the original plans for doctor strange 2, which kind of sounds like it would've been a rip off of strange & doom: triumph & torment, where instead of doctor strange and doctor doom going to hell, it would've been strange and mordo going into the dream dimension to fight nightmarebut that got shit-fucked by marvel and the original director left, and by the time raimi stepped in, he didn't know any better and was like "sure, a wanda movie, whatever"
Just one of these 45 dead-end plots in the MCU.

Can’t have too many sorcerers when you’re grinding ranked in Kamar-Taj at 3am.Real answer is they just dropped it like every other Phase 3 stinger that didn’t test well with the “multiverse go brrrr” committee. Mordo hunting wizards requires continuity and follow-up. Much easier to just say “eh, he’s out there somewhere” and then wheel him in for a 12-second cameo in Secret Wars where he gets obliterated by CGI dust.MCU moment.
