Thoughts? Is he Based or the grandfather of all cringe, commoditized culture?
I've always been fascinated by Walt Disney - not just the films, no, the guy. The image of this dude who made an empire off being creative and then made his fucking dream theme park and put a train around it, now it's so big it has it's own fucking nuclear power plant. I dunno, if you ask me and any other guy who is a creative person that's pretty fucking cool.
What do you think?
>>
>That's a pretty sexy little girl you got there, Ollie.
>>
>>220557600
As a creator he had a remarkable standard he held his team to and he innovated a lot of techniques in animstion but I don't really care for them. He's much more interesting as a very weird, technically right in the sense that that's the optimal way to do it but not at all how it works in reality designer of EPCOT. Also I'm firmly in the camp that he was at least admiring of the early Nazi party and the whole anti-semitism allegation came from his adoration of Speer's building projects
>>
Disney the company has a lot of questionable/objectionable business practices but IDK how much of that can be laid at the feet of Walt.
The criticism of him that I've heard most commonly is that he hated Jews, though I'm skeptical of that.
>>
He is one of the most quintessentially American people to ever live, for better and for worse. But he truly built himself into a legendary larger than life figure, and the theatrical nature of how he organized and operated his buisness was revolutionary and to this day almost one of kind.
An actual serious biopic about Walt would be unreal kino.
>>
>>220557795
>Also I'm firmly in the camp that he was at least admiring of the early Nazi party
Honestly most of the world were pretty on board with the Nazi party until they invaded France.
>>
>>220557600
Based right-wing American icon, father of the animation industry which later inspired anime. This site wouldn't exist without Walt
>>
>>220557600
They made a smear campaign against him regarding antisemitism, so I think he's based
>>
>>220559095
>They made a smear campaign against him regarding antisemitism
I've heard this before, the whole "well Walt Disney was anti-Semitic" which is meant to make it seem like he was some massive piece of shit, neglecting the fact that the whole world was anti-Semitic until after WW2. So really he was just an average guy.
>>
>>220557600
One of the greatest Americans in the history of the country, he would be ashamed of what greedy jews have turned his company into. He was a visionary and genius.

I highly recommend this book
>>
>>220559360
He disagreed with a Jewish labor leader and the Jew got his panties in a twist, because you know when you disagree with a Jew about the best flavor of ice cream, they cry antisemitism.
>>
>>220560036
Same thing happened to Henry Ford
>>
I wish he had lived long enough to at least attempt EPCOT
>>
>>220560095
Reading about visions for EPCOT it sounds pretty incredible. I want to live in it
>>
Where did the whole walt disney was frozen came from anyway
>>
>>220560211
His funeral was very hush hush at the time and inspired rumors, and some tabloid newspaper printed a story a few weeks after his death stating a reporter saw his body frozen in a cryogenic pod.
>>
>>220560285
I see. Not very exciting explanation but makes sense
>>
>>220560211
They heard Disney died with frozen and misunderstood. Truly an awful twist
>>
Walt wanted what was truly best for America and would not have allowed us to become an unincorporated economic zone if he lived today.
>>
>>220557600
OG Disney is the Goat.
>>220557730
I rest my case.
>>
>>220557600
he was based, it's the people who inherited his legacy that are cringe
>>
>>220557600
Based since year 0 til death.
>>
>>220557600
I like the early walt animated films, and I like the walt spirit you can see in the themeparks. Carousel of Progress, Haunted Mansion, Small World, and the whole philosophy of "disney magic", etc. etc.
That said he's now had a rather intensely negative effect on the world. The "disney adult" is a blight on the Earth and an affront to god. He's ruined copyright law and commodified tons of classic works of literature in a way that's unprecedented and has arrested culture. His themeparks have become grotesque McAmerican industrial centers where fat childless women waddle around trying to cling to the fantasy they were fed by daddy disney that they're valid and beautiful princesses.
His empire is impressive, but its allowed a certain type of retard to dominate not just American but world culture, and try to force an infantile state on mass consciousness.

Bad outweighs the good. In fact, I wish someone stopped him.
>>
>>220557600
Walt is a disguisting antisemite
>>
>>220558691
Yeah that's what I was kind of getting at, he was retroactively applied the label. Most of the world was, too, like you said. History isn't kind to Chamberlain and the likes but up until France coexistence(if not tolerance) with the Nazis was not an unpopular stance in America and especially among people like Walt and Speer who liked big building projects
>>
>>220563031
He didn't do that. Juice did.
>>
>>220564633
No, walt did ruin things. Both by making most of the foundational "princess movies" that coddled american girls, turning them into dysfunctional women, and providing the architecture for the shitheads that came after him to ruin everything further.
I can be impressed with how much he built and the artistry of his early cel animation movies and still recognize how badly he fucked everything up.
>>
>>220564690
Things that never happened. No one had a fucked up life because of princess movies from the 1930s for 80 years until the 2010s came around and the juice corruption reached critical mass
>>
>>220563031
>>220564690
Shalom
>>
I think the last film Walt was involved in (planning) was "Robin Hood" (1973). All the movies up until then were pretty good. The commercial sellout came later.
People didn't use to hate Disney when Walt was still at the helm.
>>
>>220558581
>biopic about Walt
Disney would cast him with a black actor
>>
>>220564892
Walt may have liked Hitler but he was far from Hitler.
The world would be better off if disney never happened.
Call me jewish all you like, you're white knighting for one of the most jewish institutions in existence.
>>
>>220557600
Disney was always acceptable when it was a place you went TO, like some pilgrimage shrine for the rich. Ofc, poor kids had to settle for Warner Bros. cartoons, movies and paraphernalia. Then someone made Disney movies available on home video, thus bringing it to YOU. At that point, it became commoditized culture, so Walt would've had nothing to do with it.
>>
There is absolutely zero evidence that Walt Disney was an anti-Semite.

