Dune pretended not to cover.
James Cameron also came along after watching Star Wars and decided to write Avatar to cover the story in a similarly deep sci-fi manner as George, but detatched from the baggage of being a stageplay Dune parody.

Movie is good but George's philosophy is awful. Just look at what Paul Duncan got from him, George believes that caring about family members is hecking evil and possessive, that Jedi kidnapping kids (but with muh consent) is A-OK and that it was all Anakin's fault
The issue isn't the films, it's that George is a bumbling hippy retard and his philosophy is antihuman, globalist bullshit. Palpatine was right.

Avatar has nothing to do with Dune, it's basically Pocahontas in space except with even less depth. Just "colonialism bad" and "europe bad"

George openly said that he's movies are for 12 year olds. So I don't know why people keep saying the prequels are cerebral, thought provoking classics. They are the same low brow popcorn flicks as the originals. Children's movies in essence.
>>
it's the best film, middling movie, worst flick.

Return of the Jedi is overhated by “fans” who take everything good it did for granted despite the fact it had by far the best ending, villains, fights, and redemption arc in the whole series. Also the Ewoks are not bad and them using knowledge of the terrain to defeat a technologically superior force is a tale as old as time.
>>
>>220537568
because we're no longer 12 and we can read beneath the surface? people were saying this AT THE TIME

Again you are taking a lowbrow commercial children's movie and placing far greater artistic merit then it has. You are constructing an idealized version of what you want it to be instead of what it is. George is openly telling you its just a popcorn flick for kids, he isn't giving secret, coded messages designed for true connoisseurs that the commoners can't figure out. He's telling you "It's just a popcorn flick, don't overthink it".

women ruined star wars.

i'm not pulling some 'my interpretation' or 'death of the author's nonsense here. i think George Lucas intended this stuff.

dude's best film is still THX-1138. yeah he sold out and became more 'toyetic' over time, he also knows how to tell an intelligent story. i don't see why people act like he's a moron making dumb dumb films for kiddies. i don't give a shit about the sword fights or space battles any more. i'm nearly 40.

>>220534355
Sure, if by "general public", you mean "retarded zoomers".

Yeah. Look at all these twelve year olds.

The reality is george lucas has no idea why star wars was successful and deeply resents that fact.
>>
>>220534548
The public wanted good movies and got the prequels instead.
>>
>>220537568
It will take your entire brain to figure out how the tradians from planet trade, a member of the galactic republic, blockading a random planet, also a member of the galactic republic, to protest taxation of trade by the galactic republic, who has no capacity to enforce taxation due to having no military, makes any sense at all. So the prequels are quite cerebral.

>George believes that caring about family members is hecking evil and possessive
the problem very clearly is that his strong attachment makes it so he cannot deal with loss. That's why he killed a bunch of kids when his mom died.
>that Jedi kidnapping kids (but with muh consent) is A-OK and that it was all Anakin's fault
very little in star wars was ultimately anakin's fault alone. It was the jedi's fault for taking a kid who already grew up and experienced a normal childhood not being indoctrinated by their cult into their cult, knowing full well that his lack of indoctrination put him at risk of being compromised by their enemies. They did it because anakin was special, and everyone told him he was special and meant for great things, but then the inherent suspicion they had of him due to him not being properly indoctrinated also made them distrustful of him. This distrust is what made them pass him up for important missions and promotions, which obviously massively clashed with them also constantly saying that he's the super awesome chosen one who will save the galaxy.
The jedi were ultimately the architects of their own demise by fumbling every step of raising the chosen one to be the true hero of the republic.
He ultimately was the true hero of the republic but it took Luke to get him there, not Yoda or Obi Wan or any of the other old jedi.

No, because as an enlightened individual, I'd rather see my main characters float around an asteroid field and a bunch of empty white hallways for an hour and a half.
