I watched the first season and it's one of the worst shows I've ever seen and from the fan feedback it seems like season 1 is supposed to be the ''good season.''
Everything about the show is awful. Terrible acting, story that makes no sense, it's all juvenile nonsense. Main actor is the least talented nepobaby loser. There is zero sense of any kind of cohesion, any story being told. Events are completely disconnected from the setting and what came before. Characters have no motivations and it's impossible to even understand what they are doing. Like the heroes are supposed to be crime fighters but it all devolves into them being a Marvel movie parody, like they only exist to make movies and they are the superstars of the world, just celebrities, but also no one knows who they are so they can just walk around in public and no one has heard of them, because the ''we make movies'' scenes only exist as a reference to Marvel, not an actual thing that happens. But then the heroes are just evil psychopaths who only kill people and they do it publicly, but no one cares because news segments where they talk about them being killers and rapists only exist for the viewer to see, no one on the show acknowledges that it exists, because it doesn't exist. Then it just gets LOLSORANDOM degenerate, like every person with superpowers is just a sex freak and they all go to the same exact club to have gay sex.
It's bizarre. And the fucking filmmaking, the music, some of the worst you've ever seen. It's just dead silent with no sense of progression. Random shit just happens and is never relevant again. Characters die but it's played as a joke, but then they randomly decide that it's serious show and start caring that someone died. Characters get raped and it's a complete joke, but they want to portray the raped character as having trauma, but then also want the rapist to be a cool funny character.

SB had just put him in a deadly position the previous episode, and despite him giving himself up after HL got out, HL didn't kill him. Season 1 seemed like there was a plan for a good story. Once Season 2 said fuck all that, I just chose to enjoy it for the humor and violence. Deep and Homelander are great actors. Gen V has a surplus of talent that outshines the main crew. it's consumable slop. the writing is pretty bad but there are a lot entertaining stuff on the show. I think Anthony Starr, Karl Urban and Ackles are doing a lot of heavy lifting with their acting. In the last episode actors from the spin-off show showed up and you can immediately tell the giant gap in their acting ability. and I think that's a big reason why that other show failed.