He even blew off Leni Riefenstahl when the US Government asked him to give her a tour of the Disney Studio (this was when FDR was still trying to play nice with Hitler).

Leni said that Walt was very rude and rushed through the tour, leaving immediately

>pilgrimage
You've been psyopped.
It was best when it was a theme park or a movie at the movie theater where you could spend a fun afternoon with your family.
>>
>>220566242
Walt is a pretty notable anti-semite. You're engaging in the erasure of Jewish pain when you ignore this.

>people didn't travel to go to disneyland
>it was just a theme park
>>
>>220566416
Using the word "pilgrimage" to describe going to disneyland is fairly illustrative of the problem with disney
>>
>>220557600
Walt was pretty based, everything he did was co-opted and subverted by jews. The story of western civilization right there.
>>
>>220557795
The antisemitism allegations came from union organizers because Walt was very anti union.
>>
People are too forgiving of men who achieve impressive things in their lifetime, and leave ruin for generations to come in their wake.
>>
>>220566449
Negative. The rich kids got to go to Disneyland, and the rest of us had to hear about it to no end and seethe in jealous rage. Are you even old enough to post here? To think that going to DL or D movies is something that only happened in the last 10 years or so.
>>
>>220566605
Are you having a stroke?
>>
>>220566620
Why do you ask?
>>
>>220566605
i thought disneyland was for poors and disney world for rich
>>
>>220566742
More likely: they're for the rich; except one is for the richer rich? I dunno, never went. I came from a Looney Toons/Popeye/Road Runner family.
>>
>>220566731
You're incoherent
>>
>>220566856
It's simple; I stated: Disney was better when it was a place you went TO rather it coming to YOU. You need but read my posts.
Is there something about this you don't understand or are you perhaps undergoing cerebral hemmorhage or blood clot?
>>
>>220566914
No no, this
what you posted here
>Negative. The rich kids got to go to Disneyland, and the rest of us had to hear about it to no end and seethe in jealous rage. Are you even old enough to post here? To think that going to DL or D movies is something that only happened in the last 10 years or so.
Is actually incoherent.
>>
>>220566951
No worries. You're not the first slightly below-average intelligence person to post here. How can I make that coherent for you?
>>
>>220567042
Maybe you're too irrationally angry to form a coherent sentence.
>>
>>220567060
Again, negative. I'm more puzzled at just what it is you're trying to get at. You called the act of going to disneyland a psyop, but in the next sentence said it was better when we WENT to disneyland and disney movies, which was my original point. Then claim that I'M the one having a stroke. I mean, trolling's fun, but it belongs on /b/, not this board.
>>
>>220567163
I hope you get some help for your condition.
>>
>>220567179
I'd say you can just concede quietly or even politely, but I honestly still don't know what it is you're trying to get at or what point you were trying to make. But if you don't know what you're talking about, I'd recommend you don't go around insulting other posters.
>>
>>220567163
> called the act of going to disneyland a psyop
No, anon was pointing out that you called going to Disneyland a "pilgrimage" >>220566298 and taking issue with that.

Oh, is he some sort of fedora tipper that gets triggered by any word or phrase with religious connotations even when used as obvious idiomatic metaphor or simile? I don't know why *I* should be the one tiptoeing around such snowflakery. I honestly thought he had lost his mind.
>>
>>220567376
You come across as a seething disney employee
>>
>>220567437
Negative. Just someone who was seething with jealousy that the rich kids got to go to Disney and I was stuck watching Saturday morning cartoons and doing household chores.
>>
>>220567468
Positive. Your playbook is to associate disney's competitors with poverty and imply going to disney is some kind of "pilgrimage"
It's exactly what's in this image >>220566298
>>
>>220567512
Disneyland doesn't have competitors: there is no Looney Tunes Land. Now you're just making up paranoid conspiracy theories. Nevertheless, what I said in my first and reiterative posts obtains: the idea of Disney was better when you went to IT rather than it being brought to YOU. If you have a problem with this, that's fine, but calling me a Disney shill/plant won't help you in whatever point it is that you're trying to make.

You, I think, need some more serious help.

Ford owned and operated one of the most prominent anti-Semitic newspapers in the world. He was most definitely anti-Semitic. He just didn’t view Jews as a racial monolith like the Nazis did.

Can't we all agree that going to Disney World/theme parks in general to be honest was only fun when you were a kid filled with whimsy and the only reason it sucks now is because we're adults? Although I would like to go on the POTC ride again....

Walt Disney was based. Too bad the company was spineless after his death and let his legacy get taken over by a bunch of greedy evil kikes
>>
>>220567967
Even as a kid it felt kinda weird honestly.
Apparently I went when I was 2 and I have no memory of it. Parents took me again with my sister when I was in middle school and it was just uncomfortable and kind of culty, even in the mid 00's.
>>
He did what few could ever do lived and died by his own terms the only shame is that he enabled future idiots to use his empire but you can't really fault him for that.
>>
>>220568119
>but you can't really fault him for that.
As someone who has to live with the mess he inadvertently made, I can find fault with what he did.
>>
>>220558581
A serious biopic of walt would just not be allowed unless Disney died. They actively edit and remove any reference to him smoking cigarettes
