Paul W.S. Anderson is a genuine visionary who can distinguish, generally, good ideas from bad ideas, and every single attempt to continue franchises without his involvement has been worse for it.
>Mortal Kombat
>Alien vs. Predator
>Resident Evil
Even Death Race fell off pretty hard without his direct involvement.

MK1 was truly lightning in a bottle. Even as a kid I was immensely disappointed with MK: Annihilation. I dismissed his Resident Evil movie when it first released, but I watched it 20 years later and really enjoyed it for what it was. They don't make 'em like that anymore. But you can tell Event Horizon was obviously fucked over by the studio, too bad they never saved the director's cut.
