We are all horrors comedies now?
>>
>>220537090
Because humans are stupid. Real life IS a black comedy.
>>
>>220537119
so why isn't every movie a comedy then?
>>
all timing is identical, from horror to drama to action to comedy.
>>
We live in a post-Trump world
Reality is dark enough, we need humor to keep going

Horror as a genre is dead. You have to watch these kinds of films in a big, dark theater, which no one goes to anymore.
>>
>>220537383
I did exactly that last week when I went to see The Mummy
>>
>>220537090
Horror and comedy have always been mashed together, it's just usually that the comedy is at the beginning, where as the comedy comes in halfway through Barbarian. Justing Short wins again
>>
>>220537383
What about a black room home alone at night
>>
>>220537090
what's the difference
>>
lack of knowledge of characters (few char studies, etc), so all situations become comic when you don't know the reality of your characters.

I saw Weapons in a theater. The guy next to me kept screaming “AAAAAARGHH HOLY FUCK HOLY FUCK FUCK FUCK AAAAAAAAAAH NO NO NO NOOO FUUUUUUUUCK AAAAAAH” every time something even slightly tense or scary happened. If that wasn’t annoying enough, at the start of every scene he would tell his girlfriend what would happen in the scene beforehand based on a scene by scene synopsis or something that he had on his phone. At one point he even said “oh they say you can go pee now” and his girlfriend left to pee, and indeed there were no scares during that bit.

Welcome to the modern moviegoing experience
>>
>>220537480
lmao was he black
>>
>>220537551
No, both him and his girlfriend were white.
Perhaps I should note that this happened in Europe, but the guy and his girlfriend were from the United States
>>
>>220537576
Clearly he was trying his best to live up to the obnoxious american stereotype.
>>
>>220537551
Sounds like something a puerto rican or dominican would do desu
>>
watching WEAPONS a second time, i couldnt help but relate to han solo character. getting AIDS, sleeping with a drunk whore behind her ex, working with her father, its all so... life like.
>>
>>220537090
comedy has been commonplace in horror since forever, especially in slashers. you're a genre tourist.

Horror movies often have a ridiculous premise and require the audience to play along and suspend disbelief. If you refuse to do that then the movie becomes a comedy because you're watching some retarded movie about an actor in a plastic suit chasing people around with a bunch of shitty shaky cam and jump cuts.

The only good way for horror to make money for since the 80s is by being funny or at least silly.
The main thing is always the goofy shit. Nightmare on Elm Street, Leprechaun, Chucky, Friday the 13th. There are very few exceptions. Even today movies like Terrifier go goofy.
Horror as a genre was pretty much dead until A24 resurrected it and turned horror into 2deep5u badly made art student crap filmed in bright locations.
Weapons simply took the goofyness of older horror and filmed it like an A24 movie. You can expect all horror to be goofy 80s or A24, or a mix of both.

What a shit take. If you are talking about the experience, horror movies are meant to be enjoyed alone after nightfall. Every other way of watching them has a different purpose of just enjoying horrorkino, like getting laid, making light of it with your friends, etc.
If you are talking about the financial viability, horror movies are the only ones still making good profit in theaters.

She’s alright.

My theater was full watching wolverine shepherding sheep
>>
>>220537090
i will never watch those 2 flicks

>now
Evil Dead was horror comedy. Texas Chain Saw Massacre was horror comedy. Nightmare on Elm Street was horror comedy. Child's Play was horror comedy.
And so on. Out of the big horror franchises/names, only F13th and Halloween took themselves seriously.
>>
>>220537090
Justin Long's role alone makes Barbarian a comedy. Horror is the ultimate escapism genre in Hollywood. Even Terrifier movies rely on a gory Mr. Bean character to draw casuals. If I don't hear them laugh at least once in the theater, I suspect somethin went wrong. But I don't remember that happened during Longlegs so it's not a hard rule.

>Texas Chain Saw Massacre was horror comedy.
The sequel was
>Nightmare on Elm Street was horror comedy.
Only after the second movie
>>

Halloween is among the most serious famous horror franchises, but they still had the goofy cops in the original continuity and they practically remade them in the Blumhouse trilogy. Horror is ripe for comedy which is why they are making another Scary Movie which spoof thhe Smile movies, which are pretty damn grim on their (smiling) face.
>>
You know those two movies are made by the same person right. The guy from the WKUK who started in comedy. It seems like you just don't like the director. Still plenty of horror movies.

If you keep catching bad fish change where you fish.
>>
>>220537359
You shouldn't lab your shitty bluesky/Twitter posts on here you know.
You're only going to get, rightly, called a faggot

Flat as a board but has some quality girlish charm when she wants to.
