I watched Puglasari yesterday. Remarkably good given the circumstances, oddly moving and possibly even slightly subversive. Kim Jong-Il's idiosyncratic strategy of kidnapping directors pays dividends. Between that, the women's sunglasses, platform shoes and "the battle suit", also running his own death camps, he might have been the ultimate auteur producer.
