How would you have made the Disney sequels?
>>220535999I'd ask Lucas to write a basic outline for the three movies and then give that to someone who can actually write proper characters. Then hire James Cameron to direct the three films so he would stop making shitty Avatar films
>>220536080he did, he wanted to make it about kids
>>220535999The twins. It was that easy.
>>220535999Bollywood style.
>>220535999Luke doesn't diePalpatine doesn't returnThat's like 50% work done right here
>Empire and Rebels/Republic kept fighting for 15 years after RotJ.>Empire is pushed back to a tiny enclave ruled by a Council of Moffs in the Outer Rim.>They wont surrender, Republic wont sign peace, a long term ceasefire with a demiliterized zone between both realms (like Korea) is maintained.>Film begins with a damaged Imperial corvette blasting out of hyperspace above a planet inside the DMZ, being chased by a Star Destroyer. The Star Destroyer attempts to tractor it, but the corvette self destructs.>All of this is obverved by a Republic probedroid monitoring the DMZ.>Senator Leia Organa wants to know what is up, Navy Intelligence dismisses it as a failed defection - and as it occured in the DMZ they cannot send a ship without first having complex negotiations with the Imperials who would naturally refuse.>She seeks the counsel of retired elderly Admiral Ackbar, observing the holotapes he observes that the corvette maneuvers in a particular way to block one side from the Star Destroyers view before self destructing, and wonders if an escape pod was launched and the destruction was to conceal this.>They both wonder why Navy Intelligence would miss this, and if the Star Destroyer figured it out too.>She goes to her brother Grand Master Skywalker to investigate.>Long story short, he finds on the planet a lone survivor, a !notRei female Imperial officer, sent by one of the Moffs with intelligence of a growing plot within the Imperial remnant to restart the war. And Imperials on planet searching for her too.>With - nani!? - Sith leadership. That's half a film right there.Borrows elements of the EU. Continues Lucas pottery with the ship being chased. Puts the original characters at the centre instead of walk ons supporting nobodies, tries to come up with a logical background and plot instead of Abbrams mystery box
they needed a foundation completely separate from anything to do with the original trilogy. the first movie should have introduced a new cast, set the plot in motion, and had lots of interactions between the characters before even secondary characters like chewbacca or r2 and threepio showed up. these characters also needed a better conflict to be engaged in than yet another fucking death star
>>220536349besides that they also needed to properly reckon with the passage of time and what the galaxy would realistically be like after decades without invalidating the heroes' victory at the end of the OT. the first order is indistinguishable from the empire, as if the war never ended, and shit like "somehow palpatine returned" is rightly mocked. there needed to a new threat apart from the imperial remnant or yet another sith lord.
>>220535999An adaptation, looser, of Crimson Empire would've worked as a nice periphery story like Rogue One.
>>220536325Neat, would watch. A million times more interesting than "dude empire and rebellion AGAIN haha"
>>220536325>sent by one of the Moffsc-can we get a Loyalist and Rogue Imperial civil war?
>>220536685I would imagine it is just that one Moffand that the rest of the council would be wiped out by a Moff aligned with the Sith and then assumes direct control of the Imperial Remnant
