For me, Invincible has one of the worst settings, and it’s one of the main reasons why I hate Western comic books.Three words: soft magic system. You see, in DC and Marvel, it makes sense (kind of) that characters have such varied powers because they came from different series written by different people. Since they’re published by the same company, they share a universe. That’s why there’s a clash between the realistic, gritty Punisher and the mythic Thor or the cosmic Shi’ar Empire. But in Invincible, there’s no such thing. The reason we have Superman rip-offs, characters with magic powers, demons, etc., is because the author wanted to emulate the entire DC and Marvel setting in one single series. There’s no main focus or leitmotif. The powers feel completely random. In DC, we have the Lanterns, who share a clear main power system. In Invincible, it’s pure chaos. Random powers.
Also, their power levels constantly shift and you never get a proper scale for them.

>>220557417It's the ugliest show ever made
>invincible>everyone can see himwut???
>>220557556>power levels constantly shiftthis is also true in DC, Marvel, and anime like DBZ though.
>>220557417I like Invincible. For me, its one of the better american comic books out there. Invincible is literally just a Shounen manga. Each arc is made to hammer out Mark's previous decision (don't kill, should have killed etc). It literally is just like that and it is what it is.
>>220557783DBZ power shift is usually between seasons to adapt to the new Big-Bad. Invincible's feels like it shifts in the middle of the fight, to the point where I was beginning to think they gave tv Invincible hulk powers where he actually gets stronger while being beaten. Nope, turns out they just dont know how to choreograph or orchestrate a fight scene properly.
