I went to see Obsession last night. I suspect it's a great movie, but I can't be sure because my local cinema seems to unable to do their fucking job and turn the lights completely off when they're supposed to. Instead they left them in the "slightly dimmed but still on so you can find your seat" mode that's supposed to be used for ads.
As a result the movie looked like shit and wasn't very scary at all.
>inb4 shouldve walked out
I told staff right away and for the first ~20mins I was naively hoping they'd fix it. Then I was too invested and decided to stay like the cuck I am. I regret it now and If this shit happens again I'm walking out immediately.
This is a major chain not an indie place. And it's not the first time, their google reviews are full of complaints about this. They don't care since there's no competition nearby.

Any anons work in digital projection? What could cause this? I thought all the equipment was fully automated nowadays, how can they still manage to randomly fuck it up?

>Any anons work in digital projection?
I used to.
>What could cause this?
Laziness.
>I thought all the equipment was fully automated nowadays
It's automated, but someone still has to create the programming schedule for the day and include the dimming of lights in the automated sequence.

Holy desouling

This almost happened to me once in the past year or so. I forget which film, but fortunately they turned off the lights when I told an employee.

Thanks, so it IS the employees' fault then and not just broken equipment. I'll try to complain but I have the feeling it's going to be impossible to get this further than an L1 customer service person.

theaters nationwide are doing this because they'd rather diminish your viewing experience than deal with the liability of some idiotic child or brown tripping in the dark. at best you maybe get a free movie voucher

>This is a major chain not an indie place
that's your problem
indie places still run out of passion
major chain is just mcdonalds level "not my problem" employees
